A very exciting past month for Adam – and for ALL of us, as well. Events from Chatty Man to Live Aid to Fallon to GMA to Trailblazers – and the interviews so numerous they became hard to keep track of. In addition, more beautiful photos including the stunning FAULT magazine with a more “uncovered” Adam than we’re used to seeing. Then, all through the later part of the month the watching for the Adds on radio/Spotify/Shazam/VH1, etc., and the resultant confusion about what should be done to make it happen.

Congrats to Adam for The Original High debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200 albums sales chart. He may not have been number one but the album is getting good reviews and promotion is going well. The single, Ghost Town, is slowly moving up the HAC, CHR and AC charts. To top it all off, though, was the gay marriage ruling which must have given Adam, considering all he’s been through and all he’s done for the cause, immense gratification and happiness.

And onto July…summer may be vacation time for most but to Adam it will be more TV and radio promotion with some special performances thrown in – Splashion, The Trevor Project – and more.

Enjoy the chat!

No, not yet (sigh) these guys must be winning the radio phone in giveaways. I’m counting on winning from about a dozen entries that will be drawn on Monday.

I do know Darren. I’m gad he got tickets.

  7. TLKC says:

I got Los Angeles on that poll, which is weird because I stayed away from the pics that suggested warmer climes (e.g. park pics with palm trees etc.)

I used to spend a lot of time in Los Angels when I was with Disney and the city has a lot of hidden, cultural treasures – the Art Deco architecture downtown, a lively , small theatre scene, the annual Festival of Books. But I would choose London, Rome, Paris or New York over LA. Actually, I would rather be a jet setter Grin

  8. TLKC says:

I saw a London production of Bent in the early 90’s. It starred Ian McKellen and Michael Cashman. We waited outside for autographs until 1:00 a.m. and Ian McKellen NEVER CAME OUT. We finally figured out that he had probably left by another entrance. We did get Michael Cashman’s autograph, though.

Here are Sir Ian’s thoughts on the play and what it meant to him, at the time, as a man who was out to his friends but not to his public:

    http://www.mckellen.com/writings/900104standard.htm

I googled the production and found these images:

    http://www.vandaimages.com/results.asp?inline=true&image=2010EF0799-01&wwwflag=1&imagepos=4

In the US production, the parts were played by Richard Gere and David Dukes.

I would bet that Adam left last night’s performance with a full heart and head. Very powerful and very moving.

I am going to Ron’s for lunch today and thought that I would bring dessert. Yesterday, I decided to make a pie – the first time in over 40 years (actually I may never have made a pie but I distinctly remember “baking” something in my early 20’s.)

I almost broke my back pulling out the Kitchenaid mixer and spent the better part of an hour cleaning and figuring out how to use it (google is a good friend.) Then I spent another hour laboriously making the WORST excuse for a pie that you have ever seen. It gives new meaning to the term “apple crumble”.

There wasn’t enough pastry so I had to find a much smaller, tin foil pie plate and patch up the parts that didn’t reach the rim. The crust wasn’t so much flaky as brittle. The filling was baked dry. Slicing out a serving was murder: I forgot to grease the plate so I had to hack out the bottom layer.

In the middle of the food prep, the cat got a sticker from one of the apples on her front paw. I refused to help her because I was handling food, so she spent 10 minutes trying to get it off and another 10 minutes dipping the paw into her water bowl and licking it over-and-over-again to remove the adhesive, all the while signalling her distress and disappointment in me.

I might take it over to Ron’s to give him a laugh.

  12. luval says:

Very funny story, TLKC. Of course bring it! Worse comes to worse you can go to the bakery in his building.

I can feel the cat’s distress…I hate those apple stickers too.

  13. HK fan says:

TLKC lol….what kind of pie was it??? A for effort thoughSmile for pastry you don’t need a mixer..just rub butter into flour with your fingers until it looks like breadcrumbs, add a bit of sugar, mix with a bit of water, put in the fridge for 30 mins, roll it out cold…

Just off to the airport…wish me luckBig Frown

It is July and the past three years in July I was seeing Adam and getting together with my dear ALLers (once in London and twice in NA), and we assumed that every July there would be an opportunity for Adam based get-togethers, but not this year. It is probably for the better since I wasn’t in a position to plan to leave my father for the amount of time a trip to the States and Canada would take. He is much better and has a lovely Sri Lankan man living with him and taking care of him. I hope that by the time Adam’s new tour comes around I will feel comfortable leaving for a few weeks.

While it seems obvious to the observer that Adam inherited his father’s coloring and height and his mothers delicate features, there is a very long tradition of Jewish redheads, starting with King David. And he was a musician who wrote poems (the Psalms) and soothed the frayed nerves of King Saul with his music. It is no wonder that Adam has the tattoo that says “Music sooths the savage beast”.Big Smile

    I love learning things here’
TLKC, thanks for the background about Bent. I wonder if Adam had any time to chat with Sir Ian and that was mentioned? He’s been on two shows with him now, maybe a backstage chat? And wonder if McKellan knows Adam’s history of having to out himself twice? He would consider the second brave maybe, at the beginning of his second career. But maybe being out before cost him too – maybe in getting leads, maybe being seen by agents in clubs and not getting pursued by a label for being too gay, out there…
Also, rs, thanks for that tidbit about the Jewish gingers!
Maybe his ancestry explains Adam’s special popularity in Eastern Europe, Russia, the Nordic countries! (But then, there’s the emo factor in China, Japan…)
And HKfan, best most simple crust recipe ever.
Hope your flights are good! I find Adam’s music plus crosswords or other games help! (I’m a nervous flyer too!)

I too love learning new things here, and I do! Very interesting about Sir Ian.

HKfan – agree with your “best ever” pie crust recipe. Although I never did much baking, my Aunt was the best “pie maker” ever and she always said:
“It is a poor pie that won’t grease it own pan”

I think the WSOVB will be a great event for Adam. He will be singing for a young crowd, who listen to the radio, who might not even know who he is or that he has a CD out. It’s free, so they don’t much care if it is an “unknown” (to them) singer. I can see my 21 yr. old grandson and his “wolf pack” going to this, if I promise he that I won’t be there! lol

Hi all. I was told that asif missed me. Grin I am well and just busy. My nephew messaged me with the Apple special performance flyer earlier today. Cupertino, Calif. He’s supposed to meet Adam too. I have asked him nicely…ok..begged him to take some vids and pics. They are strict. Employees only. He can’t even invite his sister. Thinking Let’s see what I get later. Yes He’s performing 4-6pm PST My brother-in-law at VMWare got Ariana Grande there recently. He said she was pretty but otherwise just ok.

  34. skaschep says:

Thanks asif and TLKC for worring about me! I’m fine too just also busy. As I posted over a week ago the Tour de France is also being run these weeks and I’m quite the fan. Besides working, following that and also keeping tract of all the Adam goodies and his numbers here in the Netherlands there isn’t that much time left to post and read everything.

Great news here in The Netherlands though! GT achieved Platinum status here! That’s 30,000 units moved including streaming (100 streams is 1 single sale). Shosh confirmed this today:
    https://twitter.com/shoshannastone/status/624619123520057345

Also GT equaled the best position from WWFM on our Dutch Top 40 at #7 today! Airplay is however still increasing so there is still chance that it will continue to rise some more. I’m so exited!

Haven’t heard from Cait much lately as well, but she is tweeting every now and then (or re-tweeting mostly).

Also been busy last weekend as we had an event in the town my father comes from which lasted from Friday until Sunday. Great parties each night. Needed some recuperation this week and also got a cold which made my voice really raspy and husky. That’s luckily better now. Really hard for me not to sing with Adam’s songs when I listen to them and I just couldn’t without hurting my voice more.

An Adam story from Sunday evening:
My Mom asked me about two weeks ago if I might be a fan of Adam Lambert…. Duh! She probably noticed me liking all the Facebook stuff and of course she knew we (my father, sis and I) went to Queen in January. Last night there was a band that was taking requests for the songs they were playing. At the start of their set the guy who was in the middle of the audience who would be taking the requests and also singing a great part of the vocals walked around in the audience and asked me what I would want to hear. I asked him if they also knew GT (of course). He responded like: “Keep that one in mind!”. Seemed he liked it at least.

They put up a great show, but I was a bit reluctant to go up the request stool to really request it since the song didn’t fit the rest of the set that much (although it was very varied with Lenny Kravitz, Guns ‘n Roses, Spice Girls, Nielson etc). My mom however went in line for the requests and got on it at the very end of their set. She said: “My daughters went to Queen with Adam Lambert in January and they would like to hear Ghost Town from Adam Lambert.” They responded with: “That’s a great idea, but we like Queen some more though.” They debated a bit and then decided to do Queen “The Adam Lambert way”. Don’t know what they meant with that but they did a smashing version of ‘Bohemian Rapsody’ and the crowd loved it. The guy who took the requests did the most part of the vocals and he did have a bit of the technique of Adam where he sticks his tongue out to reach the high notes. It was lovely and very nice of my mom to go up there and request that song. And I must agree with the band that that Queen song was probably a better choice for the audience and the party that we had that night.

  39. Kiwi says:

These two events (apple and beach volleyball) are, in my opinion, just the sort of thing Adam needs. It will reach a totally new crowd that would not normally get to see him. We know he can wow people in a live show that would not “get” him otherwise. Can’t wait to hear some feedback.

Totally agree with retjenny and Kiwi about these events. New, young crowds. I like the variety of events he’s been doing – the DJing, TV, listening party, Smashion, GMA, etc. I DO NOT care about award shows, I like these grass-roots appearances and the good TV shows like Fallon, Corden, GMA, the Talk. And this will continue through year-end. Song is climbing. It’s working.
