‘The Star Spangled Banner’ Broadway Bares midnight show 6/23/13 – Video by Sam Bernero
Following a busy June with appearances at Pittsburgh Pride, all sorts of New York events and at Universal Orlando, Adam is back in California for a few open air concerts. The first one is in his childhood home of San Diego on July 2nd and then it’s on to Paso Robles on July 19th. Let’s hope that between concerts (and after) that Adam gets into the studio to work on new music.
For this month’s banner, I listened to luval‘s advice and posted a video – an impressive “Star Spangled Banner” that Adam sung before a very appreciate Broadway crowd. It’s perfect for the July 4th holiday but it’s just as amazing to listen to any time of year!

Somebody reads about the Aviici track and decides to check out Adam,somebody sees a pic of him in those boots with Fergie, Gleeks check him out and beg their mommies for money for downloads, one by one, they fall into the voice…and never return…resistance is futile…
Rumor today is that he will be the new Vocal Adrenaline coach. I can see that, BUT, I would so very much rather him be in New York with Curt and Lea.
Unless the Nationals are in New York, and then there could be some interaction and awesome vocals.
Or, he could be the new guidance counselor at school, since Jayma Mays announced she is leaving Glee.

Love love Lay Me Down, especially the one at the end of the shorter video. When he goes into the chorus “Lay me down in darkness,” a cheer goes up from the crowd. Seductive lyrics, and his voice sounds wonderful and instantly recognizable. And doesn’t everybody want to lay him down? So appropriate lol.

I totally agree with you. Lay Me Down is an excellent tune. Effing loved it the minute I heard it (even tho the sound was poor). It sounds very Donna Summer-y to me. I think it will be a really big hit with the younger EDM crowd. So exciting to think about what Adam’s future will be.

It’s like her but brought into 21st century. And, isn’t Nile amazing that he gets and fits into this modernized disco? I love him for thinking of Adam and bringing him in.

RE: the LV bag – Adam has connections with LVMH and they are no doubt delighted with that pic. The more it shows up, the happier they will be. Very good for Adam.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he or his management engineered that placement.
tlkc, I thought it was also interesting that Adam tweeted the labels he was wearing. In the past he has told who made his boots, for example, but not a head-to-toe rundown like that. Wonder if he is reaching that point of celebrity-hood where labels want to be seen on him and are willing to provide merch for him to wear?

I have been trying to listen to Lay Me Down, by I don’t even know how you are all getting a sense of the song, the recordings are all so muddy. I guess I will have to wait for the official version.

I feel the same about Lay Me Down. The recordings is muddy and I wanna hear the real thing. Ulti is right, though, online buzz for something like this is terrific. Aviici is a great way for Adam to reach a whole new audience.

Ulti, that’s the best one I’ve heard so far. Still can’t understand lyrics perfectly, but enough, plus it’s the whole song.
Adam’s voice is so good with disco/funk – I remember how Hot Stuff just galvanized the Helsinki audience, and his studio recording of Play that Funky Music is amazing. Love the rock, but this is great, AND it’s a nice song with good hooks.

I just love Lay Me Down. The collaboration between Avicii, Nile and Adam is great on so many levels. Adam and Nile have such amazing chemistry together, both personally and in the recording studio. I was one of the four lucky ones from ALL who saw them together live at the We Are Family Foundation concert in NYC. There was a real love fest going on between the two of them. I hope Lay Me Down is released as a single, is a major hit, and brings Adam lots of new fans. Ulti, thanks for all the links and especially the last one at 10:35 AM. The sound was decent and the audience was full of young adults, who will hopefully be inspired to check out more of Adam’s music.

FYI – in the edmtunes article Ulti posted above, on the side it lists the top 10 live shows. Avicii’s 1 1/2 hour set ar the Tomorrowland festival on 7/27 is listed, and if you click on that you can hear the entire live broadcast with pristine sound. I sort of went through it, but no Lay Me Down. He closed with his hit Wake Me Up. Has an Ibiza gig coming up too, but I’m thinking we may not hear much now because of all the buzz, hope I’m wrong.

Interesting news item in the paper today – a local radio station is being bought by a company with the express purpose of having an outlet for artists who don’t get played on the other stations. Alternative, indie, whatever. Hoping it’s successful, the format (was a sports station) will change in the next few days, all fingers crossed that I will have a local radio station to listen to!

Idol’s a dying brand – reached a saturation point with these shows. Wanted Adam on last year, but glad he wasn’t with all that sheeeet. Would I want him on this year? Good to have his face and personality there every week (like that a lot) and the possibility of viewers looking into his TR album. But that era is over – looking now to the new and that would be collabs like Avicii.

Especially now with the Avicii link – very cool, very current – at this point a gig on Idol – no longer cool, no longer current – would be a step backward.
And if he is going to be on Glee, too much TV could distract peeps from his music, would hate for him to become more identified as a TV personality than a musician.

Since the will.i.am TV poll was posted, it’s pretty clear that he is in, too. Keith’s been sitting there in limbo for a long time so it was pretty much a given.
This is the panel I was hoping for because Adam makes a much better fit with them than J-Hud but the article says only 3 judges.

Adam’s career will get a much bigger boost from his role on Glee than from being a judge on Idol. He needs to have people see him sing and perform. He should have ample opportunity for that on Glee, and his songs on Glee will be sold on I-tunes each week. When he’s not performing on Glee, he can be recording new music, working on collaborations, and touring. All much more useful occupations than being a judge on that sinking ship known as Idol. On the other hand, if he’s offered the job as a judge, and that’s what he wants, I’ll be happy for him and will have to start watching Idol again (as painful as it is) just to see him.
Those new Glee characters – not Adam, I hope.
