I have a question for you guys…
I’ve been checking out some of my local radio stations. Toby Knapp’s and Ryan Seacrest’s Hot 99.5 station in my area is listed as Genre-Top 40/Pop. Does this mean that a song doesn’t get played if it is not yet in the top 40???

Adam’s new look is VERY attractive. I sent my youngest sister a link to the acoustic BTIKM. She was the cause of me voting like a teenager to countract her Gokey votes during season 8. I was able to get her to go to a GlamNation concert with me. Although she enjoyed herself, she was still not a convert. I’ve sent her videos and none have impressed her. Her biggest complaint about Adam? He sticks out his tongue when he sings. I warned her that he would stick out his tongue near the end of the BTIKM video. This is her response to the last video…

He didn’t have much space to be able to get up and move the body around… did you expect the tongue to stay put too??? geesh that was asking quite a bit from him don’t you think! LOL

This is from Digital Dream Door…Some “music people” on why Adam sticks out his tongue:
“Yeah, Lambert does do that a lot. He’s raising his soft palate so that his access into high head voice and falsetto is much more reliable to switch into and his chords are configured properly, making it easier to sing in. Its important to do this when singing in head voice because it naturally keeps you from pulling chest voice up too high. Its the same throat configuration as when your yawning.”
“Very good points made about taking care of his voice. Too many great singers have destroyed their instruments because of improper technique. (Oh Whitney…) I think Lambert will be okay for quite some time. He has found a way to create a lot of resonating space while he sings by actually sticking his tongue OUT of his mouth for the insanely high notes.”
Thanks. I’ve had voice lessons, so I was aware of this and tried to explain it to my sister back during Season 8, but she wasn’t having any of it. What can I say? She was a Gokey fan–does that explain it?? LOL. It wasn’t Gokey’s voice…it was because he resembled Robert Downey Jr. I didn’t see it though.
We always watched Idol together, but now that she’s moved several states away, our viewing party consists of my father (80), my aunt (78), another sister (50), and my daughter-in-law (32) and me…who just turned 30 with about 28 years of experience at it! Dad keeps threatening to quit watching Idol–he was upset David A. didn’t win, that Adam didn’t win, that anyone but Lee didn’t win. But he LOVED Scotty. I was surprised that he likes post-idol Adam, but he said Adam is a bit like Liberace–he can glam up however he wants because he’s got the talent to back it up. (Mom & Dad saw Liberace in Las Vegas and loved him.)
If I’m being honest, I liked Danny Gokey too. Not because of his voice, but he looked like this actor on Grey’s Anatomy!!
Okay, true confessions… Saw Gokey on the idol tour in Baltimore, and I actually felt the Gokey Love from the audience and got a little bit caught up in it…oh, I feel so dirty…
Well. After listening to the new vids of Trespassing, I’m loving it!! It has such a 60’s sound, so rock, so fun, it has got to be just great on the CD. This needs to go to radio, and he needs to do this one on TV, on Idol or the Voice, not BTIKM.
kradamour, don’t feel dirty honey, I’m from Gokey’s hometown, and the love for him was insane at the tour show. That is until Adam came on, OMG. Talk about loud audience love, it just completely overshadowed Gokey-fest, popped my eardrums and my eyeballs!!

I love the little bit of Trespassing that we got. I’m sure the studio version is much different as will be the plugged in live performances. This little taste has made me hungry for the whole dish! I want it now!
mils…your post mentioning Trespassing forced me to go watch it again! Glad you’re on the train! I love it and can’t wait to see Adam strut across the stage. I shouldn’t be up but I have to pick up someone at the airport at midnight! ugh. I’m so tired now and will only get 4hrs sleep.

I have a confession. I haven’t commented about Trespassing. This time last night when I went in for the night, I wasn’t liking it very much. I decided to marinate on it overnight before I made a comment. Well, after listening to it several times and thinking “sounds like a Michael Jackson song” and “reminds me of Another One Bites The Dust” (as someone has said), I decided that I do like it pretty much. I think I will love it with more drums, etc. I do share the same concern that someone else mentioned about Adam forgetting the lyrics because he already does forget lyrics. And that’s not unheard of anyway in live music. I like the rap-like vibe that it has. I know some peeps don’t like rap/hip-hop, but I do like some of it. For someone to be really good at it takes a lot of talent, and I respect that. I talk fast, but it’s whatever comes out of my mouth. I couldn’t talk fast at all if I had to try to remember a scripted piece.
Gah! I really needed some Adam time tonight after filling out FAFSA for son #2!! I’d rather have a root canal than keep doing this year after year. No wonder I bury myself in this fandom, it numbs the pain!!
Well. It does give me other feelings too, ahem.

I guess when Trespassing hits the airways/airwaves (whichever), they’ll be bleeping the “azz” word, huh? That’ll probably catch the attention of some folks so maybe they’ll take notice more than they were. I really do like the attitude of the song, and we know Adam can really show off his attitude as he did in Strut.
I looked at a different picture of Adam at Whole Foods and I also see Kale just before celery. The idea of drinking that green drink makes me a little nauseous. Don’t think I’m up to drinking my veggies, I guess I’ll just eat them. My husbands parents were from Denmark and he was exposed to Kale when he was younger and not a fan. I’ve never tasted it but do like all the others in the cabbage family. I’m definitely going to try it this summer when I can get some grown locally. I live in a part of the country where we don’t have any Whole Foods stores. Like other Adam fans we really don’t know about Adam and Monte’s relationship. It may have been a very mutual parting. I really won’t miss Monte. I like the younger more current vibe of the band now. Rumors are flying that Sauli is in Germany with Adam. Someone posted that he saw 1 1/2 Finns checking into his hotel. They assume it was Adam and Sauli but I think it’s just a rumor. Time will tell.

BTIKM: It’s the Aftermath effect all over for me. Couldn’t really warm up to the fully produced version. And then the acoustic version comes around, and I suddenly can see the beauty of the song.
