After a very busy couple of weeks of promo and radio concerts following the release of “Trespassing” on May 15, Adam will head to London early this month to begin preparations for his upcoming concerts with Queen. He will do some album promo and a couple of live performances in the UK as well, where Trespassing is set for a July 2 release date. One of these shows is the “Rays of Sunshine” charity event at the very prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. Adam will also return briefly to the US for a free radio concert in San Francisco on June 24.

Our featured photo (Brian Ach – Getty Images) for this month shows Adam in a very happy mood while performing at the KTUPhoria radio concert. Enjoy the chat!

eywflyer, is that the one with those huge burly guards that we could see in all the vids? Didn’t they take cameras and phones away from people or something?

  2. luval says:

This is how WinStar describes Adam on their website:

“Citing influence from various artists, Lambert has become recognized for his flamboyant, theatrical and androgynous performance style, and his powerful and technically skilled tenor voice with multi-octave range. He has accrued numerous awards and nominations, including a Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and has sold nearly two million copies of his debut album worldwide as of April 2012 and 4.2 million singles worldwide as of January 2011. The LA Times ranked him fifth in its list of the top 120 American Idol contestants”.

Nice write-up but the description flamboyant, theatrical and androgynous is a little dated. But honestly, I miss all that. Frown

Our Texas friends (TWHE and nkd) might be interested in this new Oklahoma gig.Wink

Sorry I forgot the state. I am in Texas and got excited

  5. milwlovesadam says:

Nice write-up, but “androgynous” –really? Flamboyant, sure!!!

  6. dcglam says:

Sorry for leaving you off of my above list, aely. I didn’t realize we had another Texan on the blog. Wink What part of Texas are you from?

Celebrating 10 Years of American Idol:

Hoping to find the next pop superstar, the music competition has more than made an indelible mark in pop culture and is responsible for its share of lasting voices (Kelly Clarkson! Carrie Underwood! Daughtry! Adam Lambert!) and plenty of disposable ones.

    and…

Adam Lambert (Season 8, 2009). Lambert’s Broadway theatrics weren’t enough to beat out Kris Allen (the second in a string of recent winners pegged as the “white guy with guitar”), but his unpredictable stage presence and limitless range brought excitement to the competition at a time when it desperately needed it. Bonus points for being one of the few contestants to prove you don’t need to win the show to make your mark.

New interview from Canada. Very nice to hear him talk about the music. Not one gay mention. How “post-gay.” Nice.

I just checked ticket sales for the concerts/acts at the Okla casino from

    Des Moines.

  13. luval says:

Wonder how long Adam will be doing these “one off?” shows. Is this the Trespassing tour? Hope not. Guess these concerts are a testing ground…market research to see the response. Honestly I can’t wait until summer is over to see what if anything will be happening next. I know people in “real life” who want to see him but just aren’t like us….traveling so far for less than an hour show!

  14. milwlovesadam says:

I think this is a testing ground for the real tour, and is still in the “promotional” phase. I do think he will put out a formal tour, and has hinted at that many times. He plans to hit Asia and South America from what he’s also hinted at in interviews.

He was a ground-breaker on GN and headlined his own tour post-Idol. I can’t imagine that he wouldn’t tour for TSP. That’s the only way to make money any more. That and merch.

    Evening, peeps!
So, I was away for about 24 hours and caught up on the posts.
We are so predictable! The 24 hour cycle:
    1. OMG the album is tanking
    2. Numbers? I don’t need no f*cking numbers!
    3. Wait! I would rather know the worst than be surprised.
    4. Y’know, he is looking desperate. So worried about BB…
    5. It is RCA
    6. It is the choice of single
    7. It is the AMAs
    8. It is the (choose one: hair, clothes, etc.)
    9. It is the curse of Idol
    10. He is too old.
    11. Queen concerts are a good thing!
    12. Queen concert…distraction from his music.
    13. Europe is his real fandom. We don’t deserve him
    14. (optional) hand-wringing about grammys and arenas
    15. New shiny toy: new concert, new tweet, new (adorkable/gorgeous/lascivious) photo, new interview

    …and so it goes…
    Smile Smile Smile

I love it here. We are the best Greek chorus ever!
    Clap Clap Clap

  16. luval says:

    Like Ron said…Waiting…Waiting…Waiting…Waiting…….

At WB at the bus, people were shouting out to Adam asking him about merchandise. He said “oh yes, there will be more and better”.

  17. milwlovesadam says:

    ‘Ya know:

    Adam is the eternal optimist.

    And that’s a good thing.

Kradamour, I love your Greek Chorus analogy.

  18. dcglam says:

Yup, that pretty much takes care of it all, Kradamour! Boy, you are good….. Yes

  19. luval says:

haha kradamour, ya never know what’s going to happen with that boy!!! I think I was a part of numbers 2, 7 and 8!!!. Up and down and up and down and up and down, etc. etc. etc…

  20. jlurksacto says:

Up and down and up and down and up and down, etc. etc. etc…

There is a joke punch line somewhere something like that. Okay, off to
watch a Sacto gay league softball game. Some serious players!

  21. milwlovesadam says:

    I always did like a see-saw!!

  22. ultimathule says:

Adam always says he’s an open book, but sometimes wonder at what page.

But, then again, he’s always said it’s not that deep. Maybe that’s the truth.

  23. ultimathule says:

Where the hell is Oklahoma? Is it one of the square states? All I know about it is the musical with Gordon MacRae. Oil? Going to look right now.

  24. Kradamour says:

Went away to watch the Fame interview. Was so sorry when it ended – I can listen to our articulate Adam forever…
The juxtapositions of video clips and still photos was spot-on with great selections. (Loved hearing Adam talk about papgate at the beach, that is obviously still a “WTF” memory for him.)

So funny when he talked about his fanbase – like a “big sister” who has his back lol!!!
When he talks about us now – and I assume that he is talking about “us”, the 29 year olds – there is such warmth and appreciation. I am so proud to be his fan.
    Heart Heart Heart

And I was thinking about the interview in the context of Sauli. The things Adam was describing, his feelings, the situations – to experience all of that alone – and even with the close friends he has kept, when you go home to an empty house at the end of the evening you are alone with your “fame”, and Adam is thoughtful and analytical…there must have been a terrible loneliness.
That same life, though, and the same Fame, would be entirely different if you could go home to someone you love and who loves you, and especially someone who has experienced the same thing and can understand. Not a Drake who whines and wants you to himself, or a Cheeks who has a competitive/jealous/insecure streak, but someone who just loves you for you and is willing to share what Fame means, both good and bad.

  25. ultimathule says:

Looked – it’s just to the east of the square ones. Looks more like a pot with a handle.

I’m hapless and hopeless when it comes to geography.

  26. ultimathule says:

Yeah, it must have been some comfort, Krad, to know we were there.

Not square. Rectangular, I think, with a handle. Dustbowl.
    Depression.

Your comment made me think about that iconic New Yorker cover from quite a few years back, with a prominent Manhattan and then “everywhere else” off to the left on an imaginary map.
When I left Maryland for college in Iowa, I took dozens of pairs of stockings in case I couldn’t buy them there…

  29. ultimathule says:

Still don’t understand what happened in 2008 when I first glommed onto the boy – why this guy? Been watching Idol for a couple of seasons, but, all of a sudden, like a mama duck latching onto a young ‘un, not gonna let this one go. Got me.

  30. ultimathule says:

Well, Krad, familiar with the map and it’s very pertinent to this gal. Went to school in New York City, BUT, grew up on Long Island (pronounced “longgiland” – with the proper immediately identifiable inflections, of course) – and you can’t get much further east than that. Anything west of the Hudson was Terra Incognita (there be dragons – lol).

  31. Kradamour says:

ulti, ITA and share your wonder. And am delighted to share this blog where we can scratch our heads over this and many other issues!

Yawn…off to bed. Final exams start tomorrow, I need to be rested for the marathon grading sessions…

    G’nite, peeps!
    Sweet Adam dreams!

  33. turquoisewaters says:

Is it one of the square states?

Hahaha, ulti, are you looking into my brain? that’s exactly how I would characterize it. You make me feel so much better. When I got the tickets to WB, I had no f**king idea where that was. (I blame it on not having gone to school in the US. I was only expected to find the US on the globe, not any states within. I’m doing a lot better in world geography.) Among many other benefits, Adam stanning is giving me an education.

  34. HK fan says:

thanks Kradamour for bringing a bit of humour and light back into proceedings.

I don’t think its the single choice, I love NCOE, and if you look at the views on the AOL sessions, it has 3 or 4 times views than the other songs.

I was just looking at the q102 page where you can vote green or red for songs and they were all from about 7 artists, with one or 2 others thrown in….Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Rhianna, Gaga, usher, pitbull, etc…

And if you’re into voting, Billboards sexiest male has been extended…

YAHOO, ADAM’S COMING BACK TO WINSTAR!!! Cowboy I saw him there last time (of course!) and it was packed. We’ve seen other big artists there, but I’ve never seen it as full as when BB was there. In fact, I talked a bit with one of the staff and he said it was the first time he knew of where they actually had to bring in additional seating. As far as the security incident – I had pretty good seats for the show and wasn’t even aware of any “situation”. But wow, I can’t even believe my good luck with this show!

So… I would like to present the following video in an effort to encourage additional attendees:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ffo2Oqt8bIM

So grab your cowboy hats and boots and head on down, y’all! I can just see it now: Ron eating ribs, Ron riding the mechanical bull at Billy Bob’s, Ron treating himself to a pair of really fabulous boots in downtown Fort Worth, haha!! Plus, you know that EVERYTHING is bigger in Texas! Call Me

  45. jlurksacto says:

    The Winstar “incident” (from atop)

Nobody knows whether a tweet is accurate or exaggerated, but this scene had tons of witnesses and obviously in a 3000 people venue there can be many sections at a time that would not be aware of anything happening in a different section.

But given that the whole thing started right in the front, there were many witnesses who reported that the disciplinary removal from the theater was unwarranted and the reports from there were not discounted by anyone. The only part where things could have been exaggerated was in what happened AFTER he had been removed, simply because there were not many further witnesses.

The fact that a police investigation was started is though a pretty good indication that things were not exactly clear cut and SOP.

Here are some tweets from that night:

Guy who was taken out at winstar was at barriers in front of stage with crowd packed in behind him. Cop said move back…cont…
cont…guy couldn’t, cop gets angry, grabs guy, drags him through crowd through exit doors. guys wife follows, 3 more cops show up, cont…

cont..cops throw guy on ground, cuff him, then drag him outside, won’t let wife follow. Guy was never belligerent, calmy questioning cont…

cont… cops eventually let him up, uncuffed him and let he and his wife come back in.

Cheryl Hartfield bitsytx @monteriffic u were great nite! But my friend was taken down & cuffed by redneck cop 4 no reason. Luv u, hate these aholes. FU OKLA

Eleaire hippiebert The best part was when the big security guy grabbed the 70+ year old woman (dancing up a storm) by the arm and dragged her to sit down.

    And here is Adam’s tweet:

@WinStarWorld while you have been very gracious to us backstage, please advise your security staff to chill on (cont) http://tl.gd/5vu6fk

And here is Winstar’s response that evening:

    What WinStar said:

@LightLoveAdam We have a standard no picture clause posted for the protection of the artists.

@adamlambert concert goers,I was not able to attend concert tonight, but I have been on the phone with security to understand the situation.

@adamlambert I have been speaking to security about about your concerns regarding this evening.

There are policies in place so far as photography & standing on chairs, as well as rushing the stage, in place to protect people

The incident was handled by police, not WinStar secuirty. There were no arrests though 1 man was held for 10 min after patron complaints.

WinStar consistently reviews security and safety procedures and we will be reviewing this event.

    ————-
    Bottom-line:

We can only hope that this review actually happened and that things are a bit more mellow the second time around. But I am certainly surprised that Adam’s management chose to go back there with a concert. I suppose it is what they have to do to avoid the inflated arena/ concert hall prices charged in the DFW area itself. Sadz.

  46. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

Well… my “incident” comment wasn’t meant to ignite anything! My apologies!

  47. jlurksacto says:

Nothing ignited. First paragraph kinda covers all “views”

Nobody knows whether a tweet is accurate or exaggerated, but this scene had tons of witnesses and obviously in a 3000 people venue there can be many sections at a time that would not be aware of anything happening in a different section.

Over zealous police everywhere. Murders way down in CA but incidents
of police shooting suspects way, way up.

I do have a couple of real cowboy hats that I forgot I owned! I LOVE ribs … the kind that are slathered in barbeque sauce and are so tender that they start to fall off the bone when you first pick them up off the plate! MMMmmmmm!

Do you really see me riding on a mechanical bull, though? I’m not sure about that one. I think I’m more suited for the little horsey ride for 5 year olds in front of the supermarket.
