After a very busy couple of weeks of promo and radio concerts following the release of “Trespassing” on May 15, Adam will head to London early this month to begin preparations for his upcoming concerts with Queen. He will do some album promo and a couple of live performances in the UK as well, where Trespassing is set for a July 2 release date. One of these shows is the “Rays of Sunshine” charity event at the very prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. Adam will also return briefly to the US for a free radio concert in San Francisco on June 24.

Our featured photo (Brian Ach – Getty Images) for this month shows Adam in a very happy mood while performing at the KTUPhoria radio concert. Enjoy the chat!

Cher, chair or blanket??? I thought with a VIP ticket I could park in the
front row of the VIP section. Damn, I just might stay home.

I think the bouncers there might be bigger than your little Prius

    Jlurks

so you’d better not try that!
I would love to join y’all in Des Moines but unfortunately I must work on the 29th…and since work does pay for the costs of my Adam obsession… Thinking I’ll wait until he comes my way hopefully later this year. The London trip is very very costly but so worth it.

Jlurks I can’t believe that after you decided to drive all the way to Costa Mesa that Adam’s doing a concert right in your backyard the next day!! Can your little car fly?
    Need a broomstick?

asif not sure about that one, it kinda has a salsa vibe to it.

  8. asifclueless says:

    glambotgram … I like it.
Yes, it has kind of salsa or Latin vibe mixed with Caribbean Island, reagea vibes also.

It makes me think of BORA BORA. Wink

  9. milwlovesadam says:

I’m not on the train for that bonus track. Sorry. I’m not even going to listen a second time. Me no likey.

Well, looking for a hotel room today. And the cray train just keeps rolling…

asif, thanks for that song link. I just listened to it twice, and already by the 2nd hearing it had grown on me quite a bit.

  14. Kradamour says:

Wow. I really like By the Rules.
    Thank you, sistasif!
    (Mils, give it another try.)

I can definitely understand why it is a bonus track, though, it is so different from everything else on the album. Maybe it was Bora Bora!
But I want a better version before I listen to it too much. Does anyone know how to order the Japanese version of Trespassing? I can line it up on the shelf with my UK version, the regular American version, the Deluxe American version, and the vinyl.
Hmmm…wonder if there will be a Russian cyrillic version that I can make myself crazy trying to order???

And I STILL WANT TO BUY THE NCOE VIDEO!!!
    Why won’t they take my $$$ ?

  15. Kradamour says:

Here is the link to be notified by Amazon when the Japan import becomes available:

Here is a link to a very interesting article about how a song (Somebody That I Used to Know) became a huge hit from obscurity:

So…200,000 hits on the youtube in a week was huge? What about Adam’s million in a few days?
    Question Question Question

  17. Kradamour says:

Re hotels for Des Moines – no reason not to stay out farther from the venue, I think. Des Moines has a lot of hotels out a bit. Even ten miles would be nothing, really, because we aren’t going to be going back and forth.
I’m a big Holiday Inn Express fan, they treated me so well during a travel crisis that I will be loyal forever. If no one else has a strong preference, that would be mine.

I think we should take this sort of planning to the other thread, though, the summer concert planning thread. I’ll post this there and then “dot” this later.

  18. asifclueless says:

Oh .. Thanks sista and you’re welcome.

Yes, Mils .. give it a second chance.
Pretend that you’re relaxing at the beach with a Maitai or a Margarita. This song is pretty, light, flowing and tender voice. No need for high notes or wide range. It suits Asian clients. I enjoy it. Good for a summer song.

Adam Lambert – By The Rules
    lyrics:

    U are my lava
    My lava flow
    Burn like no other
    Right thru the core
Just like the constellations we shine
No wreck or ruin our Planets Align

The tide and the moon we are
    U pull like the sea
In waves I can feel ya
    You’re My ecstasy
    The lamb and the lion
    We lay down in peace.
    Like air to the fire
    I need U to breathe

    By the rules I play
    By the rules I play
    By the rules I play
    Let nature have its way
    Predator and prey
    That’s the way we’re made
    So By the rules
    By the rules
    By the rules

    After the thunder
    Must come the rain
    After our beautiful karma
    Must come the pain
Just like the constellations we fade
As blades of sunlight eh send night away

  21. milwlovesadam says:

Yup. I just don’t like it. It’s like that one song on FYE I always skipped, Loaded Smile, not that the songs are similar, they’re not, it’s just one that’s not for me.

You say potato, I say potahtoh….

GTG. Helping son #1 with enough laundry that you would think a whole dorm of college kids came home. And WHY does it smell so bad??????

    Mama to the rescue…

  22. milwlovesadam says:

Although the lyrics are nice. Obviously a love song for Sauli.

  24. jlurksacto says:

Jlurks I can’t believe that after you decided to drive all the way to Costa Mesa that Adam’s doing a concert right in your backyard the next day

Was a little surprised by that also. At least I don’t have major changes
to plan for like the London Queen thing. And I live only 4 mi/15 min from
the Sacto venue. Can do it! And Des Moines and San Franciso. Don’t know
about screaming kids at the Sacramento one. could arrive just before and
leave right after Adam’s turn. (ear plugs?)

  25. asifclueless says:

    Oh … Mils.. Grin
    I love A Loaded Smile.
I still listen to it on my ipod.
Only 3 songs from FYE that I still listen to. Two of them are from bonus tracks .. Can’t Let You Go and Time For Miracles. And pre Idol .. I Just Love You (in my alarm clock to wake me up every morning.)

  26. asifclueless says:

Cassie from Atop talked about By The Rules.

Head voice, that’s it. Adam used mostly head voice in A Loaded Smile.

The reason it doesn’t sound like what we are used to is that Adam floats the notes in his head voice without incorporating much of any chest resonance. Then, he adds just a bit of a breathy sound. Someone said it sounds like Sade, and I can hear that. And a little MJ, a little Bruno.

As for autotune, just possibly for effect on some of the ooohs, and ahhhs. But not willing to swear on that.

For those who say this doesn’t sound like Adam, I refer you to the opening lines of “If I Can’t Have You” on Idol. Same technique, same sound.

  27. milwlovesadam says:

Wow. I just came here to post that I tried it again, and it sounded like Sade to me! Maybe he’s trying to court South America with this one. And Asians. Not to pigeonhole people, but, he has so many different sounds going on in the CD from Shady to Naked Love to Nirvana to Pop That Lock.

He can sing anything. And sing it well.

    Final verdict. Me no likey.

And, that folks is why they make so many different flavors of ice cream. They are all ice cream. Some people just prefer a certain flavor(s).

AS far as FYE. The tour slayed me. I can’t listen to the CD anymore. Haven’t since I saw him in Milwaukee ( egads, is it really 2 years ago this week?). If I want to listen to anything from FYE, I listen to live stuff. Maybe this song will be better live. And, I’m hoping to hear CLYG live to give it a chance too. I really can’t listen to the recorded version. It just hurts my ears. Too over-produced, too much going on. IMHO.

  28. luval says:

mils…in a recent (last couple of months) Adam was asked about single CLYG live and I remember him saying that no…that era is over or something like that. It was one of the radio promos when he was singing BTIKM. I’ll try to find it.

I listen to FYE all the time, but like you I don’t care for Loaded Smile. Ceddies, I know you love it!

Have to listen to the new song again to make an opinion.

  29. milwlovesadam says:

Yea, I guess we’ll never hear PUU either.

Okay, laundry beckons….starting to smell better too. Nothing like a little bleach and detergent! Funny, I know I taught the boy about those things…

  30. nkd says:

I like By the Rules, but not as much as the rest of the album. It does not fit with the North American version at all. The other 3 bonus tracks finish the album perfectly, this one doesn’t go.

  31. riskylady says:

Re By the Rules: How many fake songs have come out from a Japanese source? Three so far? This just doesn’t sound right – the lyrics are way too similar to Nirvana, and just doesn’t seem like Adam’s type of song. Could be a demo of some sort. Sorry, I don’t buy it…..we’ll soon see right or wrong.

    Today’s position:
Let me just start by saying the download frenzy has slowed down, hence the iTunes numbers. On the upside though, Adam has moved UP to #3(!!) at Barnes & Noble. He’s #21 and #23 at Target, #23 at Best Buy.
iTunes Overall, #73, iTunes Pop #19. WWFM and NCOE are still charting in the top 200 in Pop singles, WWFM #104 and NCOE #139.
The video is 1,457,014 with 27,281 likes. Viewership is worldwide, except for low in China and Central Afrida.

  32. nkd says:

The style in this song, By the Rules, is different for Adam, but that is his voice unlike some of the fakes, and we know that By the Rules is a bonus track in Japan and the UK.

    Hi!

Personal news–hubby is home from hospital. How about that? Massive heart attack Tuesday night, with cardiologist standing right outside his hospital room, rushed straight to surgery. NO DAMAGE to his heart. Didn’t even raise his enzyme level. Came home yesterday with three new stents (has nine now, but six are no longer working.)

Listened to By the Rules. It’s not destined to be one of my favorites, but it’s all right. I agree that it is out of place on the deluxe album, so I’m glad it wasn’t included. I love what we have as it is. Still haven’t bought my replacement copy of TP yet. Gave my original to my granddaughter. She’s in college and couldn’t afford to spend the money.

  35. riskylady says:

I just really can’t imagine that song as a bonus for the UK, of all places….
ETA: And, the UK version is getting all 15 US Deluxe songs, PLUS Map and By the Rules. Why have a song near Nirvana that has such similar lyrics?

  36. Ellessay says:

Great. We don’t get Adam here in Florida, but we get Bieber. He’s got a concert on Jan. 25th in Orlando.

Well, it has finally happened. The bangs era is over for Justin Bieber. In a bold career move, the Biebs has allowed himself to turn 18, and with that newfound maturity comes the momentous decision to give Liza Minnelli her haircut back and forge his own style.

But what will this new style be? Will he emerge from the chrysalis of his hair helmet as a soul-searching man of the world, like the Beatles shedding their mop-tops? Whatever this new phase brings, it will involve plenty of smooth rapping and “swag” if the lyrics to his single “Boyfriend” are any indication. Guess we’ll just have to wait until birthday number 21 for Bieber to discover his soul, since it looks like he’s still finding his way through R&B.

    http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-05-31/entertainment/os-justin-bieber-orlando-20120530_1_biebs-amway-center-bold-career-move

  37. Ellessay says:

Speaking of the Biebs, did you hear he suffered a mild concussion Thursday after hitting a glass wall backstage at a Paris concert according to TMZ. He passed out for 15 seconds or so, but is expected to be all right. Well, thank goodness. Wouldn’t want to miss his Orlando concert…@@

    I want Adam…..

Was hoping to go to Ohio for 40th class reunion this summer, but plans may change now. My daughter was trying to come up with alternatives for a shorter vacation (just a couple of days)and her husband said, “That’s easy. Where is Adam going to be performing?” @@ Not hiding my Adam adoration very well, I’m afraid. If he’d just come to Florida….I’d so be there!!!

  38. nkd says:

Ellessay, I’m thrilled that your hubby is home and recovering. That is such great news!

  39. Calgary says:

Count me in on “By The Rules”. I love it! Will we ever be able to buy it on iTunes? I don’t know how this stuff works!

  40. riskylady says:

Poor Bieber, not easy to make the transition from kid to adult. But, copying Adam’s hair, earrings, gloves, album cover, just No. And I listened to his new song, Die in Your Arms (? not sure of title) and geez, he is simply “Usher-lite.” I think he’s talented, but too mentored to be able to find his own voice just yet. And, his looks? No better, no worse than hundreds of very cute boys. Not drop-dead unmistakably uniquely gorgeous, like our BB.

Glad to hear about your hubby Ellesay. What a nightmare. Now, take care of yourself too! You deserve it.

  46. Teri63 says:

Ellessay: So glad your husband is home and doing well.

I’m kind of fond of “By the Rules.” I don’t know why, but I got kind of a cross Boy George/Michael Jackson feel from it. I just love that Adam experimented with so many styles for this album. Let’s face it: He can literally sing anything well, so it’s just up to our individual preferences to compile our own Adam playlists. My complete Adam playlist currently includes “Soaked,” “Broken Open,” “Sleepwalker” and “For Your Entertainment” from the first album (I love all of it because it’s all Adam, but I need a little vacay from WWFM and the ones I’ve listed above are my current favorites from ERA I)and each and every song from Trespassing. There’s literally not a single one from the new album that I dislike. My absolute favorites on this date, June 2, 2012 (’cause it’ likely to change on any given day/mood) are “Shady,” “Kickin’ In,” “Broken English,” “Pop that Lock,” “Underneath,” and all three of the US bonus tracks. I actually find myself fast forwarding to the bonus material sometimes because they’re a tad different from his other offerings but still so uniquely him.

  47. nkd says:

Calgary, BTR will probably never be on US or Canada itunes since it wasn’t offered as a bonus track here.
Just like CLYG was on the UK/EU version but not available for purchase here.
I’ve ordered Trespassing, as have others, from amazon UK to get the two extra bonus tracks. I think it is at $17.00 US including shipping.

  48. Kradamour says:

I actually find myself fast forwarding to the bonus material sometimes because they’re a tad different from his other offerings but still so uniquely him.

    ITA, Teri.
I really like By the Rules, and that island feel to it. A nice summer song for when I am outside and want something running in my head.
And if it was in fact inspired by the time on Bora Bora with Sauli, that would explain Adam wanting to include it on something – and someone pointed out upthread that they thought it does have a sort of Asian feel. So, Japanese version.

  49. Calgary says:

“By the Rules” is also on the UK version of the Adam Lambert’s album, set for release on July 2.

  50. eywflyer says:
