Well, I’ve watched the first hour of Idol. I haven’t seen anyone yet that I would want to hear again. A beef I have is that do so many of them take a really good song and add so many trills and runs that they ruin it. Perhaps it’s just me…

Re feeling like an outsider, personally when Adam has mentioned that I took it that he meant he felt an outsider with his peers, as opposed to the business, like the ‘others’ are all a bit cliquey and won’t let him in, still feeling like that kid in school sitting alone in the lunchroom.

I watched the first episode last night (we’re one day behind here). my thoughts on the judges…
Mariah, thought she had some good critiques at times. Lots of room for improvement though.
Randy, didn’t seem as annoying as in previous years…
Keith, think he could be very good if he can get himself heard over the 2 women.
Nicki. At times good, but then says strange things, she’s very loud though, and a bit nasally, and the sniping with Mariah could get old very quickly…and what is with the fake (not even that good) British accent???? and why does she need hair stylists and hairspray when she is wearing a wig??? so many questions. I just don’t think she is a good fit for the AI viewing audience.
I thought at times they went too far with their sniping in front of the contestants.
Talking of contestants, can’t remember any of their names!!!
I still watch Idol, although turned off the end of the last 2 seasons as didn’t like the final contestants. Its still my favourite of the singing shows, can’t warm up to X factor or the voice.

Hi risky lady. Understand your point better now but the highest Cuckoo got the first time around was 32 and that is a tiny bump.
Remember how we were all wondering how to download the EP – in singles or as a cd? That debate was started by Adam Storm.
Adam Storm is a Glambert “street team”. They coordinate purchasing, puts gifters with giftees etc. Don’t know how big they are but they make a sales dent and work hard at it.
They were the ones who suggested we download ONLY the Trespassing radio edit from the EP so that it would record as a single sale. That was the week before PLL. A lot of fans were thrilled with the radio edit version because they had already downloaded the full cd and couldn’t download the original version of the song.
Adam Storm also had a backlog of “gifted” singles or $$$ to deploy as they thought best. (A friend of mine gifted them $1,000.) They switched to Cuckoo in PLL week when the Trespassing radio edit didn’t take off.
Oksana: I see your point about Cuckoo getting a re-run bump from real PLL fans but the first bump got a lot of help from Adam Storm.

Just finished watching the second episode of Idol, and what can I say…I’m actually quite enjoying this panel….Nicki’s still a bit OTT at times, but much livelier than the last 3 years.
I don’t see 420 tweet being removed from Adam’s twitter. It’s still showing on my device.
I must be bad bad adam fan, cuz I don’t know Adam Storm. I understand their effort to make people download Trespassing radio edit, and TS remixes, but how can you download something that is not unique? I’m still standing behind theory that Cuckoo was downloaded by casual PLL viewers.
BTW, looks like GGG already peaked on iTunes. Never made top 100.
One last comment about Adam the “outsider”. A whole lot of people are currently making a bundle out of portraying themselves as outsiders: Lady Gaga, every rap singer who ever spat out a note etc. Not to mention that a ton of fashion magazines last Fall featured “the rebel” theme (hilarious, considering what they do for a living but, hey.)
Adam IS an outsider. It’s who he is and part of his image. He actually has a whole 21st century Jimmy Dean “Rebel with a Cause”/Marlon Brando “Wild One” thing going on. It should have worked.
Trespassing was the most benign angle on outsiderli-ness that Adam could have managed unless you’re talking Fonzie. I can’t see how any radio station would be turned off by that. Plus, the song itself had a very libertarian guy thing going on: “I don’t need no sympathy, I won’t cry and whine”. It’s the most bouyant and affirmative outsider song I’ve ever heard. It doesn’t feel left out. It says: “Get ready! I’m coming in.”

Math not a favorite. If these tweets are tattoo ideas, I’d go with the raven or the snake (without completely understanding the symbolism). Either looks better than his last one to me.
BTW: Went to a Gaga concert last night. The short of it is: very good, but not nearly as good as Adam.
I know Adam Storm because a few close friends are part of it. Maybe it looms larger to me than it is.
That said, iTunes rankings are snapshots. I used to crunch sales numbers for a living and snapshot sales reports are a waste of time. Most of them mean diddly squat by the end of the week.
E.G. We now know that Trespassing cd did approximately 22,000 in the 24 weeks following the second week of July. That’s less than 1,000 a week. So when it moved up on iTunes after PLL – how many did it sell, per hour? Best case scenario? Perhaps the ranking looked good but the sales units are very low.
Don’t worry! A short-term iTunes bump does not spell a lost opportunity.
Be happy! Adam and RCA have decided to move on to a new cd and a new strategy.

Ron saw a 247,000 figure in September but he can’t remember where it came from. If true, the cd probably did reach Q3’s US plus 50% projection.
The cd may not have been released in OZ and NZ at that point so we might be able to add that.

She’s probably gotten positive reviews, too; this is the only review of the show that I’ve read. Was it overly long, frenetic, and lacking cohesion in your view? The reviewer did say that her voice sounded good throughout.
