Just got off the phone with luval, and we’re all set for her to pick me up at Toronto airport!! Yay!!!
So, here’s a for realz story that happened to me today:
I was at the new gas station/market near my house ( upscale one at that ) and the sound system was playing Crazy Little Thing Called Love, and I’m shopping ( granola bar and iced tea for my trip to Chicago to catch my flight, and Dramamine, but, I digress) , and I guess I was singing along and bopping a bit, because this burly rocker looking dude comes up to me and, says,
“Don’t you fucking love Queen?” And he’s doing that rock hand gesture, and and in a zone
I said , yeah, I do
He said ” I hear they’re on tour and KILLING it”
And—–
“I hear the new singer is off the hook great.”
I’m smiling and nodding, and I said, unh-hunh, I saw them in Chicago
“NOOOO f****cking way!!!”
Nodding, yesss, and I’m leaving in the morning to see them again–
He gets his friend, another burly rock dude, wearing a Zep T shirt, “This little lady saw F****cking Queeeeeen, and she’s gonna see them again!!” “We tried to get tickets for the Chicago show but couldn’t.” I didn’t have the heart to tell them they should have joined a fan club to get VIP pre-sale codes.
I’m just LOLOLing and said that the show was awesome, and that the singer’s name was Adam Lambert, from Idol, and told them to look for some vids, and about his costumes and they said they would check him out.
This was hands down my favorite “Adam” moment to date. So funny I can’t even properly relate it!!

What a beautiful day here! I’m looking at a cloudless, deep blue sky and there’s bright sunshine all around. I wish this weather would hold because tomorrow, with a 90% “chance” of rain, it’s gonna rain. Taking an umbrella to the concert was not part of the plan!
I can’t believe that it’s July 12th and those not already here in Toronto will be arriving later on today and meeting for dinner. luval has backed out of her driveway by now and is on her way to meet mils at the airport. jlurksacto has driven to the airport in Sacramento for what sounds like the 14th time …
… and is on his way. I’ll be seeing people tonight I haven’t seen in 3 years, since Ste.-Agathe, and will finally get to hug and hold my hello gorgeous girl for the first time.

GOSH, hi everybody! Have been deprived of wifi and only brief phone signals since Monday night while crossing beautiful Canada by train. Felt like an Agatha Christie novel with a very varied and interesting collection of fellow passengers ( hubby does a very good Poirot impression). No murders to solve, though.
FINALLY we are about 9 minutes from Toronto so I can read about Houston and Dallas. Great shows!
Congrats nkd on sweet granddaughter, and Ron on your 37th anniversary! Hope we last that long!

Btw, after seeing Saskatoon I am amazed at the turnout for that concert. They must have come from miles around, bless their Queen-loving hearts.
Had one dinner partner who loved Adam on Idol but lost track and was soooo happy to hear of his successes and tour with Queen. Wanted to go to Toronto show but has to fly home to Fla. today. Another couple will try to go tomorrow night, they’re from small town in the Prairies visiting son in Toronto. Others going to YouTube to check out the vids. Lots of interest.

A little bit of a snafu here …
luval uses her cell phone to call and tell me that she’s at the airport for mils. It was 12:50pm and the plane lands at 1:15pm. Great timing!
Except, mils calls me at 1:45pm to say she hasn’t even boarded the plane yet! Thunderstorms in Chicago delayed the flight. She now arrives here at 4:30pm!
It seems luval can make calls on her cell phone but not receive calls (in Canada). We both leave messages but mils and I can’t reach her.
What to do?!
I phone the airport and ask if luval can be paged. Yes, they will do that for me. I pray that luval hears her name on the PA system.
She doesn’t … but coincidentally calls me less than 5 minutes later and I give her the news about mils.
luval‘s probably checking into the hotel now because mils didn’t want her to wait. I hope mils is air borne and on her way. She’ll be taking a cab to Novotel Hotel. She’ll have just enough time to take exactly one deep breath and then go to the restaurant.
It’ll all work out.
Update: mils‘s plane is 10 minutes into the flight. Arrival time is 4:08pm.
She now has time to take two deep breaths before going to the restaurant.
