Exciting times are upon us as July begins! Adam has just completed an outstanding first full length concert with Queen at a charity event in Kiev, Ukraine (as captured in the photo above). Five more Queen + Adam Lambert concerts are lined up for Moscow, Wroclaw (Poland) and London during the next couple of weeks. Adam will then return to the United States to play a series of solo concerts during the second half of the month, including gigs in Costa Mesa, Sacramento, Des Moines, Thackerville (Oklahoma), and a much anticipated return to the site of one of his first and most memorable concerts at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. All told, Adam will perform in 10 live concerts this month, which will make this his busiest month for live performances since November 2010 when he was in the European portion of the Glam Nation Tour. Adam has ruined me for a lot of old songs. I was listening to an oldies station while working around the house and several songs came on that Adam has covered. In particular, they played Another One Bites the Dust, and then We are the Champions, and decided that I was NOT a Queen purist–I much preferred the performances with Adam over Freddie. (that statement alone could get me in trouble on other blogs!)
Anyway, the KISS song that Adam performed with them came on. I kept waiting for the lines where Adam got to wail. Yes, he much improved the KISS version.
There were some others that he covered on AI that just didn’t sound right without him. What is it about his voice?

Good question, Ellessay – what is it about his voice? It’s beautiful in itself, of course – but there other beautiful voices – in Adam’s there is a resonant seductiveness that is immediately identifiable. One wants not only to hear his music again, but the voice even more – singing anything – as long as it’s his voice.

Al Thanks for the toast. I must say you make very good toast, the best I’ve seen. I use Google alot but would never have thought of using to find a picture of toast. You are amazing but I already knew that because of the puzzles. Think I better start getting ready for the trip to Des Moines. I’m trying not to let the excitement get to me but the idea that I’ll be seeing Adam and some of my favorite Adam fans,is too much. Glambotgram I love that picture. It looks like Sauli’s hair is still the same style. He’s just too cute. I can see why Adam and Sauli both said it was an instant attraction they are both gorgeous.

This was on im4adam4life – station video during 2009 tour – at the end they mention ticket prices – $2,200 and $90 for cheapest. Haven’t checked new tour’s prices, but can’t imagine they’re approaching these.

So excited for ceddies and nkd, our blanket peeps from Ste Agathe who are at the concert tonite!
I was at the airport yesterday and someone I was with said “hey, look, there is Joan Rivers!”.
And so it was. She was shopping at the “Everything $10” kiosk at the bling-y earrings…she was all alone…until someone went up to her and started talking to her…then suddenly a big bodyguard appeared from nowhere and stayed at a little distance. It took about 10 minutes before anyone else noticed her, and then about a dozen peeps gathered. She could not have been sweeter, talking to fans and taking pictures with everyone who asked. She spoke with one woman who was having trouble with her daughter, in a semi-joking but semi-serious way. I was so impressed.
The point of that post is that it made me think of Adam and his interactions with fans. Another class act.
Joan seemed totally comfortable with everyone, relaxed, but in charge and when it was time for her to leave for her plane, she detached herself so gracefully and walked away with her (grandson?) and a couple of other peeps who magically appeared.
I didn’t talk to her – other peeps had a LOT to say and I haven’t seen her perform for years and years – but I would have told her that she is part of why I became a lawyer. She was one of my first role models as a strong and capable woman in a man’s profession.
Like Adam being a role model for peeps in a different context.
So…Joan Rivers and Adam Lambert. More comparisons than one would think!
While waiting for Adam, looking at the number of comments at MJs – slow attrition – not surprised – the threads are so boring – more pics of Carrie – at Disneyland no less – what a yawn. She’s gonna miss the Glambert and his fans who are, no doubt, leaving for greener pastures. And it was AI that created the excitement for so many years – and that’s fading away, too. Well, it was fun while it lasted. Here’s to the inimitable, incomparable Season 8!

He broke Idol, MJs has been broken because of his haters, as well as other sites who have also been eaten by Adam haters. He broke the glass wall for gays in pop music. He broke charity records. His fans have broken any number of websites lol…and Adam just rises above it all.

Incomprehensible to me why a show that is suffering in ratings due to safe/boring WGWG winners and vanilla inoffensive judges now apparently wants to move even further in that direction. Mariah, Randy and some country dude are not likely to bring the desired younger viewers flocking back.

Personally, I feel their main mission is to compete with X Factor and The Voice. The Voice has Blake Shelton, so Idol thinks they need to show that they are supporting the country genre as well. They almost seem obsessive about it to the point where it seems they will take any big name country artist who is available. I really, really hate to say this, but I get the feeling that Adam is being put on a way back burner that if all else fails….

Have often wondered what demographic Idol voters mainly fall into. Have read that the East and West Coasts don’t do much voting – that it’s mainly southern/midwestern. Wouldn’t a lot of that demographic be into “country music”? Perhaps Idol is interested in tapping into that – with a “big hat” as a judge. With a slightly outdated diva, Randy, and, say, Brad – who else would they be aiming for?
I so agree oksana, the last 3 seasons of Idol have been just so…ordinary. There has been nothing and no one who’s really made me sit up and take notice, just so bland. The only one I’ve remotely liked was Hayley Reinhart, but I haven’t brought her cd yet. They’ve all been so lacklustre, none have the star power that Adam has, and that he already had on Idol. But even the other people on his season, I can remember all their names, I can only probably remember about 6 from the last 3 years!!! I’m really not feeling any excitement about the upcoming season…….now if Adam is on there, I’d definitely tune in…
And the judges do make a difference to whether people tune in, I am so over Randy and his tired old cliches, Mariah – have never listened to her music or watched any interviews, so at the moment she isn’t someone that I’m thinking, wow I must tune in to see her, and again some country guy I’ve never heard of, it seems the last 2 years Idol seems to be going more and more country. And even with Jimmy Iovine, or maybe its the contestants they choose, but noone seems to be able to think for themselves anymore, choose their own song, rearrange it to suit themselves, Jimmy seems to have too much say, it sucks away what personalities they do have.
I love the dancing on SYTYCD but I really don’t like Nigel and that Mary woman just annoys me so much that I just can’t watch her. If I do watch I have to mute it when they’re on. So because of the judges I don’t watch.
My favourite judging panel is on Got To Dance UK. Kimberley Wyatt, Adam Garcia and Ashley Banjo. They are all great, honest but kind with great rapport and good personalities.
Just popping in before I call it a day. Driving 10 hours to get to Des Moines was sooooo worth it. The day ended with a dinner organized by the charming & funny milws. She came prepared with one of her famous lists!! Also there was jojosie, Goatiegarden, Adamaddict, Suz526, jlurksacto, tchrsd, &ovationimpact. If you ever get to be in the company of these fans I can guarantee you will never forget the experience. Much laughter and sharing stories about our Adam experiences. Thank you all so much for making this trip extra special. Now on to the show tomorrow.
I have been an Idol fan from day one but the path in which the judge choosing is headed is just wrong IMO. Mariah, Randy and a country singer? NO. I agree with your whole post, HK fan. Except for the part about the judges on Got To Dance. Not familiar with them. And I don’t think people turn in for just the contestants. At least I don’t. I Love listening to the judges. Yup, Adam is probably out.
