Suz526 you must have bought your ticket soon after they went on sale! I guess I just happened to buy exactly at the right moment to get ticket #1000. I’m a bit disappointed that more haven’t sold, although there will be some additional number of passport holders there as well.

Adam wants to be successful, but he’s also daring – even more so now, I believe, that he knows he has a dedicated fan base (“I’ll never lack for work.”) Channeling Kara – I just wait each week to see what he comes up with next.

Those Hula’s pix and videos leave me wondering if we should have gone when we were in Hawaii. Goatie, Jojosie, PPofP and myself all decided against it. We went back to our hotel and had Mai Tais at the bar on the ocean. There was karaoke, and a lot of laughs, no Sasha and Terrance though!! Just strong Mai Tais and ocean breezes.
I still cannot believe we went to Hawaii! I wonder what/where the next tour will lead?

Wow, what do all the clues mean from an earlier post, rumors, rumors, Glee? SNL? A video? A movie? True Blood? What??? Gah. Must.Have.Details.
I watched the AMA rehearsal vid carefully for the first time today. Ouch. What troubled me the most was Adam’s expression – by the end, there was a grim resolve – see at about 3:00 especially. He realized what a hot mess it was, but he’s a trouper and dogged on. The wail at the end was forced in ways I have never seen or heard him force it.
I have always sort of wondered at Tommy’s comment that he told Adam that he could do anything he wanted with him during the performance. Huh? What was the catalyst for that? People don’t just randomly say such things. But having seen the rehearsal, it seems totally likely to me that Adam addressed this with his band and asked for suggestions to make it work. And then, Tommy’s offer makes sense.
Adam has always said, also, that the changes he made from the rehearsal were because he was “in the moment” or the adrenaline was flowing…that didn’t make any sense to me, either. He is consummately professional, he would not have made random and unexpected changes to a settled rehearsal unless he had a good reason – like, it had been a bad rehearsal. There may well have been adrenaline, but I think it was the adrenaline of desperation, and not the adrenaline of simply being on stage, no matter how big that stage and that audience.
So part of me is glad to have that vid – it resolves some things for me (although I am not necessarily correct) – but it is painful to watch. I’m glad it didn’t surface earlier. In the context of the successful glamnation, the sting of the AMA debacle has much less sting.
Adam + Eminem = very tough struggle for this fangirl. I would have to step away for a while.
Eminem’s ode to domestic violence that was all over the radio for a while resulted in a silent car for quite a few weeks at my house. It also made it impossible for me to buy the grammy CD.
I will grudgingly acknowledge that Eminem is talented.
But Adam and Eminem? I hope it ain’t so.

Happily, you already know about 15,000 French words, you just don’t know they are French. For example, every word that ends in -tion is French: nation, salvation, etc.
My first name is French, but that doesn’t help me any!
What bothered me most about the AMA’s was what was going through Adam’s mind in the weeks afterward. He’s spoken to that once that I remember, and he said it was not a good time – thinking that he had completely messed up his career (paraphrasing, of course). I wish this rehearsal vid had never surfaced. Would like to stick a stake through its heart and bury it forever.

Regarding Adam and Eminem, which we are speculating wildly on this one, I’m not a fan of Eminem either. But knowing Adam and his distaste for violence, unless of course paps are on the beach, he would not collaborate in a song glorifying violence. We must keep our faith in his judgement. A collab with Eminem would up his coolness factor in the mainstream.

I think that Glam Nation was the stake, ultimathule.
Will the AMA performance have a few death throes? Sure. There are still people who remember it and know nothing else of Adam, and don’t want to know more. Doubtless he lost some fans and potential fans forever.
Better to learn at the outset, the hard way, what the boundaries are, than to crash and burn later. Adam has said that he never regrets, he moves on, but he learns. It has already been two years, and with every year and performance that passes, the AMAs become more irrelevant.
I am definitely not on the Eminem collab bandwagon. I hope that it is not in the cards. I can’t see any connection, but Adam has been working with a lot of people, so who knows where a meeting or such may have occurred.

The word used in the tweet of wild speculation was “homothug”, not “homophobethug”. Is there a gay rapper out there? If we don’t know, I’ll ask my son tomorrow, he knows most things rap.
Thanks, Kradamour. I’m sure Adam has gone on. Like he said on Bush/Access interview – water under the bridge. But I don’t feel the reverberations from the AMA’s will ever completely go away – they’re part of his mystique now for good or ill.
ITA. And they are a reminder and perhaps a symbol of Adam’s complex nature and inner strength. For me, that makes them good. (As long as they aren’t front and center any longer!)

I know a lot of fans (or supposed fans) were turned off by the AMA’s, and many feel it damaged his cd sales, career etc. But there were positives too, that performance gained him many overseas fans, who do not watch Idol and didn’t know him. But the many headlines of how outrageous he was made worldwide news etc, and caused many people to look him up, google other songs by him and become fans. Most other places could not understand the fuss that was made over the performance. I have seen it time and again on sites from fans that became fans after the AMA’s.
Also re ‘homothug’ rapper (please, not Eminem!), I thought all those tweets from thats person and been found to be false?

As far as rappers and Adam are concerned, I think it would have to be someone who has had a melodic tone in some of their music. Eminem has, Kanye (ugh) has, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland (for producing)..as I’ve said any of Rhianna’s producers or writers. I’m pretty sure Adam wouldn’t “rap” but could speak a line depending on the song. Like when he says “JUMP!” in IIHY. Of course I’m kidding on that but it should be interesting if any of this is true.
Adam can talk so fast he’d probably be a great rapper. Lordy, wouldn’t I just love to hear that. His fans would go nuts – know I would – lol.
Do you all remember this? I send it even now to people that are “meh” about him. It shows the variety of ages, sexes, sizes, shapes, etc. of his audience. “The Elvis of this decade”. And I love the haggard look of the interviewer after the show!

Also, regarding Emenem – I can’t stand the guy and the only reason that I could see him collaborating with Adam would be if he was trying to rehabilitate his homophobic image – I just can’t see that happening. But, you know, stranger things can happen, and Adam might be of the mindset that together, they could send out a powerful message to young people about overcoming differences and celebrating the commonalities that we all share. Those two working together could really arouse a lot of dialogue – wow, that’s an understatement, huh?

Those peeps who were interviewed pretty much said it all. Yes, Adam is unique, and there is nobody out there who is even close to being compared to him. I feel that is a real plus for Adam because so many other artists out there often sound like, look like, and/or perform like someone else. I, personally, can name quite a few.
