Adam receiving the GLAAD Davidson/Valentini Award

What a very rewarding month of May we had as fans of Adam: an honor from GLAAD, a return to Idol, a broadcast of Chinese Idol and the 80’s Show in Japan, the Life Ball and finally, the Hope of LA award. June seems to be a relatively quiet month with only 2 concerts; one in Pittsburgh and one in Orlando. There were lots of great photos of Adam to choose from so I hope you enjoy the GLAAD photo chosen for the main one as well as the few that make up the mosaic above.
Enjoy the photos and the chat!

I can’t imagine that an obscure fan photo would end up on their radar screen. JMO

Oh, I thought the hickey thing was a joke. I just now really looked at that picture that started it. If that is a hickey was he with a giant? Doesn’t he like small guys? I am teasing. But, whatever. I think he would be smart enough to make sure if that is happening you do it where it doesn’t show. No matter how drunk at 31 he knows that game. Only his fans would see that, I looked at that picture a couple of times on twitter this am and didn’t notice a thing. I had to blow it up to see what everyone was talking about. Way more scandalous things to report.

For anyone in the ALF club, there are still very good seats available for the July 19th Paso Robles show in the presale which started at 6 PM EDT on Wednesday. I just snagged dead center 5th row from the stage for a friend (I can’t make that show unfortunately).

Huge thanks to AL for keeping the site going in recent months. I’ve been in a transitional period here in the Keys, selling my house in Key West and moving eastward about 20 miles to a rental house, and have had very little free time to spend on Adam or anything else for that matter. Things are finally starting to settle down a bit, although still getting set up in the new place, and head to So Cal for a week (including the Del Mar concert) next Thursday.

  10. cwm says:

I was just coming here to post that, nkd, but you beat me to it. Smile

Dang, Adam is on a mission! He is in a Broadway mood this week. Which is great – I bet he’s having a blast. And how cool for him that he gets to go backstage at all these shows and visit with the cast and feel so connected to that community.

I have to wonder, of course, if all of these shows he’s going to might signal that something is getting cooked up for him on Broadway. *rubs chin thoughtfully*

Probably not, but it’s fun to consider!

  11. cwm says:

eywflyer — good to see you! I hope that your move signals good things happening for you. I’m looking forward to hopefully meeting you in San Diego.

And don’t worry, AL has been doing an AWESOME job of holding down the fort here at ALL and keeping us all in line. We’re a rowdy bunch and he’s had to lay down the law a few times, but we haven’t made too much of a mess of things… yet… Wink

  13. cwm says:

Ok, one more post. I’m heading into post ho territory again.

Just wanted to say that it’s great to see another show on the horizon for Adam after the San Diego show. I was a little worried that we would be going into a total drought after San Diego, but now we’ll have another show to look forward to just a couple weeks later on the 19th in Paso Robles. I hope he pulls in a good crowd for that show.

Unfortunately, I can’t make it to that show due to timing of our family vacation (to Peru!), but I hope that others here can go. (Looking at you especially, turquoisewaters and jlurksacto!)

  14. turquoisewaters says:

cwm: I can’t make Paso Robles even though I am so close. Family commitments.

  15. rs says:

Where is Paso Robles? Will the LA people go to that one? Maybe Lyndsey Parker will get there. That is, if we don’t already see her in San Diego.

  16. cwm says:

rs, Paso Robles is on the Central California coast, about 4 hours north of LA, near San Luis Obispo. Lovely area, but not particularly close to a major metropolitan area. It’s about half-way between the LA area and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Looks like they have a number of big acts on their roster, so since it’s apparently a State Fair for the mid-state area, it probably draws people from a pretty broad geographic area throughout the central part of the state.

turquoisewaters – sorry to hear that you can’t go to the PR show. Hopefully someone from here can make it!

  18. milwlovesadam says:

Up early today , catching up…

Love that Adam was able to see so many shows, he said that he had lots of friends that were nominated for Tony’s this year. Love that it’s plural!! Not just Charl.

I’m going to assume that he included Cyndie Lauper as one of his friends. Love that.

He looks so happy in the Broadway world. His eyes have a different kind of happy in them. It’s hard to describe.

The hickey-thingy? LOL. If it is, …. glad he’s getting some. (( Who am I kidding??? Our early bird likely has no problem whatsoever in that department! ))

So, now is a tightly buttoned up shirt “code” for ” I’m hiding something?”

  19. milwlovesadam says:

Oh HK, oh wow. That kind of mix-up is getting ridiculous. Honestly.

  20. cwm says:

Translation of a sweet little article in a Finnish publication about Sauli. He talks about his current situation and his plans, and his current relationship with and gratitude toward Adam. Sounds like they are still close and get along well. That makes me happy to hear.

  21. JOJOSIE says:

Thanks for post hoing cwm as I am a Sauli fan and this makes me very happy. I check up on him on some other sites and follow his instagram. He’s had contacts from some of the band members and many of their mutual friends so it’s great that they still are friends. Mils, so glad your boys are back. Will they be leaving for school soon? Take time from hugging them to post. Laugh

  22. Kradamour says:

Pippin…how many times have I thought (and probably posted) that I would love above all things to see Adam in Pippin? He is too old for the role of Pippin, but he would be a sublime First Player (IMHO).
I am thinking that my birthday this year needs to include a NYC trip to see Pippin and Kinky Boots…

Kradamour, I thought about you when I heard he had seen Pippin! Yes he does look happy in all the pics in the last few days.

  25. ultimathule says:

The more I read about the difficulty of selling an album the traditional way, the more I suspect (since he’s so media savvy now) that he’s got something else up his sleeve. It would seem that the way the second album was sold won’t hack it this time around.

Another question I have is where is the money coming from to make the third album. His answers about the music are all so ambiguous have no handle on anything at all. Maybe he wants it that way – he’s sorta said he’s keeping it closer to the vest this time.

Just slightly anxious about the whole thing – that music will be forthcoming eventually – my number one concern.

  27. ultimathule says:

Hope the F Word campaign does some good – still not crazy about the presentation.

  28. turquoisewaters says:

Cwm: For some reason my family doesn’t plan their lives around Adam’s schedule. I don’t get it either. ROTFL
I am somewhat concerned that not many people will show up for Paso Robles. It’s a bit in the middle of nowhere with no good traffic connections.

  29. turquoisewaters says:

ultimathule: I definitely share those concerns. It’s a very tricky environment, and Adam et al need to think outside the box. I personally would love a more rock direction. I think it suits Adam’s voice and performance style. But I have no idea how it would sell.

  30. Kradamour says:

Re rock – I would buy it, because it was Adam, but I would put it in a drawer and be sad. Rock just seems so dated. None of my students listen to it. My sons don’t listen to it. My one son even said to me that Adam needs to put out a rock album for all of his older women fans to buy.
Maybe that is true. If we are the ones buying his music, maybe he should just give us (not me, though, I never liked rock and I do think it is a waste of his voice) what we want.
    Sigh.
So hard to figure out what is best for Adam. I am very relieved that he is not depending on me to have the answer!

  31. Kradamour says:

He is still signed with RCA, yes? so presumably that is where the money is coming from.
    Question

  32. turquoisewaters says:

Krad: Ouch, that older women comment always hurts. He just sings these classic rock sings with so much gusto. But I do hear you re dated. In the end I believe he should make the kind of music he likes himself because he can’t sell it if he doesn’t believe in it. But I am curious. What direction would you prefer?
Looking back my favorite Adam songs are shady and fever along with the ballads like soaked, underneath, broken open. None of these were ever a single.

  33. ultimathule says:

Thanks for that Sauli/tumblr link, cwm – he had rather fallen off my radar (to tell the truth it was his connection to Adam that made him relevant to me).

Grazing through the Archives section, though, the many pictures of them together did (unexpectedly) provoke a sense of melancholy (at the passing of a time?) And Sauli’s apparent gratefulness that people did not desert him was touching. He seems a simple man (which does not imply simple-minded) – just happy to be who he is and in love with life.

  34. ultimathule says:

Two of Pharrell Williams’s collabs are in the iTunes Top Ten – “Blurred Lines” (Robin Thicke) and “Get Lucky” (Daft Punk). Both of Pharrell’s songs with Adam are far better than either of these, but BTIKM and NCOE took precedence for release. By the time TR came out, it was too late.

Billboard (as was put up earlier in this thread) wrote this:

“Even Pharrell’s most devoted followers had to be caught a little off-guard by the writer/producer’s work on “American Idol” alum Adam Lambert’s “Trespassing” album, churning out both the barnstorming, “Another One Bites the Dust”-esque glam disco of the album’s title track, and the strobe-light throwdown of “Kickin’ In,” arguably the album’s finest track. Lambert gave Williams his finest pop muse since Justin Timberlake (“Rock Your Body,” “Senorita”) back in ’03, and P responded with two of his most creative, intoxicating and boundary-stretching tracks of recent years, both of which would have been mega-hits in a fairer pop universe. Clearly, Pharrell and disco were meant to have further success together.”

WTH is going on here. Can’t believe Adam wouldn’t have wanted TR released first. Had no choice in the matter? Hopefully next time he does.

  35. ultimathule says:

Think Adam knows Rock’s not gonna sell. After he sang “Shout” in Pittsburgh, he made that funny face at the crowd acknowledging that HE knew they didn’t all get it.

And, then, here comes Queen – lol.

  36. Reese says:

Just like turquoisewaters I will not be able to make Paso Robles, which is within driving distance. Happens to coincide with a friend of mine visiting from Vegas. Sad that I’ll miss Adam, but also that I’ll miss the beautiful drive down Hwy. 101. Thank goodness I’ve got San Diego to look forward to.

  37. HK fan says:

What is Pippin about, I have never heard of it, apart from the brief mention on here???

I love Adam doing Rock, but do not like Shout, I still don’t get why he chose this for a cover.

No, I see the other one.

  43. ultimathule says:

Jeez – maybe he should just scratch the singing career and go into a clothing line.

  44. HK fan says:

glambotgram….I love Shout, maybe because I was brought up in England in the 80’s….don’t like AYGGMW, and really don’t like Purple Haze or Enter sandman….never revisit those.

    Shock

  50. ultimathule says:

Well, Krad – watched the YT’s – great performers – terrific dancers – and the kind of tuneless music that leaves me cold. Just like Les Miz.

Throwback here – give me Rodgers and Hart.

Wonder if one likes this type of music, then, like you, do not like rock. ‘Cause I’m just the reverse.
