A very exciting past month for Adam – and for ALL of us, as well. Events from Chatty Man to Live Aid to Fallon to GMA to Trailblazers – and the interviews so numerous they became hard to keep track of. In addition, more beautiful photos including the stunning FAULT magazine with a more “uncovered” Adam than we’re used to seeing. Then, all through the later part of the month the watching for the Adds on radio/Spotify/Shazam/VH1, etc., and the resultant confusion about what should be done to make it happen.

Congrats to Adam for The Original High debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200 albums sales chart. He may not have been number one but the album is getting good reviews and promotion is going well. The single, Ghost Town, is slowly moving up the HAC, CHR and AC charts. To top it all off, though, was the gay marriage ruling which must have given Adam, considering all he’s been through and all he’s done for the cause, immense gratification and happiness.

And onto July…summer may be vacation time for most but to Adam it will be more TV and radio promotion with some special performances thrown in – Splashion, The Trevor Project – and more.

    Yes, “Get The Party Started” was recorded by Shirley Bassey back in 2007.

    I think the official video for the song with Bassey is very interesting. It starts out very dark, very Goth and I don’t usually think of Goth and Shirley Bassey in the same sentence. Add in a little James Bond and it then changes to party mode dancing.

    HK fan I knew my extended family mostly from pictures…while I lived abroad.
    Met them once or a few times during childhood… Only got to know some of them better when we were way into adulthood. Some of them I only meet once a year, or even less, some of them I only see their postings on facebook. With a few I have a closer relationship but it takes quite some time before I got there… or as Dr Phil says… it takes some time to create a history together..

    So enjoy yourself in building these new relations and new history…

    Yes, Pink recorded the original, and very different version, in 2001. It was given a make over for Bassey in 2007.

    That shirt just says “Pride” all over it.

    Methinks that $$$ number for the Queen tour was just for the Europe and UK portions, not the North America tour. I could be wrong. Wondering what Adam took in? Methinks it’s multiple millions. I also think that Brian and Roger are in a position to be quite generous with the boy for “reviving” the “real” Queen. The love, admiration and mad respect is more than obvious.

    It seems that word has finally gotten out about Adam being with Queen. I’ve had several chance encounters and discussions with random people who know NOW about QAL. They didn’t know last year.

    I met a jeweler at the art fair I went to last weekend who is a rock fan, and we were talking about our Summerfest, she saw Keith Urban and had an encounter with him, not rock I know, LOL, but, I mentioned that I saw QAL last year, and she about face palmed on her jewels. We talked a bit, and I mentioned how I was glad that she even knew about it, it was sold out so fast. She said she and her friends tried to go to Chicago, but couldn’t get tix. Then I rubbed it in and told her about Toronto, and that she could see any song on You Tube. I told her AL fans are equally as passionate as Queenies. And that the combination was fire. She was quite into it, and likely has fallen into the glitz by now.

    TaTa my lovelies, off to beach it again, long walks and much exercise, dripping in sunscreen, loving every minute of the sunshine and waves and soft silky sand…..and TOH blaring on our drive to and from…..

    Good to know. I put the computer on low (under 10) and Spotify speaker on full blast. Comes across quite low.

    Also, if you go away for a couple of hours and they detect that your computer is not active, they stop the music.

    I don’t now how long your computer has to go dormant but yesterday I was entertaining for about 5 hours and there was a message when I got back. I generally check the computer for news every couple of hours so the time period must be quite generous.

    Any idea how long they let you play without activity before they intervene?

    The Spotify message said that you could press play to re-start but it wouldn’t work. I had to close and re-open to get it started.

    Fans who have been running two streams simultaneously and muting one of them just found out that the extra stream was all for nought.

    The good news is that some were probably muting both and now they can actually make a difference by running one properly.

    The UK article about Queen earnings says “last year”, so the North American QAL tour figures are in there; The Euro-tour figures aren’t.

    Also, the article says 48 million pounds, which equals approximately 75 million US dollars.

    I read an article about the J-Lo and Iglesias arena tour and they supposedly cleared 1 million dollars per show, so QAL made a lot of additional income, probably in merchandise.

    Ron! Guess what! I had family over yesterday and showed a page on the blog. They were passing around the iPhone and my sister actually clicked the link for your song and put on the headphones. She said: “This is really good!”

    My brothers were talking about Kanye and Glastonbury. I told them about Rufus and Adam’s “reviews”. Finally got them to listen to a bit of Adam. Not strictly sold but they had to admit he wasn’t bad.

    Yes, ulti. Billboard makes an album out of every 10 songs bought and/or every 10 songs streamed, regardless of the song.

    Here is an old discussion board about the methodology. If you check the comments section, it is clear that BB is counting purchases and streams of single songs towards CD sales. It is also clear that a lot of people don’t think it’s right:

    Regarding Spotify streams:
    You can only stream from your account on one device at a time. As long as you don’t mute on Spotify, I don’t see how it can tell if you’ve turned the volume down on your device.
    I’ve made a playlist with all of the album songs plus 11 additional GT. I run it continuously on my ipad with the volume down, but when I want to listen I can plug in my earbuds and it’s set at the right volume for them. Not muted on the Spotify page.

    1500 streams for an album sale equivalent.
    So at that rate about an album every 5 days!

    Thanks, luval, I went back and read the Daily Record article properly. They made 48 million pounds from all of their businesses. The NA tour was only part of that: 16.6 million pounds/25 million US$.

    They are making a heck of a lot as a legacy band without touring.

    Even though Idol is winding down, I hope Forbes does their annual Idol income listing in January because it will run from May 2014 to May 2015 and include Adam’s earnings from both NA and Euro legs of the QAL tour. Adam’s ranking will be very high. Smile Smile Smile Smile
