I managed to watch the 9 minutes part of the GN show, have to save the longer one later. Oh mine, a lot of things to catch later… The performance was very good, but not his best of NCOE. I thought he did something different and later read the song was cut. I also wondered if he started the song from the higher key than usually? But as some of you said, he became more relaxed after the beginning, maybe was a little tense. But anyway it blew up the audience, who had not heard him before
Adam is great whatever he sings, especially compared to most other performers… I love to read all those UK tweets about him!
The map song… I love it, as well as all of the bonus songs. Runnin’ and Nirvana are my biggest favorites on TP and I love by the rules too.

I take it she tells raunchy stories, “helps out” strangers, and poses nude, but it all must be done with good grammar.

Kradamour your take on human behavior and group dynamics were quite insightful. IMO Adam looked pretty nervous at the beginning of the song and didn’t hit the notes we have grown accustomed to. By the end he had loosened up and started to look and sound more like himself. Poor fellow must be feeling so much pressure to get the UK to embrace him. I thought his hair and face were smashingly beautiful. The jacket and t shirt would have looked great with fitted black pants and boots. As I’m writing this I am amazed at my own audacity. How can I have the nerve to comment on someone else’s style choices. That’s the beauty of the internet. Hah!
I agree that Adam was the late arrival to the cozy party on the couch and that Miriam could have used to her humor to include Adam but instead continued to dominate the spotlight. Oh well, at the end of the day it was fantastic exposure.

She was actually complaining about him using ‘like’, but in the sentance he used it, like sounded correct.

Just a couple of comments about numbers:
Christmas season sales pretty evident with FYE, not just the Idol bump at work there.
Other debuts last few weeks not doing so great either (i.e. Alan Jackson, Rush, Usher). Sign o’ the times? Alan Jackson only sold 73k the first week. And Usher’s number of only 120k was low for him too IMO.
I don’t think FYE was released worldwide in Nov. 2009. Wasn’t it very spaced out, with some countries much later? I don’t think RCA is banking just on US sales now, hence the almost simultaneous worldwide rollout and the European promo back in February and now. The singles, videos and album seem to be doing pretty well abroad.
UK promo seems to be doing pretty well, too.
Seems like RCA plans more singles from this album, per the Billboard article about Adam/RCA. I’m not stressing about US numbers – hopefully the album will continue a slow but steady sales stream with word of mouth and Adam’s one-offs and the Queen gigs. Probably will start Asia/Pacific promo before and after the Japan concerts.
I noticed that Trespassing regular came up quite a bit on iTunes with that $7.99 sale, at one point right next to Deluxe.
And at Amazon, Deluxe CD is at #76, while at Barnes & Noble it’s #39. So, sales are still happening.
It’s a whole different ballgame this time around.

Riskylady, there definitely was the Christmas factor at work back in 2009. According to the Idol Chatter archives, Week 6 (ending 1/3/2010) sales for FYE were 17,000 which was -72% from the Week 5 numbers posted above. The Soundscan Top 200 as a whole dropped 64% that week. It is possible that FYE sales were somewhat front loaded as a result of holiday sales, but even in January 2010 the album sold the following:
Week 6 (1/3/10) 17,000 (-72%)
Week 7 (1/10/10) 11,000 (-35%)
Week 8 (1/17/10) 12,000 (+9%)
Week 9 (1/24/10) 20,000 (+60%) Oprah appearance
Week 10 (1/31/10) 15,000 (-22%)
Through Week 10, FYE had sold a total of 492,000 units in the US.

Ron, it is brutally hot and humid now here in Key West. Immediate shower required after any walk or significant time spent working outside.
Hoping for some sort of change to the current trajectory for Adam – publicity from Queen shows, increased airplay for NCOE, concert and possible TV appearances in the US in late July and early August, something. There is very little to sustain album sales right now. Amazon and iTunes sales the last couple of weeks have propped things up to some extent but you can only run sales for so long.
Think of the benefits. The cold preserves you and you’d get to see me more often!
Ron, I love Toronto – if only there were a field office for my job there! I do hope to travel there sometime late this year or early next year for a visit – I have friends in Buffalo too and it’s been too long since I’ve seen them.
