Adam receiving the GLAAD Davidson/Valentini Award

What a very rewarding month of May we had as fans of Adam: an honor from GLAAD, a return to Idol, a broadcast of Chinese Idol and the 80’s Show in Japan, the Life Ball and finally, the Hope of LA award. June seems to be a relatively quiet month with only 2 concerts; one in Pittsburgh and one in Orlando. There were lots of great photos of Adam to choose from so I hope you enjoy the GLAAD photo chosen for the main one as well as the few that make up the mosaic above.
Enjoy the photos and the chat!

Re Pippin…it is the most hyped, biggest thing in a long time on Broadway…if Adam has a role in the movie, it could only be good.
I don’t see him as Pippin, though – not because of age, but because his voice is too rich now, the part really calls for someone who sounds immature – but he would be a fabulous First Player. On Broadway this time, the First Player is a woman (last time it was Ben Vereen). It is a meaty role, needs a good jazz dancer – Fosse choreography – a rich voice, and an arch smile – lots of nuance in the part – the First Player is the Master of Ceremonies of the play within the play which is the play (get it?). Adam would be so fricking amazing – and it is a very hip, modern show even though it is a revival, totally different production, it is a circus now, kinda Zodiac Show in feel, actually, with wild sexy costumes…and wonderful, wonderful music. (sorry, ulti).
(And I want Cher to play Pippin’s mother, please, it is such an over the top role, she would be amazing in it!)
Okay, glad we got the casting done. Filming can begin whenever…

  8. ultimathule says:

I’ve seem Adam do the Fosse moves, Krad – during the Idol tour someone threw him a bowler hat and he immediately went into that style.

Anyone else here remember which city – I’ll try to search it out because I loved what he did.

  9. Kradamour says:

    Adam channeling Fosse…

  10. ultimathule says:

Ahh, Krad, I hope it happens. I’m sure I’d love it.

  11. Kradamour says:

Ulti, I’ve got all my whatsits crossed…I’d just camp out in the movie theater and see every show for days on end. They’d have to carry me out at the end of the run…

(Irene Ryan was Pippin’s mother in the original, but Cher would be ten times better…Pippin’s mother is a very sexy and scheming woman…)

  13. Ron says:

    Adam is not a dancer.

He’s said so himself and I haven’t seen anything that he’s done to make me think otherwise.

In show biz vernacular … he “moves well”.

Only select people have managed to pass the Fosse demands of his distinct style.

One has to be razor sharp in their precise movements for a choreographed Bob Fosse number.

Adam’s mind and singing and sense of style and personality are razor-sharp but … that’s about it.

That’s all that he has going for him. ROTFL

  15. ultimathule says:

If it’s more Zodiac – that would be great. Has to be, as you said, very hip and modern to suit him now.

  16. Kradamour says:

Ron, Adam isn’t a dancer but I think he could pull this off. There is so much going on at any given moment, that (especially in a movie, rather than a stage), I think that for First Player the singing is more important than the dancing, if one would have to choose.
And Adam has just a few friends to put into the chorus as Players….I think he would have the time of his life doing Pippin as a movie.
And I would just camp out in the theater living on popcorn and nachos until … well, until.
    Pray Pray Pray Pray Pray

  17. Ron says:

Kradamour, can you imagine the ovation Cher would get singing these lyrics from “Just No Time At All”.

Music Note Here is a secret I never have told

    Maybe you’ll understand why

I believe if I refuse to grow old
I can stay young till I die

Now, I’ve known the fears of sixty-six years
I’ve had troubles and tears by the score

But the only thing I’d trade them for
    Is sixty-seven more…. Music Note

It’s such a wonderful song. I love the score of “Pippin”.

It was Syracuse at about 2:34.

Think this was the concert when he was sick – can tell, I think, his voice sounds husky.

Kris had to skip one show – maybe this was it.

I think that for First Player the singing is more important than the dancing, if one would have to choose.

I’m sure my way of thinking is colored by the fact that I saw Ben Vereen in the original “Pippin,” when I first moved to NYC, because I think that it has to be both. Dancing being the priority.

Ben Vereen was/is a dancer first and foremost … and a singer second.

Under the guidance of Rob Marshall as director “Chicago” (Best Picture of that year) who has expressed an interest in working with Adam (did you know that?!), he can direct and edit and make anyone look good.

    So here’s the deal …

Weinstein/Miramax productions hires Rob Marshall to direct the movie version of “Pippin” and Adam is cast in the lead.

    That suits me.

    Smile

  20. ultimathule says:

Hey – starting to get enthused here.

  21. Kradamour says:

    Okay, Ron, “deal”!
I saw Ben Vereen, too, and he was magical.
Patina Miller, I think, is more singer than dancer, but I would yield to your opinion on this one.
OMG, yes Cher would get that ovation!

Srsly, who do we write to?
    This should happen!!!

We don’t have to write to anyone.

You put forward 10 million dollars and I’ll throw in 5 million dollars (I can be chincy) and we’ll put the whole thing together ourselves.

I can just see us accepting our Tony Awards and having a Kir Royal to celebrate afterwards. Smile

  29. ultimathule says:

Agree with peeps saying he’d better remove that furry thing before Queen – afraid viewers would end up comparing ‘staches. You know they would. And in that respect Freddie’s is bigger.

I couldn’t stand the facial hair in that pic ulti from the ASCAP awards. It looked like Wooly Willy. I haven’t minded the current fuzz situation, but if it keeps getting darker I may start objecting also.

Amazing set of videos from Pittsburgh by DancyGeorgia.A full set with great sound. Far enough from the stage to see everything and close enough to also see everything! Makes sense to me anyway!!

    Ron,
I think Adam can dance….once in an interview (can’t remember which one) a long time ago, the interviewer asked him what he would do if he wasn’t a singer, and I seem to remember him answering a dancer…

  35. HK fan says:

Just watched Fever from Pittsburgh for the first time…sooooo goodSmile

  36. Kradamour says:

Adam has also said that he would be an accountant (wtf?), an interior designer, and a psychologist. Each was said in a different interview, but the three together really seem to sum him up nicely.

Boy can dance but he’s not on a professional level, IMHO.

The facial hair is totally out of hand. Wooly Willy indeed. Didn’t like it before, loathe it now. He looks old and creepy. Too dark, too much, too silver screen villain.
    No No No

  37. luval says:

Here is my thinking on Wooly Willy. I think it has something to do with the Queen TV event. Is there some kind of anniversary this year of Freddie or Queen connected thing? Can’t remember. If there is, I think Brian May wants to do some kind of documentary or drama telling the Freddie story (even though it’s been done). And I think he wants Adam to play Freddie in his early career which then leads up to Adam Lambert fronting Queen. Maybe they are even filming things now and the stache…which will be corrected to look like Freddie’s…is needed to lend an authenticity to the drama even in rehearsals.

LOL I know this is way off the wall but that’s all I got!

Like most of you who didn’t mind it at first, I’m kind of done with that look now. Yes,Kradamour, you have described it perfectly…creepy, dark and oldish looking now, I’ll add smarmy and “greasy”, although at Pittsburgh it didn’t seem that awful.

    Here’s my favorite fuzz face:

Ya know, if he would just tell us why he has the (IN our opinion) god awful mustache, then we would get off his back, for a movie Heh , for a thingy with Queen Giggle or for a Broadway part Eek! , or even if god forbid he likes it Shock , then at least we can move on, to something else!!!! Bye

  39. Miss Chaos says:

OK, Freddie was born Sept 5- so Adam has time for this! But he also started with an afro, unless Adam is going to wear a wig, he needs to get his hair permed into an afro! ROTFL ROTFL Laugh Grin Chic

Just to clarify, the pic that ulti posted at 3:01am was an old pic from 2011. I hated the way he darkened it.
