A very exciting past month for Adam – and for ALL of us, as well. Events from Chatty Man to Live Aid to Fallon to GMA to Trailblazers – and the interviews so numerous they became hard to keep track of. In addition, more beautiful photos including the stunning FAULT magazine with a more “uncovered” Adam than we’re used to seeing. Then, all through the later part of the month the watching for the Adds on radio/Spotify/Shazam/VH1, etc., and the resultant confusion about what should be done to make it happen.
Congrats to Adam for The Original High debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200 albums sales chart. He may not have been number one but the album is getting good reviews and promotion is going well. The single, Ghost Town, is slowly moving up the HAC, CHR and AC charts. To top it all off, though, was the gay marriage ruling which must have given Adam, considering all he’s been through and all he’s done for the cause, immense gratification and happiness.
And onto July…summer may be vacation time for most but to Adam it will be more TV and radio promotion with some special performances thrown in – Splashion, The Trevor Project – and more.

Warner Brothers highlighted this Billboard poll for Fan Army face-offs. There are four face-offs. I checked out all fan groups and Adam has over 8,000 votes, second only to New Kids on The Block who are up against Josh Groban’s fans (?!)

TLKC, NKOTB has over 21k votes in that BB fan army thing, Adam is second with over 11k. Pisses me off!! They aren’t even a truly active artist right now, just a touring act.
I have deep suspicions about Jason Lipschutz who organized this. A couple of weeks ago he came out with this “poll” for the best songs/album of the first half of 2015, two weeks before the end of June and totally excluded Adam while including some artists who sold less and chart lower.
Now he includes NKOTB in a contest against current artists? Stacked, IMHO.

LOL riskylady! Did TNKOTB actually rack up 9,000 votes in the last hour and a half? I was blown away by the size of their vote because I figured that their fans are too grown up for that kind of stuff.
In view of the fact that none of the artists are at the top of the charts, it is a bit suspect.
Perhaps WB thought it was a chance to get BB’s attention?

I ran a bunch of errands after work today and popped in to Best Buy, I had a 10 dollar reward and thought I’d reward myself with another CD! So, I went to look for it,and it wasn’t a featured CD anymore, it was buried in the racks, and I bought the last copy.
At the checkout, I asked if they would be re-stocking any more, and was told that it would be automatic. So, I asked how many? They said three. Three? Just three? Yup, that’s a standard re-order for most CD’s I was told.
I don’t like the cover photo from Metrosource. He looks like an airbrushed mannequin. IMHO.
Am gonna stop at my independent record store soon & see how many they have left. There was only one a couple of weeks ago. Supposedly you buy one & they sound-scan three. Target had at least 10 the other day.

Hi luval! I don’t know what Shazam is trying to do now but it started out as an song identifying app, which is a great idea, since any radio station I have listened to in the last 10 years plays a string of songs and then names them all (really fast.)
It is a really worthwhile app. It took me a week of singing what I could recall of my first listen of La Vida Loca before someone recognized the song (and this, as it turns out, was long after it had peaked on radio.)
Somewhere along the line, the industry realized that a song that was frequently identified this way would probably be a real hit, since people would only Shazam stuff they liked and didn’t recognize.
That’s why we were originally told we could only do Shazam once.
Now that Shazam is trying to diversify it’s usage, it is coming up with other ways to connect regularly. Whether those other things matter is another thing.
IMHO, the industry is probably only interested in a user’s first Shazam.
What’s interesting is that Shazam can tell you the source of your listening (i.e. GMA concert.) I would love to know how they do that.
In the beginning 411 The Music suggested setting up Shazam early and using it on other songs so that you would not be seen as a Glambert Shazamer. This means that profiles matter. If this is true and they can tell the source, then they may be very sophisticated about tapping into the “who” and “where” of Shazaming.
The remixes are going to be a big boost to Adam because GT will/should be Shazammed at clubs a lot in the next few weeks and that particular audience is valued by the industry.
One thing is certain: Shazam has a purchase link to Tunes etc. The best kind of Shazam is the one where you identify the song and then you click on the iTunes button to buy it. That kind of “thumbs up” for a song is as good as it gets (and you can bet that those Shazams are counted.)
Interesting: the BB Fan Army has NKOTB at only 16K votes now. Looks as though there was a massive correction at some time during the night. Adam is winning his section handily at 12K.

Q3 has pointed out that the singles purchases help the CD sales anyway because the BB’s “Sales Plus Streaming” chart counts singles and converts to CD sales.
BTW, I am NOT a fan of Michelle Collins after her prevarications during The View’s “LGBT vs. religious rights right” interview with guest host (!?!?) Candace Cameron Bure. Whoopie tried to help Ravon Symone at one point but the whole thing was a mess.
At one point Michelle says that $135,000 fine given to the bakery seems a bit high.
The woman had one great interview with Adam – which is not that hard to do, since he is a dream interviewee – and that does not a great person make.

When I opened my eyes this morning, I suddenly had a big smile on my face when I remembered yesterday’s get together with TLKC in her beautiful backyard garden. Thank you so much TLKC for a lovely afternoon!
Feeling good (hey, that might make a great song title), I was happily surfing my usual internet haunts when I made the mistake of going to “Entertainment Weekly”.
I enjoyed my subscription to that magazine for 14 years but cancelled it after the review for “Trespassing” was published. (“Adam Lambert’s big gay album” – WTF! – and that was just for starters as Melissa Maerz continued her tirade).
I’ve been going to the EW website for the past number of weeks knowing that there would be a (hopefully good) review for “Ghost Town” and ultimately “TOH”. Well, I guess that I don’t know very much because both have been completely ignored by EW. How could they dismiss what, prior to its release, so many “insiders” predicted would be the song of the Summer? But, they did.
With today’s article, written by the EW staff, no less, without mentioning Adam by name (but it couldn’t be clearer who they are referencing) they not only dissed him but, to me, it seems like and feels like a slap across the face.

Those of you who know me know that I’m a fairly easy-going guy but, at this moment, I’m livid! How dare they!!

EW is trolling for hits and they don’t deserve it. Also, they are focussing on replacing tweenie gods like Justin Bieber. They are really baiting the Beliebers. They are counting on us to get the FM reference and we should ignore.
The fewer hits they get the less they will focus on the baby stars.
I like Troye Sivan. He is intelligent, thoughtful and articulate. Adam has tweeted him a few times and has clearly watched some of his videos and his music.
ETA: some guy named Pete has spoken for Glamberts without mentioning Adam’s name, which is wonderful. I just voted his statement up and will leave it at that.

This whole Shazamming by artists seems to me copying him, but I think many will just use it to perpetuate the same “in” list we hear now on radio to exhaustion. I am willing to do A LOT to support Adam, but the endless angst and frustration and uncertainty about just what it is that we should be doing has finally beaten me down.
Shazam, streaming, which remixes, how many remixes, where best to buy CDs, how to best break up purchases at various stores…and none of it with any certainty that it is the right or best thing…contests, YouTube views, calls/requests to radio stations (should we? Or not? When? How often?)

I won’t be buying remixes because I really do not like any of them.
I LOVE Adam but we can’t do this for him. It has to just happen like it happens for other artists. So no angst here, I was disappointed in the charting of this album, but can’t let it bother me. I hope it happens for him!
I just downloaded the free remix and it is on now. I really dislike it. I can’t stand all the jarring noise while waiting to hear Adam’s voice. Are all the remixes like this? I bought remixes in the past, but I can’t imagine listening to these. Adam’s original intention with the song is better than what anyone else does with it. Do I pay for what I don’t like and will never listen to just to help Adam? Will my few dollars make any difference? I agree with what glambot just posted. Fandom is fun and loving. It shouldn’t make me feel guilty because I am not doing enough to support him (we don’t have spotify and the other streaming services here).
