2013 will apparently begin with a rather quiet month for Adam, as he has only one performance currently scheduled. This will be a Hennessy Artistry event in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on January 4. After that, Adam’s next scheduled event is the kickoff of his international “non-tour” in Seoul, South Korea on February 17. There is no official word as yet on whether some North American dates will eventually be added to the non-tour in the spring, but recent comments from Adam have not been very optimistic.

Above we see Adam performing at his final concert of 2012, at the Mulia Resort in Bali, Indonesia. Happy New Year and enjoy the chat!

And how kind of you, Ron to treat us to Alfie Boe in the kitchen (we got to see him in
Thetford Forest north of London en route to Scotland on July 13, 2012…that’s why we missed the 3rd Queenbert in London since we had tix to see Alfie.)

Oh! I didn’t know this. I was under the impression that you and the Duke were so ill at the time that you missed both concerts! So glad you got to see Boe!!

I’m so glad too that you enjoyed the Alfie “kitchen clip”. There he was just standing there with his hands in his pockets, so casual, and sounding so effortlessly magnificent!

Alfred Giovanni Roncalli Boe. I guess he must be Italian or something. Laugh

Did you know that his career began while he was making his living polishing cars?! He loved to sing and would sing arias while tending to clients cars. The right client at the right time happened to want his car polished when he heard Alfie singing. He handed Alfie his business card and that’s how it all began.

We imagine Adam being so right and so perfect for this and that and the other thing. I would guess Boe’s devotees thought he was a shoo-in for Jean Valjean in the movie version of “Les Miserables” and were certainly disappointed if not outraged that he didn’t get the part. He played the role in London’s West End to great acclaim (by all accounts, standing ovations every night after he sang “Bring Him Home”), did concert versions, voice is incredible, looks the part but … he probably wasn’t even considered.

The best man doesn’t always win, unfortunately. I’m, of course, thinking of Adam and, of course, hoping for the very best.

Wow, mils – that’s incredible. Just a critter or two in the attic doesn’t seem so bad now. Do have deer – saw seventeen stroll along the top backyard not too long ago. Maryland has lots of Lyme disease – think from deer ticks.

Just popping in to mention that I am watching the movie Pitch Perfect and one of the male characters held up the LP cover (vinyl) of FYE to attract the attention of the main female character. Did we know this? Of course, the main female character is Anna Kendrick, one of Adam’s buds…

Great interview from China. I love the part when he says I am certain that I will always be performing

aely – is that the interview that it was said it was unusual they would give time to Adam?

    Love that China interview.
Thanks aely for posting it. I saw it earlier floating around on twitter but lost it.

I’m loving these clips of Alfie Boe. I did not know anything about him before Ron posted the 4 Valjeans video a couple of days ago. I don’t go to a lot of musical theater, maybe I should start, although I probably won’t see Alfie unless I go to London.

  20. milwlovesadam says:

aely, thank you for that fantastic interview. So much hair, yummy. She did a great job with him. Nice questions and of course, great answers.

  21. Ceddies says:

Just watched the interview you posted, aely. It was the first time I had seen it. That’s the hair that I love!!!! Great interview. Thanks.

  22. ultimathule says:

Want that interview – love it – any way to dl it?
Link said copy URL – did that and it went onto my “clipboard” – whatever that is. Think I’ll go look for it – must be here somewhere.

LOL ultimat, as long as it isn’t in your attic you’re home free!

    G’nite peeps!!

  24. aely says:

In that interview she became a Glambert….love it.

Since some of you enjoyed Chehon here are the highlights of his run and win. He was in the bottom 2 quite often but saved himself with his amazing solos.

If you watch, look how he leads with his chest as a male lead. His struggle was to loosen his core to do other dance styles but he did because he is trained and he can understand his body and movement more quickly than an untrained dancer (Johnny).

Have music devices all over the house, but today one of my wonderful sons-in-law came by and helped me install a setup of both old and new equipment. New Marantz CD player (have hundreds of CDs) with my approximately 20-year-old Denon receiver and – brought out of retirement – my huge Klipsch speakers. Whatta difference in the sound – so clear and beautiful – with those enormous things – can only turn the volume up to about 10 or 11 o’clock on the volume or they’ll blast you out of the room. Neighbors aren’t close thank gawd.

  28. ultimathule says:

Thanks, aely – sent to Twitter, as well. Bookmarked it fine, but can’t find clipboard on Windows XP where the URL went – apparently it’s hidden somewhere in the C Drive.

  29. turquoisewaters says:

Yes, it is supposed to be the first gay person the government allowed to be interviewed.

That is so wonderful. He was a great ambassador in this interview. Had to do some google research here: Gays were considered mentally ill in China until 2001. But things seem to be changing rather quickly there as well, with the younger generation much more likely to be out. Oh and the American Psychiatric Association did not declassify homosexuality as a mental illness until 1973. Frown

  30. Ron says:

One can be homosexual and mentally ill at the same time though
    turquoisewaters

For example … here I am. Laugh

I do think this; I do believe this …

Let’s say, 25 years from now, Adam will be the person that other gay artists will point to and thank for paving the way and allowing them to be themselves and say that it’s “okay” to be gay. That there’s nothing wrong with it.

By then, most people will wonder why society thought that there was anything wrong with it in the first place.

50 years from now, Adam will be looked upon as a pioneer and people will wonder why and shudder to think that gays and lesbians were ever treated any differently than anyone else.

I don’t think it’s likely that I’ll be here 50 years from now, let alone 25 years from now, but I’d love to see the day when this will be the real world, the ‘norm’ and just the way it is.

If I’m not going to be here 25 years from now, where am I going? More important, what should I wear when I go there?!

    Heaven’s above! Wink

Maybe I should start packing or at least start putting things aside for when the time comes. Big Smile

  31. LadyNorth says:

Ron I agree with you about Adam being a brave role model in the future. Not so many decades ago homosexuality was a crime. Then it was only mental illness. Then it was considered “bad” and spreading HIV. Then it was something that was not discussed. Then suddenly it spread on tv, so that every many tv series had to have their gay figures and there was reality tv-shows with gays. But there’s still things to do. In my opinion it’s not only about accepting gay, it’s about accepting different. Different way to dress, live, express yourself. People can be very cruel and not accepting towards everyone who doesn’t match the norm.

I loved the interview on Chinese TV. Here is the youtube version, if someone wants to download.

I loved that CCTV interview! Throughout the whole long interview no questions about being a Gay celebrity or coming out or any of the other annoying questions we usually get (just a cute mention of his boyfriend being a better cook). At first, I thought, how great, it isn’t news any more, then I realised that it is probably a banned subject for discussion on Chinese TV, or a wish not to get into controversial topics. Correct me if I am wrong.

Ah, well. That’s the way it is, for now.

    Time for bed.

    Good night.

  34. rs says:

For years I have had a dream of seeing Adam sing “Bring Him Home”. When I have suggested this I have been told that it is sung by a much older man….I know, I saw the play. So in 20 years when they do a remake of the movie or put on yet another stage production of Les Miz, thay will be clammoring to get Adam for the part. And he will carry on the tradition of breathtaking voices playing Jean Valjean…….but I don’t want to wait that long, just this one song…please Universe….make it happen.

So sorry to hear that Ron Frown I have many friends who have been bullied at school as kids, for who knows what reasons. It has taken years for them to recover from it. And I’ve noticed adults may do the same, usually it just different form. Live and let live!

rs, I don’t know but it just came to my mind that maybe in oriental cultures sexuality is a private matter, people are not asked about those kinds of things. Whatever sexuality they represent. Did I heard it right, did the lady who interviewed him said that she was from San Diego too? If it was like that, wonder does she live in China now…

  36. rs says:

LadyNorth , I wasn’t sure if she said that she was from San Diego of if he was just a guy from San Diego. Have to listen again

  37. HK fan says:

Thankyou so much for posting the youtube of the up close interview ladynorth, I hadn’t been able to see anything on the other links. wow, what a great interview, he’s just so personable and articulate, i could just listen to him talk for hours. And such great indepth questions, non of the normal shitty stuff they ask him, or stupid games they want him to play.
She definitely said she came from San Diego.
I’m not sure about mentioning sexuality….but certainly the HK Chinese are pretty blunt about other things, and would think nothing of coming up and saying to someone, wow, you look fat, or you look ugly todaySmile

    Good morning!
rs…I saw that clip once. I think it was during either Behind the Music or the ETrue Hollywood hour. It’s only 7 seconds. Bet a lot of people haven’t seen it. He’s sooooo enthused!

That CCTV interview was terrific!! I like it when he says he almost always remembers faces with the conversations he’s had. And the control thing at the end where he realizes he has to surrender sometimes. And that long and fluffy hair…so cute. He’ll be visiting Abreea soon. Thanks for the youtube version, Lady North. The other one kept buffering.

I can’t get on Home Planet either. Hmmmm….closed down? or just down for repair/refurbushing?

Again a great interview, turquoise! I see the McEwen brothers from a different angle. They were soooooo thrilled.

I still don’t think Adam gets why us 29yr olds like him. I don’t think of him as my son. LOL. In the book On the Meaning of Adam Lambert by Juneau & Xena, the first few pages talk about what he means to many including myself. It is so hard to describe. Someone really has to have a heart to heart talk with him about this!!

  42. luval says:

I just want to comment about Phillip Phillps. Over at mj’s there are a couple of threads about his album going gold, he’s on the cover of Billboard, his song Home selling multi-platinum. Well I don’t like the guy. He hated being on AI (people say it was because he was ill it just looked that way), but I watched the season and he stated several times in so many words he didn’t want to audition & didn’t want to be there. Even now he never mentions AI in interviews. So ungrateful to me.

Unlike Adam who thanks and thanks and thanks AI because he would never be where he is except for that platform. I think once he said he might have had some success but it would have taken longer and been much harder.

I might be exaggerating a bit about PP but am really sick of him.

  43. aely says:

If you all can see the official link video please use that link and not the you tube link. Glam_alidol tweeted to please use the official link that is watched by the government. Shows his popularity I guess.

  44. luval says:

aely…I tried to watch the Chinese link but it kept buffering. Stopped at MW…I went out for a run, came back and it still was buffering. Maybe because of the time difference there are many many people on that link. Will try again later.

Anyone know how much of a video you have to watch to give credit to the video provider (youtube, etc)? The whole thing, three quarters? Always wanted to know this.

  45. HK fan says:

aely, I can’t seem to watch the official video…just get a big black box where the video is supposed to be.

luval. I really haven;t been following PP that much, sometimes read some of the comments though, and saw in his latest interview that he said he wouldn’t be watching the new season of Idol. Definitely seems to want to distance himself from it. And I must admit to be a bit jealous of his success and numbers, considering he is such a mediocre singer.

According to YouTube’s FAQ on May 23, 2012:

A view is counted whenever someone watches a video on YouTube. We do not get more specific than this to avoid attempts at artificially inflating view counts.

I would assume they don’t count views as soon as you load the video, since that would make it too easy to artificially inflate view counts. Further than that, it’s difficult to say.

  49. rs says:

Loved that Trespassing vid. The first time I saw this on the live stream I was sure that he said “my ass” and not “my yeah” at the very end of the song, just before he threw down the mic. After watching this vid, I am sure of it. It was the end of his show (except for the duet), what are they going to do to him. I am sure that he didn’t just get carried away and forget, but was making a little rebellion here. What do you all think?
