nkd, ha, that was my first thought when I saw these photos yesterday….but judging by the smile I’m sure he didn’t mean it that way. Its the British equivilent of the US’s middle finger!

VH1 and NCOE – quoteing from atop
:The wrong info was that NCOE video on VH1 had to get to 20,000 plays before VH1 would add it to the Top 20 voting ballot. This was tweeted as “secret” info. It was so secret that VH1 clearly did not know that was how it was done.
VH1 tells people to vote for their favorite video AFTER it is on the Top 20 video ballot. They use the votes and other factors to select the #1 video.
“When Adam had BTIKM up 99.9% of the votes went to him yet the #1-10 received no votes. It’s just likw SNOL and Open House Party the so called All Request Music program that doesn’t play requests.”
We have no idea who many votes BTIKM got. I do know some Adam fans believed they got around the max votes per day rule but they probably did not. BTIKM was not likely to be #1 no matter how many votes it got because it was not a Top 20 radio song and had low sales. (We know VH1 uses votes + radio airplay + other factors, probably track sales).
SNOL played NCOE last night because they got requests and the song fits their format. BTIKM is not a Saturday Night Party song and does not fit their playlist. They have been a great Adam supporter.
I also expect OHP will play NCOE because it is a danceable track. There was not chance they were going to play BTIKM which is not a hot party song. They have also supported Adam.
But let me reverse the question — how many of the VH1 Top 20, SNOL and OHP Adam fans requesting Adam’s music actually wlisten to the shows?
I recall that SNOL put an fan on the air who requested IIHY and she was not listening to the show, and really did not even know what the show was. Thankfully, they did not ding Adam for this foolish fan.

Ummm, I read that voting/viewing before the video is in the top 20 doesn’t
do any good. After – views is part of the formula for moving up. All of the
radio station contests, etc are about the hits. PDs control what is played
on radio. DJs not so much/at all. Requests (not spams) for single play good.

lists radio stations to request single (NCOE). SO, 20K
plays for VH1- urban myth. Play cause you like it – no other reason.

I do know that paps and press in the UK are important for Adam at this time. I won’t borrow trouble and hope the paps enjoyed the smiles!

Maybe the paps were just getting a bit too much in their face, or said something rude. Lots of explanations. F**k off with a smile might have been just the right response. Paps are usually not that sensitive, after all it is pretty much their job to invade other people’s privacy.
Paps take pics to sell – it’s all about the dollar/euro. Don’t think they
determine what press does.

I am insane. I sent an e-mail to the Polar observatory in Antarctica and asked them if they would like a music cd sent to them. Didn’t say who it was. Hey, they need some tunes down there!

I love the fact that Brian May – THE Brian May! – is an Adam stan.
And there you have it…stupid numbers from the masses, and love from one of the many professionals who have gushed over him. Adam is a musician’s musician and perhaps actually is too good, as someone posted above, for adoption by the masses. I hope that is not true, but Adam will have a profitable and successful career regardless of whether he plays arenas.
I have to admit that I feel a certain amount of smug-ness (which I hope is not a regular part of my character) on behalf of all of us who are able to appreciate Adam’s skills and to love him for who he is.
And sadness for a society and pop music taste that overwhelmingly reward such lyrics as “baby baby baby oh”.
But if the grammys fail to recognize and reward the talent…there will just be no excuse for that, and I will be so sad for Adam, who has every right to be hoping for – and even to expect – that recognition by his peers in the industry.
