A very exciting past month for Adam – and for ALL of us, as well. Events from Chatty Man to Live Aid to Fallon to GMA to Trailblazers – and the interviews so numerous they became hard to keep track of. In addition, more beautiful photos including the stunning FAULT magazine with a more “uncovered” Adam than we’re used to seeing. Then, all through the later part of the month the watching for the Adds on radio/Spotify/Shazam/VH1, etc., and the resultant confusion about what should be done to make it happen.

Congrats to Adam for The Original High debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200 albums sales chart. He may not have been number one but the album is getting good reviews and promotion is going well. The single, Ghost Town, is slowly moving up the HAC, CHR and AC charts. To top it all off, though, was the gay marriage ruling which must have given Adam, considering all he’s been through and all he’s done for the cause, immense gratification and happiness.

And onto July…summer may be vacation time for most but to Adam it will be more TV and radio promotion with some special performances thrown in – Splashion, The Trevor Project – and more.

    (Watched the SS vids on the filmqueen channel – all his songs are so similar to each other – and such a lackluster live performer – just don’t get it)

    A lengthy, interesting, and thought provoking review of TOH by “Juneau” that she posted yesterday. I agree with much of what she expresses and disagree with several points that she raises but then that’s what makes it interesting.

    I like “Juneau” very much. We met at a party for Adam’s 29th birthday. She is a whirling dervish of a dancer on the dance floor! WHEW! I could NOT keep up with her … but it was fun trying. Smile

    I’m afraid that I’m going to have to cross her off of my Christmas card list though because she doesn’t like “Evil In The Night”. Laugh

    Yes it is. I think that it is. At least it’s a part of the “job” and can’t one be both an entertainer AND an artist at the same time? I’ve long since thought of Adam as both.

    Anyway, she writes so eloquently and, along with my morning coffee, I enjoyed reading her thoughts, opinions, and ideas.

    Overall, I love “The Original High,” if not unreservedly. It is loaded with superior songs, and his more restrained vocals and stripped down style hopefully will cause more listeners to appreciate the diamond that has been hiding beneath the glitter.

    Thanks for posting that Ron. I certainly agree with her about The Light – the images are elemental, which suits Adam and there are no “like velcro” level images.

    Also, agree with her on Rumours and Lucy, which are not repeaters for me.

    She is not crazy about Underground but it is contemporary R&B and a terrific song, imho. It’s catchy and current.

    EITN, to me, is the Cuckoo of this era: it was an early choice for live performance because it’s an immediate crowd-pleaser; a perfect way to send non-fans away from an event thinking “that was fun – let’s check put the CD!” For many of us it is a “repeat-play” and it could be great for radio – a palpable hit – but maybe not the first song you want to pop into people’s heads when they think of Adam.

    Shame is another repeater that may not fit the image. With One Direction, it would have made #1 in a few weeks but it is very boy-bandy and Adam is a “grown-assed” man.

    From a career-defining POV, both WWFM and Ghost Town are in the slow lane and it would be great to have something fast next: The Light, TOH and TIDS (So let the record show, I never let you go, Can we get back….) I LOVE all three of these songs.

    A lot of people think it will be ALN, which most people love but not all of us repeat. I know nothing about radio, so perhaps the “radio-ready” arguments are valid. It certainly plays well to the mood of winter and has a great early line “turn on the radio”.

    Part of Adam’s challenge in the US market is the north-eastern seaboard, where they have real winters. If you were to read Vanity Fair, Vogue and New York Magazine, you would think Adam didn’t exist. He has to break that market and ALN fits seasonally.

    I would really love to see TOH next but, if it is the third single, then it would be a shoo-in for 2016 song of summer.

    BTW, for some silly reason, all of TOH has been down-loaded twice on my iTunes, so every song is technically a repeater for me and I don’t skip any of them. Laugh

    I wasn’t exactly knocking Balenciaga or Sam Smith when I posted about their fashion association. I just want to know why no one is grabbing Adam.

    One of the things about SS is that he doesn’t have a strong fashion image, so Balenciaga can actually work from scratch with him – re-image him to their vision. He is also a comfortable image for the male market (as in, “if B can do that with SS, then maybe B is a good label for me.)

    Adam and his fashion image is STRONG. If an established label were to use him it would have to be strong itself. St Laurent would work. Lanvin and some of the more buttoned down labels – not so much (unless they were looking to add edge.) Alternatively a younger, newer label might use him to define themselves.

    IMHO, Adam would probably prefer an established label. More prestige. Also, he will not be able to wear competitive brands for major events so it will have to be a good one!

    Hi asif Waving Thanks for the links to the Merryweather concert. It was the last of my three and I was down in that sweaty, electric pit with cwm, mmm222, and M next to the small stage. nkd and adamized were standing on the side where there was more air. And that is where I saw YOU and waved from afar. I wish we could have reconnected after the show…..but next time.

    Ron, you know I love you dearly, but have to say: I cannot stand Juneau or that blog. I sort of blame them for starting that whole disagreeable meme about Adam’s fandom being composed of middle-aged women with their book, which I think led to the “glitter cows” thing, and their stance with Monte.
    And who is the “us” in her quote?
    Because, listening to the many Interviews Adam has done, it seems he has pleased himself with TOH. Maybe, just maybe, she (and us older fans) aren’t his target, but he did say there is something for everyone – to the older fan who complained about him “becoming a pop thing.” He said this is the kind of music he loves, listens to.
    I mean, “it ain’t that deep!” It’s for fun, for listening pleasure. Personally, I don’t listen to Adam with a critical ear – I just enjoy his voice and most all his music. I don’t feel like me not absolutely loving any song or career choice means it’s important for him to know.
    And since he hates repeating himself, the next album will be different from these 3.
    So I’ll pass on her pontificating forever, and her continual “use” of Adam for profit. Just IMHO. (It’s a rant, I know, I know…..)

    Three critically blessed albums, this one getting the best radio reception (which makes him really happy (in MANY countries) and yesterday still got 5 more Top40 adds and 1 HAC. It’s picking up more audience over 10 million now, which they say helps sales.
    Adam At Morongo:.”I really believe in this album damn it!!” That’s the opinion I care about!

    risky yay I agree with everything you said. I was thinking the same but you worded it so nicely. I dislike them so much I never go there to read what they have to say. And my favorite song on TOH is Evil in the Night. I am not a fan of ALN because of the “noise”.

    I’ve always been uncomfortable about fans addressing Adam directly. It seems presumptuous. I can’t even address him directly in a tweet, unless he is asking fans a question. Blush

    TLKC, thanks for the list of new stations! I love knowing that, not just the number of stations. I would love to see a map of the U.S. With the stations, HAC, AC and Top40, marked, just to see how it is gradually filling in.
    They said it took 6 months for WWFM to peak at #10 right? So I don’t mind waiting…this is a HUGE market and slow and steady I think will work. I’m very encouraged by the # of adds coming on, and that WB has promo planned through December. I really think we’ll see Adam back in the States in the last quarter after a little more int’l, and pretty sure he’ll work some in in SA during the QAL stint. I’ve never cared for the idea of his music being played by QAL, but somehow I think Lucy just might fit a little. Anybody?
    Or maybe he can do a few little one-offs with Brian (with LOTS MORE guitar riffing!!!!)
