After a very busy couple of weeks of promo and radio concerts following the release of “Trespassing” on May 15, Adam will head to London early this month to begin preparations for his upcoming concerts with Queen. He will do some album promo and a couple of live performances in the UK as well, where Trespassing is set for a July 2 release date. One of these shows is the “Rays of Sunshine” charity event at the very prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. Adam will also return briefly to the US for a free radio concert in San Francisco on June 24.

Our featured photo (Brian Ach – Getty Images) for this month shows Adam in a very happy mood while performing at the KTUPhoria radio concert. Enjoy the chat!

I forgot to add that John Mayer had 71% percent drop and nobody is predicting an immediate failure. So?

  2. AL says:

Where do you see these world wide / international charts?

    Here – http://www.mediatraffic.de/albums.htm

    What is interesting to note:
    Global First week sales – Total 92k (77k US, 15k Int’l)
    Global Second week sales – Total 40k (22k US, 18k Int’l)
So sales declined in the US by 71% but increased internationally by 20%. It may be that the album was released to more countries but now US and international sales are close. We will see if this continues when we get final international numbers at the end of this week.

ETA Numbers from the Global chart might be adjusted sales numbers (see Oksana’s post below) based on where the album was sold. So the break for US and Int’l sales might be different than shown above.

  3. Oksana2000 says:

AL, are you sure that a number shown on Global Chart represents number of album sold? As I recall this was some combination of sales and airplay, but I could be mistaken.

  4. luval says:

Oksana…I was wondering how John Mayer was doing after his first week…thanks.

  5. glambotgram says:

Is itunes the only place you can buy the video? I don’t have an itunes account.

  6. Oksana2000 says:

    Chart Methodologies
    Album-Chart
THE TOP-SELLING ALBUMS ACCORDING TO GLOBAL SALES DATA AND NATIONAL ALBUM-CHARTS
OFFICIAL NATIONAL CHARTS FROM USA, JAPAN, UNITED KINGDOM, GERMANY, AND FRANCE WITH REAL SALES DATA
OFFICIAL NATIONAL CHARTS FROM CANADA, AUSTRALIA, ITALY, SPAIN, BRAZIL, MEXICO, NETHERLANDS, SWITZERLAND, BELGIUM, SOUTH AFRICA, SWEDEN, AUSTRIA, NORWAY, DENMARK, FINLAND, IRELAND, ARGENTINA, CHILE, COLOMBIA, VENEZUELA, NEW ZEALAND, MALAYSIA, POLAND, PORTUGAL, HUNGARY, CZECH REPUBLIC, SLOVAKIA, GREECE, AND SOUTH KOREA ARE WEIGHTED TO THE SIZE OF ITS MARKETS ACCORDING TO THE LATEST IFPI-STATISTICS
(EXCEPTION: ALBUMS WITH HUGH SALES IN THESE COUNTRIES ARE WEIGHTED HIGHER)
ALBUMS WHICH PLACED IN MOST OR ALL OF OUR MONITORED COUNTRIES, GET ADDITIONAL POINTS FOR COUNTRIES WHICH HAVE NO OFFICIAL CHARTS LIKE RUSSIA, CHINA, INDIA, TURKEY ETC.

Something like that. It’s a point system.

Oksana, I saw that you found the section for their methodology. I guess it is not 100% based on actual sales numbers or is adjusted based on where the albums were sold. I had thought that only the singles sales were based on sales and airplay.
So I sit corrected – who knows for sure what percentage of that global total is actual US sales versus International – or as Emily Litella said:

Woot! I came back in the land of internet access and the first thing I see is that I can pay for the NCOE video!
BUT WHY THE FRICKING FRACK DID IT TAKE SO LONG!!!!!?????
Yet another example of peeps with money in their hands being scorned!
    Question Question Question

Adamland, gotta agree with your points re Adam being too good; I have often thought and even posted the same. I try and try and I just can’t fit the songs on Trespassing into the playlists here in my mind. Maybe Shady. But there is just something about them that doesn’t quite mesh with what I hear on my local radio, and I can’t put my finger on what it is.
And I say this as someone who really loves the album as a whole.
Part of it may also be Adam’s age and musical interests – I doubt that he listens to a lot of what riskylady calls “rap and crap” = so his ear isn’t attuned to that – and frankly I don’t see him having any interest in making that kind of music, no matter how much he wants to please his audience.

Re our age: Could be. And if Adam wanted us to be less visible I would stay away, at least until he is more established. But he goes out of his way to thank us and to tell us how much he appreciates our support and knowing that we have his back. So I’ll be going to Iowa.

And, thanks, Kradamour, for taking the lead on this!

Not me! Can’t remember who it was who suggested the initiative but it was someone else. Thanks for the shoutout, though!

OK, off to buy the video!
    Grin Grin Grin

  12. HK fan says:

I’m not sure how Itunes works, but Adam needs some ratings under his video. Saw a screen cap, and although he had the no1 position, he had no stars or comments, JB had 4 stars and over 2,500 comments. Wouldn’t having a high star rating make more non fans interesting in clicking on it?

  13. turquoisewaters says:

    AL: thanks for the link!

  14. sparkle says:

Kradamour – I made the suggestion of e-mailing my local station, and then you went ahead and did it. I then sent an e-mail to FM 97 asking when they were going to add NCOE to their playlist so I wanted to give you credit for following my suggestion before even I did!

  15. sparkle says:

NO MORE DOOM & GLOOM, PEEPS!! Today, I was reading People Magazine and the Music section had a little square devoted to Trespassing. They gave the album 4 stars out of 4. I’m sure someone posted it weeks ago but it was so great just to open a magazine and see Adam’s face smiling up at me. I truly feel that we just have to be patient at this point. I know that’s hard to do, but I think the album we need to be comparing Trespassing to is Adele’s, which is still on the charts after a long time (need to check release date). Adam put out a fantastic album. My drive to my new job is almost long enough to hear the album in its entirety and I haven’t gotten bored yet. When people finally start hearing these songs, this album is going to take off. Slow and steady thus far may be, in Adam’s case, the way to win the race and we may well look back and actually praise RCA for releasing BTIKM early to start the slow build up and picking NCOE second. Because when peeps do listen to the album, it gets better and betterer!! Adele’s songs stand out from the rest of the rap and crap and that’s why she has been so successful. So I think she has paved the way, along with Lady Gaga, for Adam to have great success in the future. We just need to hold on a little while longer and do whatever we can to promote the album!! Call me a cockeyed optimist, but that’s how I truly feel. Just MHO!!

  16. Kradamour says:

I wanted to give you credit for following my suggestion before even I did!

In that case, Sparkle, I am happy to take a bow!
    Wink

ETA: just read your last post. (claps hands)
And I think that this is right. There is a balance between “doom and gloom” on the one hand, and desperate cockeyed optimism on the other.
If it is true that Adam is truly talented (yes) and that cream eventually rises to the top (yes) and that slow and steady often wins the race (yes) and that he has a solid fan base that has proven itself (yes) and that he is getting stellar reviews (yes) and huge props from music professionals (yes)…then I think he will continue to have the support of his label and will have a great tour and make a third album. He may or may not ever play arenas but I don’t see that as a true measure of success – and I’m not at all convinced that Adam does, either.

or maybe I am just living in the glow of the amazing video. So happy to have it! On the 50″ screen…ooh la la…
    In Love

Thanks, glambotgram. Am spending my time “watching” the video on VH1 in another tab. Comments are great! Guess we have to get a lot of views before they’ll have it for voting. Someone said 20,000.

Am voting billboard’s sexiest singer tonight & 102.7 top 10 at 10. This is all in between other things I should be doing!

  20. turquoisewaters says:

Re itunes video ratings: I just went ahead and left a review and rating. They let you click on the ratings (stars) without a review and say “thank you”, but I’m not sure it counts without an actual review, so I did both. Big Smile

Can’t wait to see the movie in December. The cast looks impressive.

asifclueless Thanks for all your good words. I, like you, love, love Les Miz and try not to miss any opportunity to see or hear it; have the DVDs also and the Original cast CD. Will see the movie…but feel I’ll always want the “live” version but maybe we’ll both be surprised.
Absolutely– a toast to our missing friends and fans in London! Hear! Hear!

    Les Miz!!!

There was a Japanese animated TV sspecial of Les Miz from 1979. It is surprisingly wonderful – here is a link to one of the parts:

I have seen it with subtitles but this gives the idea. (It is in French.)

Another Top 40 add in Philadelphia, and I think this one has a big market. I am only an amateur analyst, but I’d say this shapes up to be a very good day. Go ahead and correct me, experts! (Somehow I am fascinated by this a adds page today.)

Kradamour: Better the wrong audience than no audience I’d think. Although I’d be happy to yield the first 3 rows to the young and pretty. Maybe some of the SPG should consider how they could lesson their sparkle cow footprint. (Ouch, sorry, that was rude, but I partially include myself.) When I go to San Francisco, I’ll bring my two kids. We average out to 22 years old.

  26. sparkle says:

Thanks, Kradamour, for the applause! I love the way you put it all so succinctly into one ginormous sentence! And, although the glow from the amazing video is certainly bright, I don’t think you’ll change your mind even when that glow diminishes!

Thanks for the VH1 link, glambotgram! I watched NCOE and hit replay but it went to BTIKM. Seeing them back to back, it got me thinking. In much the same way the song was a “transition” song to ease the differences in sound between the first and the second album, the video is a transition between the old Adam glam look to the more natural, new Adam polished look and helps the viewers see the two extremes and then the middle ground that Adam is sporting and seeking in the last shot. Couldn’t get past the eyes before to see the whole look. I’m sure if I tried I could say this more articulately, but I’m sure you peeps can figure out what I’m saying!

  27. luval says:

Hi sparkle… What I do after the video is over is go back one page to the link and then start over. I bookmarked the page too. I’m never sure if hitting replay counts so I basically start from scratch.

And you are so upbeat and insightful about Adam and his transition. Makes so much sense. I really like the song NCOE but the video just ok to me. Apparently I’m in the minority and that is a good thing!

luval, I’m right there in the minority with you. I really just don’t get the video at all. Only good thing about it to me is that Adam is in it and it has his voice and song. I’m just so literal on so many fronts.

ETA: To me, IIHY is still leading the pack (by far) among his videos.

  35. luval says:

glamberthaf28, I did go back and check out your costume and makeup when you went to see Adam. I had been in and out of town for most of that week and only scanned the comments. Somehow I missed your post I guess, so I appreciate your mentioning the pics again. Great ideas. I really, really liked the yellow and black striped eyeshadow. I’m sure Adam approved as well. Yes

  37. sparkle says:

  43. Ceddies says:

Thanks for the “A Lot” interview, mils. Loved it.

  44. luval says:

That look at the end of the MSN interview when he says “A Lot” makes me think of The Home Planet’s discussion of Adam and the “end stare” he has at the end of his videos.

While the mood and intention behind each end stare may vary from video to video, it is always there to comfort us like a trusty old blanket.

  45. glambotgram says:

Gawd – he looks incredible in that MSN interview – saved it so I can gaze at it again. (Is his hair darker or just the lighting?)

  47. luval says:

Ultimathule. I think his hair is darker, except of course the sunrise blonde on top. At the bus after the WB show I thought his hair looked very black. Just stunning.

  48. mmm222 says:

I’m on Team sparkle when it comes to the album. We do need to be patient. The album will sell as people who appreciate good quality music become aware of it. It will also do well internationally where people seem to appreciate a more sophisticated sound than the rap and crap we have in the US. Adam should do just fine. Even if his album isn’t a huge commercial success, his live performances are electrifying and he will always be able make a good living entertaining his loyal fan base.

I am going to be out of the country with limited, if any, internet access for most of the rest of the month. This is going to be awful! I will be able to check in again briefly in the 3rd week of June. I won’t be able to sleep that week with all the catching up I’ll have to do before going away again. Thanks to all of you, I will have all the news and pertinent links waiting for me when I return.

  49. glambotgram says:

    Question?

On Vh1 if you go to browse artist my name, it has Lambert, Adam(American Idol)

I then looked up Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry, Kris Allen, Haley even Elliot Yamin, none of the rest of them have the American Idol tag. Why do you think that is?

  50. glambotgram says:
