2013 will apparently begin with a rather quiet month for Adam, as he has only one performance currently scheduled. This will be a Hennessy Artistry event in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on January 4. After that, Adam’s next scheduled event is the kickoff of his international “non-tour” in Seoul, South Korea on February 17. There is no official word as yet on whether some North American dates will eventually be added to the non-tour in the spring, but recent comments from Adam have not been very optimistic.

Above we see Adam performing at his final concert of 2012, at the Mulia Resort in Bali, Indonesia. Happy New Year and enjoy the chat!

Celebrity Big Brother – do you know what type of program, nkd?

  2. milwlovesadam says:

Adamized, thank you so much for the good wishes!

Ron and AL, we were all looking at the same videos last night of Les Miz. I also am moved by that kind of superb singing. I listened to certain songs sung very very well over and over and let the feelings wash over me. I call it my music therapy.

Maybe this is why I am so moved by certain of Adam’s songs. Soaked. Mad World. Underneath. Feeling Good. Outlaws of love. Broken Open ( live, not recorded ).

On another note, I would love to hear what Adam really said about being naked in his house.

Hmmm. How does one go about becoming a peeping Tom? Do you need a special license or certification?

Oh wait. Dangit all. They moved into a new high rise deluxe apartment in the sky. Shoot. Imma gonna need me a ladder…

On another whole note, didn’t Christopher Isherwood write the story that Cabaret was based on? I know, a different C. Isherwood, brb.

Since Roger Taylor’s lovely letter to Queen fans (“dark Elvis”), Brian May tweeted this lovely song by Roger, sung by Roger with his band The Cross. It’s sooooo soothing, a beautiful song. I also listened to the Freddie/Queen version, but like Roger’s better, and love his voice. His songs just have a special vibe to them (Radio Gaga, A Kind of Magic, These Are the Days of Our Lives, and an older unavailable song that was the basis for Under Pressure). It’s very good for our troubled state of mind – try and you’ll agree!

ETA: That IS Roger, singing and playing the guitar. Apparently, he is a good guitarist.

  4. milwlovesadam says:

Yes. A different Christopher Isherwood. The author died in 1986. Wonder if they are related….

  5. riskylady says:

Well, Rolling Stone has somewhat vindicated themselves. Pretty nice article, good pic, and very surprised at the comments!

  9. milwlovesadam says:

Well. Oh Well. I see that Adam LEVINE is hosting SNL.

Lulz. Probably got confused with which Adam they got the most tweets for. Again.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if they had our guy pop in for a skit?

Wondering what our guy is going to be doing this next month and a half?

We have so much speculating to do.

  10. milwlovesadam says:

I brought this over, the author totally agrees with Adam.

    Hi mils!

TLKC and I were talking about this today!

If it could be right now, this weekend, we thought it would be funny to have Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe sitting on a couch talking about “Les Miserables” and in walks Adam. “Hey guys!! Did you read my tweets about your movie? I thought you both did a GREAT job!! Mr. Crowe, your voice is … something else. Really, just out of this world. Other worldly. Like something from the planet Romulak, you know what I mean?”

Or maybe we “shouldn’t be fanning the flames”. Laugh

  12. milwlovesadam says:

Twitter gate was on Access Hollywood today. No bad comments, just stupid hosts who don’t like musicals, but, they had nothing bad to say about Adam.

  13. milwlovesadam says:

Ron, have you seen the movie yet?

  14. Ron says:

Ron, have you seen the movie yet?

No, I haven’t. I’ve never gone to see a movie on Christmas Day but, for the first time, I was seriously considering going to see “Les Miserables” being such a fan of the music.

I’m glad I didnt’ go. TLKC saw it and was disappointed. I very much respect her judgement and opinions.

There was no question that I’d buy the blu-ray release but that’s not so much a sure thing anymore.

Now I’m looking at watching it on cable TV. Big Smile

  15. milwlovesadam says:

Well, I’ll politely disagree with TLKC., if that’s OK. I think it’s worth seeing. It is bold and grand and the staging, costumes and the majority of the film are quite excellent. And I agree with Adam, it’s worth seeing just for Anne Hathaway. I saw it after twitter-gate started, and after I had heard from several friends and family that Russell Crowe’s voice was not exactly stellar, however, I still got caught up in the emotion of it.

It’s up to you. I do think that seeing it on a small screen will take away the grandeur of it. IMHO.

  16. Calgary says:

Okay, like Adam I love a good debate, and a roaring fire too, so here I go fanning the flames! If you haven’t read Anthony Lane’s review in the New Yotker, you must, it’s short, succinct, and hilarious. Here’s another, much longer and more in-depth revidew from David Denby, and it makes Adam’s comments look like fulsome praise!
    http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/culture/2013/01/theres-still-hope-for-people-who-love-les-miserables.html
BTW – I haven’t seen the movie yet, just the trailers, and I LOVED the original British stage version. (on reflection what I really loved was the voices.)

  17. ultimathule says:

I’ve already outed myself re Les Miz – just not for me.

Some of the articles (Slate) talk about dubbing. One of the best jobs I’ve ever seen is “The Student Prince” – Mario Lanza (loved his voice like I love Adam’s) singing (he was fired from the pic) and Edmund Purdom (the gorgeous) doing the acting. (Scene on the train – the Prince leaving his youth behind – “Golden Days” – beyond beautiful.)

  18. Ron says:

There were many things that TLKC liked about the movie but, if I remember correctly, it was mainly Russell Crowe’s performance that she didn’t care for and that spoiled things for her.

  19. HK fan says:

rs, the ticket is GA, its all standing this time although in the same venue. Don’t know what difference that makes to the overall capacity. But there are 2 sections, A and B. I got A.

ladynorth, wheres the translation of the naked interview where he talks about Sauli?

  20. milwlovesadam says:

Here’s the Anthony Lane New Yorker review.

    http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critics/cinema/2013/01/07/130107crci_cinema_lane

Guess I better stop reviewing movies too. He was not a fan of Django either. Alas.

  21. milwlovesadam says:

“She ” cracks me up over there. She made a thread for the Vietnam interviews. The Les Miz thread turned into a discussion of new tour and GNT. People just want to talk about Adam. Doesn’t she realize that? Oh. Maybe she does, she creates threads in a willy-nilly manner.

  22. milwlovesadam says:

I’m just curious, does anybody here have a total count of the number of shows, radio shows, gigs in general that Adam had in 2012?? How many magazine covers? How many interviews, TV appearances? Any idea of how people he performed for in 2012?

I’m thinking the numbers are huge. More than we realize. It seems like he hardly had a single day off in reality. Every time we thought he was taking a break, more stuff would pop up.

He is getting tons of press out of all this…

ulti. If you can open this it is the same as the other articles.

  24. ultimathule says:

aely – thanks – I did finally open – strangely enough – the Canadian one. Think I opened one of the others, too.

Lovin’ how these reviews basically validate what Adam said.

  25. ultimathule says:

Yeah – that thread, mils is a hoot. I bailed out at 3:00 a.m. – took a look this p.m., but haven’t posted – the Glamberts over there are doing a great job – have the facts – I’m just along for the ride.

  26. ultimathule says:

I’d rather see Django, mils, than Miz – that rococo performance from DeCaprio (Candie – lol) (and “Broomhilda” – whazzis – Wagner?) sounds like a hoot, too. Lots of nasty stuff, though – so maybe I’ll give it a pass.

  27. Kradamour says:

    Les Misérables
I’ve read it in French. Twice.
    All billion pages of it.
I have the French original cast album.
I saw the American version at the Kennedy Center.
To appreciate the overwrought plot, you have to remember that Hugo was a leader of the Romantic period in literature, and passionately involved in the politics of his day.
The barricade scene is long in the play, but in the book it is interminable. Hugo is making a political point with the novel, the whole reason he wrote it.
    So.
I guess I have to go see the movie. Not hard to do, it is playing a block from my house in a vintage movie theater. Really good cheap popcorn. And really wonderful brownies.

For anyone who is curious about the author or the work that inspired the play, here is a wonderful study guide based on the movie, not the book. Background and thought-provoking questions:

Celebrity Big Brother – do you know what type of program, nkd?

    http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2013-01-03/celebrity-big-brother-2013-meet-the-housemates

ulti, I assume it’s like the other Big Brother shows where people live in a house together and get voted out. I don’t watch BB.
This is a “celebrity” version in the UK.
If you remember, Sauli came to fame on BB in Finland a few years ago.

  29. luval says:

I have watched every episode of Big Brother.

Sauli won BB in 2007. Not sure how much he won. Here in the states the prize is half a million.

  30. nkd says:
  31. HK fan says:

I actually have the book of Les Miz, but have never read it, maybe I will now….and the only stage version I have seen was when my daughter did it in a school production (apparently the first school in Asia to do it). So actually don’t know all that much about it.

ot….my son is just going off to get his first tattoo…..

  32. nkd says:

Sauli won BB in 2007. Not sure how much he won.

    50,000 Euros?

Here’s an interview with Sauli after his BB win, and a clip of the winning moment. He’s adorable. He talks about always having a smile and how that’s who he is.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHFme0N-8k4

  33. ultimathule says:

Thanks, nkd – remember the many vids of Sauli in that place and also the one where he was told that he’d won. If I’m not mistaken, Sauli’s said he would never do anything like that again – think the lack of privacy?

  34. ultimathule says:

In that interview, nkd – Sauli talks about a school shooting – looked it up – Jokela – 2007 – student killed eight others. Apparently there was another one also. Had a different view of Finland, but the domestic violence and suicide rates there, I see, are pretty high. Well, there was the Norway one, as well. Perhaps these Scandinavian countries are not quite the Nordic havens I’ve thought them to be.

  35. ultimathule says:

Krad – The Wall Street Journal Online has this article tonight that you might be interested in.

    The Cleric Behind ‘Les Mis’
Author Victor Hugo was anticlerical, yet his tale’s hero is set on course by a Catholic bishop. (Doris Donnelly)

  36. milwlovesadam says:

ultimat, I wouldn’t call DeCaprio’s character a “hoot.” If you see the movie, you’ll know why.

That review which was in The New Yorker under the Les Miz review was interesting. Yes, there were moments of comedy, actually one scene was positively Mel Brooks/Blazing Saddles. Thank goodness, at least it broke up the fear and brutality. It’s quite the movie.

But, the Candie character, he owns the plantation Candie Land, is probably going to earn him an Oscar nod. IMHO.

  37. glambotgram says:

HKfan congrats on getting a ticket. Yay

mils 2 of my kids saw Django and thought the way the violence was depicted in it made it a farce. Not to be believed.

  39. milwlovesadam says:

One more, did anybody else see the PBS tribute to Marvin Hamlish the other night? I just watched it. How wonderful. And it had Megan Hilty featured prominently.

While I was searching You Tube for Les Miz the other night, I found several videos of Aaron Tveit, and lo and behold, there he was as Fiyero. I also saw Terrance dancing with both Adam and Megan Hilty. Very nice.

True, glambot, that’s the whole point!!!

  41. milwlovesadam says:

Can anybody make a side by side of that tweet pic of Eber with baby Neil and this pic? Sweet.

  42. turquoisewaters says:

ultimathule/nkd: There is violence everywhere. But not everywhere to the same degree. I have often heard that lack of sunlight messes with the psyche and can lead to depression. What’s our excuse? I still have a feeling that Scandinavia is years ahead in their social policies.

  43. milwlovesadam says:

turquoise, I heard a doctor saying once that they should put vitamin D in the water, just like fluoride. D is not only generally good for you, but it is a natural anti-depressant.

But, then again, people still are violent in California….

Beautiful shot! I noticed today in the videos and pictures from the press conference how great Adam’s skin looks. His cleaner diet must be helping or else he’s found some awesome primer and make-up, or possibly a combination of both.

  45. milwlovesadam says:

Hahaha! Maybe he’s using BB cream??

  46. ultimathule says:

Didn’t he say something about skin abrasion, nkd>?

  47. turquoisewaters says:

glambotgram: That’s a great pic, but I think someone airbrushed him poreless. http://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/282919_403981223009821_1526231564_n.jpg

  48. turquoisewaters says:

Oops, should always look before you post. Seems like I went for the less flattering interpretation. It’s probably all of the above plus good lighting. But in general his skin has much improved, I’d definitely agree. And I would not be at all surprised if he did microdermabrasion or whatever the treatment of choice is.

  49. jlurksacto says:

But, then again, people still are violent in California….

    Now I resemble that!!!!!!
