2013 will apparently begin with a rather quiet month for Adam, as he has only one performance currently scheduled. This will be a Hennessy Artistry event in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on January 4. After that, Adam’s next scheduled event is the kickoff of his international “non-tour” in Seoul, South Korea on February 17. There is no official word as yet on whether some North American dates will eventually be added to the non-tour in the spring, but recent comments from Adam have not been very optimistic.

Above we see Adam performing at his final concert of 2012, at the Mulia Resort in Bali, Indonesia. Happy New Year and enjoy the chat!

I spent most of the day reading this.
It brought back my bitter-sweet memories.

Thanks, asif – Love the song “Celebrate” – saw the movie – liked it a lot. Jordin’s my fav girl singer from Idol. Voted for her. Got the voice, the looks, the moves – hope she makes it big.

  3. TLKC says:

WOW! Thanks, asif. I thought Neil’s blog was lost forever! At some point in mid-2009 it was crashed by a fan looking for family pictures.

Some of Neil’s earlier posts seem to be missing from here. There was a comical post about the two years he spent in love with a girl who did not return his feelings. It was easy to put that together with his comment about discussing “unrequited love” with Adam in the January 5th post and figure out that Neil was giving Adam the same advice about moving on that Adam had given him two years earlier. Siblings are the best sounding boards.

I felt sad for Adam even though, by then, he had a new boyfriend. Cheeks was such a cutie and very clever. I still follow him on twitter and check out the Husbands.

  4. TLKC says:

    Interesting, mils.

Eber has never stopped following Monte on twitter and he routinely highlights Monte’s awards/achievments and congratulates him. He recently welcomed Monte back from his Madonna Tour and inquired about his family. He also told two fans who told him off for tweeting Monte support that they were meddling.

All of the band follow Monte except Cam and she tweeted him about how nice it was to see him at NAMM last year. Also, when I purchased the B&W photos earlier this year from Lee Cherry, I noticed that he and Monte were conversing on his facebook.

It appears that Adam has never made anyone feel that remaining friends with Monte is a criteria for being friends with him. It also looks as though their mutual friends are not particularly judgmental in this matter.

IMHO, reserving judgment on the Monte matter is not the same as dis-believing Adam. It’s just saying that sometimes, when the interests of two good people conflict, they part company. Life is complicated and so are we.

  5. TLKC says:

WOW! P2’s video is really low on the 2012 Idol videos totem pole. Kelly, too. David Archuleta made a lot of videos.

  6. HK fan says:

I have the 1080 mp4 and was able to get keepvid to work for me to dl the 480 and the 720 file. I can load one to my mediafire for a download if you would like. Let me know.

nkd, thanks a lot for your generous offer Smile! I was already answering you yes please, I would love that, but then I thought maybe I’ll try the original vid download once more. And now it worked! It took over an hour to download but it’s there and kicking Smile Gonna watch in some good spot, now I don’t have to worry they take it away.

  8. TLKC says:

Queenonline has posted the Toronto Convention info.

    http://discuss.queenonline.com/search.php?keywords=adam+lambert

It’s $100 for a weekend pass, which includes a goodie bag with a T-shirt. Additionally (or alternatively) there is a dinner and show package for Saturday night at approximately $85 a head. It will be easy for Toronto Glamberts to fill a couple of tables – a dozen or so went to Queenbert UK.

Most people from out-of-town will not want to spend the entire weekend at a conference so the dinner would be a good option. (They are organizing tours to Niagara Falls and Toronto sights.)

If Adam doesn’t tour NA this year, it might be an interesting opportunity for Glamberts to meet up. Plus, we could keep asking the Queen PTB about an NA Queenbert Tour.

Guest performers from QE and WWRY Canadian casts.

I am going to check with Toronto Glamberts, AdbertDaily and Juneau/Zena – all are within 100 mile radius of Toronto and might be interested.

Keep you posted as we get closer to the date.

  9. TLKC says:

Oh, HK fan I missed that. So sads. Thought Adam won the #2 spot.

  10. cwm says:

TLKC – Don’t worry, Adam’s NCOE did win the #2 spot! The top 5 are listed in order of the top five. And then the remaining “others” are listed in alphabetical order. Adam’s BTIKM is at the top of that “other” list because it’s alphabetical.

  11. rs says:

Well, that was less than 24 hours of excitement that I would see Adam this spring……until I realised that Passover begins Monday evening, March 25th. There is no way that I can go to Finland for a concert on Friday, the 22nd. Too bad Cry

  12. luval says:

Same ole, same ole. Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson to perform at Obama inauguration.

  13. riskylady says:

mils, very interesting interview with Monte. I do like that they included some of Adam’s Citizen Vein recordings. I believe Durbin would sell his soul if he could sing like Adam at 3:59 on Chalice – actual words at that level without screeching, with vibrato and beautiful tone. Actually, like any of the three…..
I remember reading an interview with Ryan Tedder a few months ago, saying he thought Adam was a “rocker.” We know his voice + Queen music is literally heaven on earth – at least IMHO. But then, he’s sooooo good with other stuff too.
Anyway, there were some interesting tidbits in that interview – “Adam Mercury” LOL.
I can see how some friends and family would still be OK with Monte. But if I were Adam, don’t know if I could get over my all-important, self-executive produced sophomore album being interfered with, causing me a lawsuit and implying that I wasn’t elegible to compete on Idol. I think I too would permanently burn bridges after that. However, “never say never.” Time will tell.

Same ole on the radio, on EVERY awards show, etc. I shall not watch the People’s Choice, Grammys, etc. Always the same people patting each other on the back. Thank goodness VH1 had the balls to be brave and show something fresh (could’ve done without Paloma Faith and Metric though).

Like some of KC’s music, but don’t find her a particularly interesting performer. Disappointed – so predictable – so many better singers out there.

Beyonce’s excellent, though can get shrill in higher register. Like her sister better, actually.

  25. HK fan says:

    Love that Vietnam collage nkd

I feel the same about Kelly, I love her voice and really like most of her music, but her visual image and performances never match up with her voice. She’s definitely better to listen to than watch.

I hope the third album is for the fans–incorporating more of what we like the most:
    But what is that exactly?
We like so many different things from Adam. Just our small group here has different favorites and different songs that they don’t like as much.
I love FYE, but I love Trespassing more. I think it has a more sophisticated sound.
I might be disappointed in an Adam album that didn’t reach across genres for a mix of sounds.
Anyway, I’m excited for what he has next for us.

This is from a few pages ago…I am sadly behind in my fangirling!
But this post expresses my thoughts exactly.

Here is a link to today’s “On Point” radio program on NPR, exploring the new music of 2013 wtih a little look back at 2012. It isn’t pop – to be honest, I have never heard of any of these people and don’t like most of them now that I have heard them. But gotta admit that there is some powerful and interesting stuff here.
    http://onpoint.wbur.org/2013/01/09/2013-new-music
Would love to see Adam mentioned on next year’s show; he fits in this context of “not the usual thing” music; all of these performers seem to have a dedicated fan base, but they aren’t really radio artists. (at least not here)

  30. Kradamour says:

    http://entertainment.inquirer.net/75671/adam-lambert-concert-moved-pinay-jazz-pianist-in-concert

  32. HK fan says:

I thought Id seen it written ages ago that Adams concert had changed venue in Manila, and that the new place was bigger, held 3,000 more……maybe I’m imagining it.

I also read the Monte interview, maybe I’m reading it differently to everyone else thought as I wasn’t that impressed with it. Although he spoke about Citizen Vein, he never mentioned touring with Adam for 2 years when he was a ‘solo’ artist, basically dissed Idol and said everyone who comes off it are not real artists, although the right choice for Adam. And that he shouldn’t be singing pop………..

  33. AL says:

I thought Id seen it written ages ago that Adams concert had changed venue in Manila, and that the new place was bigger, held 3,000 more…

Could well be. I am always the last one to know! Wink

  34. glambotgram says:

HK Fan I agree about the Monte interview. He said very little in praise of Adam and frankly would come off looking like a real asshat if he had dissed him. He has done enough damage.

  35. ultimathule says:

Agree with you, HK fan, about the Monte interview. He just slid right by those years of performing all over the world with Adam.

I might not have been clear in my meaning when I originally posted about an album for the fans. I think it’s easy to see what the fans like–just by the you-tube hits on certain songs, the grammy nomination, etc. I love it that Adam doesn’t stick to one genre, and hope he always mixes it up. I’ve always said that I think he is a game-changer.

But I think he HAS to have a mainstream success right now to be able to continue what he wants to do. He has a great fanbase to keep him working for a long time, but he has always expressed a desire for commercial success–to turn on the radio and hear his music. I think he can write great music tailored to what his fans have liked in the past. I would love to see his albums fly off the shelves and set new records in downloads. Once he has that kind of success, he is free to experiment and branch out.

This is the kind of thing he is fighting against–my sister, who cheered him on during Idol said this when I sent a link to try to interest her into watching VH1 Divas. Another sister, from a different part of the country agreed with her. My daughter, who is a big fan and went to the concert with me did not buy TSP–she shares music with her six year old and didn’t feel it was appropriate for her. My sister said:

Adam would be cute no matter what, but I’m not crazy about eye makeup on men. And I’m not crazy about this kind of music. (Sent her Shady from the Jingle Ball) He has such a beautiful voice for ballads. Does he work some softer songs into his concerts? His eyes may be his best feature, but you can’t see them through all the makeup. I think he has a nice smile, too. I know his true blue fans (like you) will love him no matter what he does, but for us more conservative people (old and boring?), the outlandish look and freakish behavior mixed with the too loud music, lost him potential fans after American Idol – which he should have won, by the way. It’s always so obvious that the voting results are not an accurate picture of who really was the fan favorite.

I think she represents a lot of the people who saw him on Idol and have only seen bits and pieces of tv coverage–like the Miami confrontation, the fight in Finland, the AMAs, the big deal over the kiss during GN. Notice that she didn’t mention GAY–as I’ve said before, we grew up with family friends who were gay so that has never been a big deal to us. But we are from a conservative area of Ohio, where public displays can be a bit off-putting. (And this conversation was after I forced her to watch the Kiev concert with Queen!)

    Anyway–JMHO. I’ll buy whatever he’s selling.

  41. milwlovesadam says:

Hey rs, I know it’s the middle of the night where you are, but, my kids eased their homesickness in your city with a snowball “fight” on Ben Yehuda, and another at the Kotel ( Western Wall ) today. They also watched the Packer game the other day. And somebody was trying to build a snowman at the wall today, but the guards told them it wasn’t appropriate.
My boys thought that was hilarious.

( Snow in Jerusalem is rare.)
They said there was a lot of rain and that the water level in the Kinneret ( Sea of Galilee ) has raised several inches. That’s good news, isn’t it?

  42. JOJOSIE says:

Since I’m in the mood and things are slow here, I’ll share an Adam story. I went to get my hair cut before going to the concert in Phoenix. They were slow that afternoon (road work in front)so I had the place to myself with two hairdressers both in their twentys. We were talking alot and the subject of my trip came up and I told them I was going to a concert there. They asked who and I said Adam Lambert and they both uttered a little scream. One said I wants to have his baby, he’s so beautiful, but I don’t think he’d be into that. The other one (she was sporting pink hair)said she’d voted for him on Idol and had his album. I had my folder with my M&G pictures in the car, so I went and got it. I wish I’d had an extra TSP CD there as neither knew about his new album. They freaked out seeing my picture with Adam having his arm around me and also noticed that my arm was around his waist too. I went back recently for a haircut and the one who cut my hair said ” your back, we were just talking about you the other day.” I immediately took out Jlurks DVDs as they both said previously that they were Queen fans. The one with the pink hair wasn’t there and she was the one that jumped out of her chair when I mentioned Queen and Adam so I hope she enjoys her copy. Jlurks has made a lot of folks happy by sharing. Big Smile

Love this from The Onion – their take on Russell Crowe’s performance in Les Miserable. Although he took heat for it, Adam is definitely not alone in his critique! (But we already knew that.)

    http://www.theonion.com/video/russell-crowe-praised-for-stunning-portrayal-of-ma,30839/

  44. milwlovesadam says:

Jojosie, HI!!! I love your story. Hoping they enjoy those Cd’s!! I know they will…

  45. milwlovesadam says:

OMG CWM!! That is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Laughing out loud here for real!! Thank you!!

Somebody needs to tweet that to Adam or his dad. So good!

  46. cwm says:

Jojosie – I love your hairdresser story! That’s fantastic! Yes people do adore Adam!

And Ellessay – I agree that just as there are people who adore Adam for who and what he is and stands for (like Jojosie’s hairdressers and us hardcores), there are also people (like your sisters) who can’t quite appreciate, understand, accept, or even stomach him. And I think that’s ok. He is not for everyone, he is polarizing, and casual fans may appreciate only a limited aspect of his voice or his music or his appearance, rather than what we know to be the amazing range of music and looks he excels at.

There’s NO way he will ever please everyone who like/loved him on Idol. So all he can do is stay true to himself and his artistic vision, do his best to balance his aim for commercial success with his artistic integrity, and hope that he attracts and keeps enough fans and supporters to be successful. I think whether or not he ever has huge-scale mainstream superstar success is an open question, given how polarizing and different he is. But he will have success and longevity on some level, I have no doubts about that. JMHO Smile

  47. JOJOSIE says:

cwm, I’m with Krad, that after meeting you I’m sure you can handle and deserve your new promotion. You proved how well you can handle stressful situations by keeping your cool on seeing Adam in the airport and remaining calm on the same plane with him. Yes

  48. cwm says:

To follow up my previous post, I want to share my story of introducing Adam to a 29-year-old (yes actually 29 for real – not “29”!) male musician.

I have a colleague in Australia who is a charming 29-year-old man, who moonlights as a musician – drummer – in an indie band. He is very knowledgeable, passionate, and discerning about music, and especially loves live music. Over time, he and I have exchanged emails about our mutual interest in music, the music industry, his band, etc. During the GNT, I would occasionally send him youtubes of Adam’s performances (e.g. Sleepwalker, WWL) which he really enjoyed.

Well, back in August 2012, after the Queen shows, I was describing to him how epic the shows were and, since he is a big Queen fan, he was excited to see some videos. So I sent him a sampling of youtubes of about eight songs from both the Kiev and London shows, as well as Adam’s cover of Is This Love from the Take40 Lounge show in Sydney, which he had just performed. (Adam was in Australia at the time for the Take40 Lounge show and that appearance on their morning TV show).

This is what he emailed back in response:

Wow – what can I Say!! I got in this morning about an hour ago and I have been captivated by these videos since! (Don’t tell [his boss]!). Each of them are really quite incredible. The drum battle in particular was a real highlight – but all of it was clearly impressive. And the crowds..wow! Not only were some of those crowds totally massive, but everyone seemed totally hyped up and Adam/Queen had them on a string. That kind of enthusiasm, sustained across a huge set list and multiple venues, is a huge testament to the quality of the show. You are very lucky to have seen it all (including his torn pants and barefoot antics!). Oh, and how cool was the Marley cover! A most incredible coincidence occurred yesterday morning when I turned my TV on and tuned in to one of our breakfast shows, and on comes Adam Lambert (he was blonde like in the Bob Marley clip interestingly enough). He is in Aus promoting his new album. The thing which struck me was how humble and “earthy” he is. He seems genuinely grateful for the opportunities he’s been presented with it hasn’t taken him over. It was actually a very impressive, albeit brief, interview.

Loved his reaction to Adam the musician and Adam the person. And remember that this is a 29-year-old male indie musician. Smile

In response, I encouraged him to check out Trespassing. He hadn’t heard it yet and asked me which tracks to focus on. I gave him a brief description of each of the tracks and told him that he really needed to listen to the whole thing. Well, after much delay, he recently sent me his “listening notes,” by which he means that he listened very carefully to the entire album 3 or more times and made notes about his opinion of each of the tracks.

Just to build a little suspense, I’ll post his listening notes a little later. teehee Razz

  49. ultimathule says:

Oh, cwm – I’m on tenterhooks (whatever they are). Will it be in chapters – hangin’ on every word here. Track-by-track – that’ll be fascinating – and by a musician – even more so.

  50. cwm says:

Awww thanks JOJOSIE. That’s sweet of you to say. I have to confess that after 3 days on the new job, I’m finding my new job duties interesting and challenging, but I already feel my stress level going up and my calendar and to-do list getting out of control! Hopefully over time I’ll be able to find the right balance and rhythm that will allow me to get everything important done ( and still allow for some berting time!).

At the very least, I’m gonna need to be hearing Adam’s voice for stress relief!
