With Adam out on tour with Queen, the main chat threads are relatively quiet but we still need a place where we can discuss all things Adam that are not Q+AL concert-related. However, I did choose a Q+AL+Band photo for this month’s thread since there are many great Adam photos and mlg posters in the concert threads for everyone to drool over. And after all, it is the summer of Queen + Adam Lambert!!

Enjoy the chat!

rs your pics are GORGEOUS!! What a treat it was to sit with you and go through all of your gorgeous photos after each show. You should tweet some of those out so others in the fandom can see them, too!

Ron thanks for posting the “party pooper” vid. OMG that was freakin hilarious!

Just managed to get internet briefly on an android hotspot. Finally made it to Spain after an epic 34 hour journey…flight to UK was actually fine, very smooth. Then we were hoping for a quick connecting flight to Barcelona on staff travel. But due to an electrical storm the day before BA cancelled quite a few flights that backlogged onto sat. So after 10 hours sitting in terminal 5, we managed to get on a flight to Madrid (not where we wanted to be)….which then meant a 3 hour train ride to Barcelona to pick up our hire car, plus an hours drive to get to where we’re staying….so have lots of comments and 2 concerts to catch up on so far….

MJ finally posted a review of the Boson QAL show that she attended. “A+ all the way!” WOW! I have never seen her gush like this!

I don’t know much about other singers who have fronted Queen since Freddie’s death, but Adam Lambert was a great choice for a number of reasons. As a world class vocalist, he has the chops to interpret the Queen catalog in a unique and powerful way. But as a Queen fan, he brings reverence to the band’s legacy. Interpretation imbued with both creativity and respect! And as a young singer, he brings energy and excitement to the project. It’s a buzz that founding members, Brian May and Roger Taylor fed off of. The result was a legacy concert that did NOT come off as merely a nostalgia romp. The tour works as a showcase for the classics, but with a 21st century twist.

I’m in Toronto. Yesterday, as one of my sisters, riskylady and I were enroute to the Bruno Mars concert at the ACC, we heard the name Adam Lambert on the radio 98.1FM. My sister turned it up and there was a female and male host and she said someone in the studio had been to the previous Queen and Adam Lambert concert a couple weeks ago and he was going to tell them about it. As far as I can remember, he said Adam came in dressed in all leather and sunglasses, wore it well and said he looked like a real rock star. He said Brian May had long white hair now instead of black, that he was so casual wearing sweatpants and that the dudes can still rock it out, that Adam was amazing vocally and fit right in, that he had such a great time. That there were several tributes to Freddie and talked about how they did the Borhap song and that nobody can replace Freddie but Adam was pretty close. He highly recommends the show. The female host was squealing a bit and said she wanted to go tomorrow.
We met up with Mils, Nekkid and northernspirit for the Bruno concert. The opener was supposed to have been Pharrell but he mysteriously dropped out earlier last week and the replacement opening act was a duo from Norway called Nico and Vinz. Didn’t know their music except Mils and my sister said one of their songs is on the radio. However, we didn’t miss Pharrell one bit because they were excellent. Very entertaining, great music, different sounds and good dancers. Bruno was very very good. No complaints there. He was singing live and he danced a lot. He has a great band and they dance as well and it was a fun show. It was louder than Queenbert though. Am still half deaf from some type of explosive sound at the beginning that scared me. I jumped back into nekkid and nearly hit her down. Kiss Sorry again nekkid. Lots of lasers, fire, multicolored confetti at the end. Was wondering if the Queenbert stuff was already in place and were just borrowed. Smile Bruno sold out back to back arena shows there. Queenbert’s last show tonight is not sold out. More than a few hundred seats left, but many of them are single seats which is not a good thing. Most people never go alone. I think Bruno taking up the whole weekend and then this being a Monday work night it might not get sold out Cross fingers. Will check in later on. Grin

  21. rs says:

Have a great time tonight cher! Hugs to all my peeps in Toronto. Hug Left Hug Right Blowing Kisses Wish I was there with you. Send Adam and the boys some extra love for me from across the sea Heart Heart Heart Heart

  22. TLKC says:

Damn! Adam went to Woody’s on Church Street. Why didn’t we think of that, especially Sunday night, when it would be semi-quiet? Damn! Ron – how did we not think of that? That place was hopping in early 2010’s when he would have been living here. Damn!

Don’t know how to post a pic so here’s the link to adamtopia. Scroll down: http://adamtopia.com/thread/2467/adam-news-info-tonight-finale

  23. TLKC says:

I am a bit surprised that Adam posted that video, apart from the fact that he is probably influenced a great deal by Neil’s approach to and view of the world. There is a truth to it that can only be appreciated at arm’s length (very much a First World luxury.) The reality, for those who are close and experiencing it, is genuinely harsh and horrible.

IMHO 80-90% of the human race just wants to get up in the morning and go to work and have a nice day, whatever part of the world they live it. The other 20% hold the rest of us hostage. The 80% caught in the crossfire of any world conflict cannot watch a video like this and feel anything but despair at it’s grade six level flippancy.

The intention of the creator was obviously to express the futility of the conflict but the conflict calls for a hell of a lot more than that. Whether is the Middle East, eastern Ukraine, Northern Ireland or the Congo.

Knowing Adam, his posting of this reflects more of a “not thinking” type of thinking, which we are all guilty of from time to time. I am sorry that he posted it, though.

  24. TLKC says:

Those of us who didn’t see Bruno last night took a little trot over to The Ritz, where we saw three tour-style buses in silver and black standing out front. The first one was departing just as we got there and it did turn south toward the ACC. A couple who (unlike us Grin ) were stalking, advised that the departing bus had a whole lot of techie-styleg people in it – crew and sound, etc.

We sat in the lobby for a while, waiting for the other two buses to board a boatload of VIP’s, but it never happened, so we left.

At one point a Ritz staffer with a security wire coiling out of her ear asked us if we would like a drink of water. I said as nicely as possible “Thank-you very much but we are fine. Can you tell us if that (very obviously closed) bar over there will be opening soon?” That put her off her game. She volunteered that there was a bar at the back of the hotel and retreated.

Eventually glambotgram offered up that techie people would not likely be boarded at The Ritz and we had to recognize the wisdom of that, so we gave up the game.

The buses were probably for VIP’s but we will never know.

TLKC, you didn’t look very hard, lol. I posted MJ’s review, along with a quote just a few posts back on this page Big Smile. That is OK, it was so good, and unusual for her to rave so, it merits a reposting!

  29. TLKC says:

Sorry, rs. I got so into your other post on this page that I missed it. Blush

Ditto what Cher said about the Bruno concert last night. He has a high energy show, and the crowd is just so totally into it. Love his band, dancing along with him. He played a lot of his hits, and some covers, too.

I’m still a bit pissed about the loud bang sound they were doing (I think it’s compressed air because I felt a waft of air when it happened). That shouldn’t be allowed. People could lose their hearing with sudden loud noises like that. So glad I had hearing protection in. I was actually thinking I should have used the gold filters for maximum protection. Had I known the noise level would be that high, I would have.

Had great seats, but not as good as cher’s Smile. Glad I went. Caught up with riskylady, mils, nod, there, too

DEF LEPPARD’s JOE ELLIOTT Talks VIVIAN CAMPBELL’s Health, QUEEN’s Tour With ADAM LAMBERT (Audio)

On QUEEN’s decision to tour, with “American Idol” finalist Adam Lambert once again fronting the band:

Joe: “Well, I actually think that, in fairness, it’s probably a more realistic lineup than the one with Paul Rodgers, because QUEEN was very flamboyant when they had Freddie Mercury — very, very flamboyant — and Adam Lambert is very, very flamboyant. Paul Rodgers was… not that he wasn’t flamboyant, but he’s a lot more testosterone driven than either Fred or Adam Lambert are. So … I would imagine that it probably sounds closer to what QUEEN with Fred sounded, because of the way that Adam Lambert sings.”

I was just coming to post aleksandrakv’s tumbler, but ulti beat me to it (probably becaust I took the time to read the whole thing before coming here, lol).As usual, she/he is spot on. I loved this quote:

if there was such a thing as music Olympics, this is how the most challenging task would sound like: you have to front an iconic band, with the most diverse opus ever. Learn all the songs in and out. Be yourself, but remain respectful. Bring originality to the table (while constantly being very ‘originally’ compared to Freddie by the very same people expecting it from you). Face throngs of very passionate and slightly disgruntled Queen fans. Convince them of your worthiness. Pay attention to every single note, every lyric and every move, for each and every one of them will be subjected to endless analysis and discussions. Shine on your own, but do not steal the show. Do not seem intimidated, but don’t get too cocky – know your place. Rock it, don’t karaoke it. Give it your best at every show, you never know who’s in the audience. Pace yourself, but don’t underperform! Walk the line, but don’t fall. Gamble, but don’t lose. Front, but don’t boss. Feels like too much? Now do it for two hours, thirty-four times almost in a row.
