With Adam out on tour with Queen, the main chat threads are relatively quiet but we still need a place where we can discuss all things Adam that are not Q+AL concert-related. However, I did choose a Q+AL+Band photo for this month’s thread since there are many great Adam photos and mlg posters in the concert threads for everyone to drool over. And after all, it is the summer of Queen + Adam Lambert!!

    Awww, ulti, he’s got such great parents and isnt’ shy about saying so. It’s interesting how his comments are focussed on his mother’s concern about tats and the size of ear plugs. Must be an ongoing theme. As for the facial hair, either she’s fine with it or she picks her spots.

    It seems like only yesterday that I bought my tickets for the Toronto concert weekend and counted 121 days to go.

    Now there are 7 days.

    In just one week, mils and sparkle and riskylady and cher will be sitting in my lap.

    One at a time though.

    Considering the heavy rain ALLer’s experienced in Chicago, I’ve been keeping close watch on the weather forecast for Toronto and keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll have sunny skies for travelers and for the time spent here.

    We’re going to have sunny skies. Yes Yes

    I’m sure the weather won’t vary too much from today’s projected forecast for next week:

    Scrapping the outfit I was going to wear, with 95 degree heat on concert day, I’ll be in a thong and flip-flops.

    On a different note, I’m thrilled that rs and TLKC will be having dinner with Mr. Ron/Gil (LOL) and I on Thursday the 10th to celebrate our 37th(!!) anniversary!

    I can’t think of a better way to start what’s going to be a wonderful few days with friends from here on ALL!

    Setting up the Toronto e-Blast today with full info on Saturday, July 12th dinner at the Hot House Café, which is a short walk from Novotel. Will post the info on the planning thread this evening as well. The restaurant is large and flexible – we will be able to add people right up until the day of the event.

    Also, Northern Spirit and angelowal are organizing a drop-in/ social/cocktail event in their suite at the Novotel on the afternoon of the concert. A great start to the main attraction!! Be there or be square!

    NOTE: Ron made me go through a joint 360 tour of the Hot House Cafe over the phone so that he could identify where the washrooms were. Think he might be planning a sequence of outfits. I had better call the restaurant and ask if they have room for a rolling rack.

    Absolutely! It goes without question that with a three course meal, one has three different outfits.

    We are just ready to roll out for Las Vegas but decided to take a look at our local Orange County Register. The entertainment section has a two page spread on Cher.(no, not our Cher Grin ) She is playing four big sold out arenas in So.Cal.

    $26-$131, Ontario;
    $25.50-$156, L.A.;
    $29-50 = 160.00, Anaheim;
    and $25.50-105.50, San Diego!

    Slim chance we would ever be able to see our BB for 25.00 bucks

    So I just got back from my huge grocery store and have a little Queen/Adam moment. Was wearing my Queen/Adam shirt from Chicago and while leaving the store I hear “How was Queen with Adam Lambert”? I turned around and it was one of the shopping cart guys. Long story short…told him about Chicago, Toronto, etc. etc. etc.

    He says “well I saw Dweezil Zappa” the other night. All I could think of to say was “great!!! always support musicians”. Anyway he mentioned that he had a couple of Queen CD’s. I told him to just go on youtube and look up Queen with Adam Lambert Chicago and he’ll see it all. No mention of Freddie Mercury.

    Adam can take the BS from critics but if that Mikael Wood (from Little Rock, Arkansas) spewed the crap about his beloved Queen, esp Brian and Roger …

    “….. But maybe Lambert is not to be blamed here. Midway through the concert, the singer disappeared for a long, dreary sequence in which May and Taylor performed as old footage of Mercury played on an enormous video screen at the rear of the stage. Taylor’s rendition of “These Are the Days of Our Lives” was especially egregious — an admission, it seemed, that Queen’s glory days have passed.

    But then why launch this pale imitation in the first place? May and Taylor are presumably raking in money from “We Will Rock You,” the Queen jukebox musical that recently closed after a 12-year run in London’s West End …

    That suggests the two are in it for more artistic reasons — except that this production seemed determined not to alter the idea of Queen as it has existed since Mercury’s death.

    The group’s rendition of its signature hit, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” said it all: There was Lambert, belting out the introductory portion of the complicated song, doing the job he’d apparently been hired to do. Then the stage went dark and once again our eyes were directed toward the screen, where Mercury took over for the operatic section — a humiliating demotion for the younger man attempting to honor his idol’s legacy.

    Queen is dead; long live — no, wait, let’s keep it that way.

    Love that Adam spoke out as ulti said … “… it was a nasty hit on Brian and Roger – don’t believe he would have said anything if it had been directed towards himself.”
