Adam receiving the GLAAD Davidson/Valentini Award

What a very rewarding month of May we had as fans of Adam: an honor from GLAAD, a return to Idol, a broadcast of Chinese Idol and the 80’s Show in Japan, the Life Ball and finally, the Hope of LA award. June seems to be a relatively quiet month with only 2 concerts; one in Pittsburgh and one in Orlando. There were lots of great photos of Adam to choose from so I hope you enjoy the GLAAD photo chosen for the main one as well as the few that make up the mosaic above.
Enjoy the photos and the chat!

    Merci … HK fan.

  4. Miss Chaos says:

So that was a boy scout salute? I gotta quit watching UTube and reading comments, lol. Adam always adds things in his performances that need to be watched over and over to see, Cool

  5. rs says:

So I have to think how to phrase this comment. I keep watching the clip and Adam’s salute at the end and the expression on his face, and I can’t help feeling that with all the genuine love he feels for Broadway, there isn’t some “Take that! See what you missed when you wouldn’t promote me from the back of the chorus and understudy roles! You could have had all this but you turned it down!” I feel like more than any other audience that Adam has sung before, these were the people he wanted to impress the most, and he just put it all out there and sang his little huge heart out. And it worked.

  6. cwm says:

    That SSB was incredible. IN.CRE.DI.BLE.

Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor and get my heart rate back down. I can’t get enough of the glorious, flawless power of his voice here. He just threw it all down, no holds barred, full throttle. And the result was extraordinary.

Can you even imagine what it must have been like to be there, in the audience? I picture everyone in the audience being blown backwards as though being hit by a shock wave. LOL

Oh how I hope that someday we will get the whole thing. Apparently there will be a DVD forthcoming sometime in August. Fingers crossed!

And I love love love all of the adoration he is getting over this performance. It makes my berty heart so happy!

  7. rs says:

So cwm, as someone asked in one of the comments, WHY HASN’T THIS GONE VIRAL ON YOU-TUBE? I think that the true magnificence of Adam’s voice is just too hot (or threatening) for a lot of people to fathom.

  8. luval says:

Al or Eywflyer, could you put that close up snippet of the SSB on the top of the July thread page? After all, Fourth of July appropriate!

  9. cwm says:

    Haha Adam just tweeted this:

    Adam Lambert ‏@adamlambert
Dad teaching how to walk in boots. http://pic.twitter.com/yFMFRsEMoV

    OMG that is adorable.

  10. cwm says:

I don’t think these got posted here. These are 2 vines of Adam with friends that got posted after the WWZ premiere (someone put them on youtube):

  12. cwm says:

rs – well I can’t say why it hasn’t gone viral, but it is gaining momentum. It jumped from ~3000 to ~6000 views in a couple of hours, then from ~6000 to ~11,000 in a couple more hours.

  13. TLKC says:

LOVE that Star Spangled Banner – Adam should spend a few months in New York every year. He’s getting nice local press and making a lot of connections. I would love to see him at a few more high profile NYC events, the kind of thing that Vanity Fair/Vogue/Interview magazine cover. It would guarantee him better east coast coverage when his next cd comes out. They virually ignore him or put him down (New York Magazine is the worst for snide putdowns.)

If they thought of him as a “Little bit theirs” the coverage would immediately change.

  14. TLKC says:

I think we should twitter-trend it with the hashtag #RebelYell – That’s what one commenter called it on the YouTube posting. Maybe we can organize it over the weekend, around the San Diego concert. Just in time for July 4th.

  15. rs says:

Welcome back TLKC! Haven’t seen you here for a while Waving. I agree that Adam should spend time in New York. It fits him.

Can’t wait to see you in 4 days!

  16. Kradamour says:

rs, I really appreciated your post at 2:52. I have been thinking exactly the same thing.
(And happy birthday from me, too!)

I haven’t watched the SSB piece yet – I am traveling and it sounds like a performance too big for my iPad, will wait until I am home and can view it with decent speakers and a bigger screen in a couple of days – and maybe by then a full version will materialize.
    Pray

TLKC’s post about Adam in NYC seems spot-on, too, in conjunction with an earlier post that suggested Adam needed a pied-à-terre in NY. Two totally different worlds on the two coasts, and Adam should be visible and present in both of them. (Plus I am selfish and I want him in my part of the world.)
    Grin

So now we know where the interest in boots began lol! Thanks cwm!

  17. LadyNorth says:

Happy (belated?) birthday rs! Rose Cake Rose Have a wonderful time in US Big Smile

OMG that national anthem. No words.

  18. Kradamour says:

So…I caved and watched the vid of the SSB without sound (still gonna save that for decent speakers).
Did anyone but me think that Adam’s ending was decidedly defiant and that the odd two-finger salute was almost the equivalent (and maybe more than ‘almost’) of the bird he flipped at the end of the AMAs? That was quite an expression on his face and made me go back and re-read rs‘ post.
    ITA.

  19. rs says:

Kradamour, I was thinking of the end of the AMAs when I wrote my post, but I didn’t mention it, because I don’t think that he was angry here like he was there (after the thing with the magazine editor), just a bit defiant, and I didn’t go back to watch and compare the two “looks”.

  20. rs says:

That “boots” pic is just so precious. Dadbert taught him well, cause he sure knows how to fill them now!

  21. aely says:

Yet another slightly longer/different version. Close up and from the front!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALq0zuUTodQ&feature=youtu.be

  22. sparkle says:

“I want it all. I want it all. I want it all and I want it bad.” (the entire SSB sung so flawlessly by AFL).
Happy belated birthday, rs! You sure know how to celebrate in style (your trip to San Diego)!

  23. luval says:

I read somewhere that his two finger salute was the Boy Scout salute. I didn’t think defiant. I thought proud to be an American and salute with gusto!!

  24. Kradamour says:

rs, I agree that it is different, and not at all the anger from the AMAs.
“I’ve shown you now what you couldn’t see before, and what you could have had.”
Adam wouldn’t be human if there wasn’t an element of anger at the bottom of that defiant and soaring performance. There were almost certainly peeps in that audience who had rejected him at some point.
Would love to be able to read his thoughts while he sang in front of that audience. Likely very conflicted on many levels.
A performance like that comes from passion.

  25. Miss Chaos says:

Oh, if Adam would write a book about what and why he does what he does. I read under the many comments on the Tube, that it was a Boy Scout salute, which makes sense, a solider salute doesnt look like that. Can researchers find pictures of both. I think it was, I am Adam, I am proud, I can sing look at me now,and (I can really sing) just listen, and take that the people that dont like me!
To me that was the most amazing partial performance I have ever seen, if the whole thing comes out I will never have a life again, until the next great one comes out!!!!

  26. aely says:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-finger_salute

I don’t think the salute meant anything. I read some of those comments and looked it up. It is the Cub Scout salute not the Boy Scouts. I didn’t read anything into that performance except, watch me slay this bitches.

I just don’t think he sees himself as a “victim”, in this situation, or maybe any situation. He is established and has his fans, the ones that don’t like him probably never will, but he is building his fan base by getting out there and showing his abilities. He is getting more press and recognition now so I think this performance was like an exclamation point.

  27. turquoisewaters says:

Love your interpretations , rs and krad. My two cents:
I think he sang it like a BOSS. That’s what I posted over there. The stance, the look in his eyes, the outfit, the way he took his mic holding hand down between lines. That actually reminded me of his Zodiac performance of ACIGC. I was half expecting him to throw the mic down at the end. The quarter turn walk-off was to me almost like a bit of comic relief after such an aggressive performance.

  28. turquoisewaters says:

Aely: so true. He is getting more recognition because there is just no denying his talent. Of course that only works for those who even bother to care about talent and skills.

  29. JOJOSIE says:

aely, I agree with you. This was a chance to let go and show a lot of folks what he could do vocally. This wasn’t really just a performance of the SSB but the opening act of the show to follow. It was theatrical and part of the show IMO. He sings to fit his audience and I believe he would not sing it this way in another setting. Vocally a masterpiece and great for this audience. At other public affairs I’m sure he would do it more like he did at the military base after Idol. He’s had a great time in NY and maybe making contacts so they remember who he is. I’d like to see him eventually do an original Broadway show, not a repeat of an older show. All his and no comparisons.

Interesting. New producers for Idol produced Divas last year….they loved Adam….

  33. nkd says:

FYI – He only sang from “and the rockets red glare” onwards, so this is the full video.

If this person knows what they are talking about, maybe we have it all and there is no beginning part.

  34. turquoisewaters says:

Why would he sing only half the anthem? Seems strange to me. I’m still hoping for a complete video.

I agree turquoisewaters….why would anyone sing half an anthem, that seems really odd.

  38. josephine says:

I get it!!!! the salute was meant for the boy scouts to send a “message” in Adam’s way–beautiful SSB sang as only he can..

We have all been speculating about Broadway Bares, so I just decided to email the Broadway Cares office, and here’s the answers, from Michelle!
“I am pretty sure it was a last-minute decision. I didn’t know about it until that morning!
I think he only sang a bit of the song due to time constraints in the show. It was between the numbers of Nevada and Georgia, about halfway through the performance.

Fox’s “American Idol” is going for full spectacle when it returns for Season 13.

An individual with knowledge of the negotiations told TheWrap that producing pair Jesse Ignjatovic and Evan Prager are close to signing on to the music competition as the producers for 19 Entertainment.

    http://www.thewrap.com/tv/article/american-idol-adding-den-thieves-pair-producing-team-exclusive-99566

Jesse Ignjatovic and Evan Prager were the producers for the VH1 Diva’s show that Adam hosted.

  45. aely says:

I know I am in the minority but I still really believe what I posted earlier. He did not do the Boy Scout salute, he did a two finger salute that is done in some Cub Scout troops. The link is above. But, it meant nothing other than being part of the show. He is not a victim. He is established and showing off everything he has to offer at any chance he gets. He is not the strongest actor, comedic acting aside, and not a Broadway caliber dancer. If I remember correctly, he never even tried out for Broadway, just in CA. He now has the name and the popularity that makes him a must have rather than a maybe. He has always had the voice, it is just now everything else has caught up with him. His friends are on Broadway, no way would he ever snub or disrespect them. I understand if this upsets anyone but I am just speaking from my heart. I think he is on his way to an amazing and long lasting career and I will be there every step of the way. I am now totally invested, dang it…. Big Smile

  46. Miss Chaos says:

I still don’t believe it. Only singing part. Na!

  47. Calgary says:

MissChaos The lady at Broadway Cares confirmed it – only part of the song. It would make sense since all the vids start around the same place.

  48. TLKC says:

I agree with you aely. Most, if not all, of Adam’s auditioning was for west coast productions: Wicked, The Ten Commandments, WWRY in Las Vegas.

Plus, Adam’s got a pretty thick skin. He handled losing to Kris Allen with amazing grace and he was way too nice to Aaron Hincklin when they made it up after the OUT debacle.

Even if Adam did feel resentment, he’s too professional to show it when producers and directors are in the house. His conscientious professionalism was developed in a very precise and demanding work environment where jobs are scarce and there is always a talented person waiting to take your place. He’s not going to advertise a chip on his shoulder in the middle of a chance to show people who matter what a humongous talent he is. JMO.

  49. TLKC says:

Maybe there’s something about only paying royalties if you sing more than a certain % of the song? It’s for charity, though. Dunno.

  50. TLKC says:

Hi rs. I know you’re fast asleep now so I should save it for the morning. I am getting more and more excited about San Diego. Only 5 days ’til we meet again.

BTW, those of you who are interested in the Toronto International Film Festival in September – I will post a link and info tomorrow. Passes are going on sale shortly. Please note: the David Bowie exhibit from the Victoria & Albert Museum will be here during the festival, another reason for a Glambert to make the trip. Smile

    G’night.
