Adam-TheOriginalHigh
What a January – rave reviews for the concerts in UK and Europe; news about a new label, single and record; and of course, his 33rd birthday! Looks like February will just be Queen and Adam as they tour all month long wrapping up in Sheffield on the 27th. Adam won’t have any time to relax though because it will probably be single and album promotion in March and beyond. Can’t wait to hear the new single!

We are all on an Original High and the photo above is courtesy of Adam when he announced his new record news.

Enjoy the chat!

And, I’m off to bed, hot tea in hand. Gonna re-watch Annie Lennox from last night. She was the talk today at work, incredible vocal. Epic performance.

I am worried about Adam too. On one hand, I hope he is well enough to do the concert tomorrow night, but on the other had, I hope he gets told not to, he really needs to heal, and not hurt anything in his voice. I bet they are on top of it, but you cant make things heal fast, even with all the drugs. And we dont know how bad it is. I really hope he doesnt make a decision to go on if hes not 100% I really wish we knew his condition, I cant imagine how it is for Brian and company. I wonder if they could pull in a substitute for awhile, or be able to back track and make up some shows. This is really a mess, so sad.
And welcome to the new posters, I have been here since we opened up shop, just dont post a lot, but read a lot!

It’s ridiculous how much I miss Adam & QAL. It’s only been a couple days. Jeeze get a grip, what’s gonna happen in March?? #drought

*pokes head out of the shadows*

Is this how I do this just jump in and post?? I’m the lurker from the stream that Ras said if I was lurking to pop up and say hi so, hi *waves* Also I’ve been talking to Cait1602. Let me know if I did this right/wrong. I’m still a little lost navigationally I kept finding things from 2010 GNT Era and I still haven’t found Cait’s recap. Off I go back to old school interviews/songs of Adam’s, a bit to empathetic to watch him with Queen at the moment (yes I’m a dork) I’m sending Adam all the good energy, warm blankets, positive things I can muster. Get better Mister

  9. ultimathule says:

Hi, Sweetpeabert – *waves back* – so good to see you here!

  10. Kiwi says:

Hi all, I’m coming up for a gulp of air. I’ve spent the last two days drowning in Adam stuff! I had such a mess (created by myself) of videos I had downloaded that I couldn’t find anything. So I have put it all on discs (I know! Old school) because I like the look of a disc with a nice picture printed on it; inside a multi disc box with a nice Adam photo and all the requisite info. Pats self on back.
Now to sit back and pray that the boy is feeling up to taking the stage again. But only if he’s really up to it. He does have another break after Milan, but as we have some of our crew going I’m keeping everything crossed.
Really nice to see some new faces? here. I love being a very tiny part of a world community, it makes me feel I haven’t completely lost my mind!

Hi Sweatpeabert, so nice to wake up to find you here! Cute blog name but don’t be surprised if it gets shortened here “for easy access”, lol

Cait’s Recap is on the Hamburg QAL concert thread. The link is on the Recent Posts on the right. Comments go fron newest to earliest, so just scroll back til you find it.

Sweetpeabert: Yep, this is exactly how you do this. Welcome!

  15. LadyNorth says:

Welcome sweetpeabert! I’ve been also on stream chats, so probably I have seen you there Smile

I can’t help being a bit worried after reading mils’s post Frown Please no damage to his precious voice… Maybe re-scheduling is not possible after the tour because Adam already has commitments re era3? Re-scheduling of some shows might be a best choice in this situation. I am saying this even though I should be in Prague show next week. But his health comes first.

  16. AL says:

Hi Sweetpeabert! Welcome! Glad to see new fans joining the blog.
For Cait‘s recap, check under “Reviews/Articles/Interviews” at the top of the Hamburg thread.

  17. Cait1602 says:

milwlovesadam Oh yeah I was sent to Napa a week ago or so. After a live audio stream. Going back there again and again. I love it. Nothing else to say about that gig. Totally in love with it!

  18. Cait1602 says:

Sweetpeabert Hi!!!!! Smile So good to finally “read” you here too.

Kiwi yeah drowning in Adam and Queen too. But dont think, I wanna come back up for a breath lol The last few days were hell for me. On bedrest too, damn cough has become a bronchitis. No work for me till thursday if even.

I cant comprehend how Adam even thinks about getting on stage with bronchitis. I feel like shit and he wants to sing for thousands. He is unbelieveable.

Just hope he doesnt do any damage to his voice and his health. Nothing is more important than his health!

  20. nkd says:

    Welcome Sweetpeabert!
Yep, just jump in and talk.

  21. nkd says:

Cait, it’s overwhelming isn’t it?!! So many videos!
Sorry to hear that you are still feeling so ill.

cwm‘s list has some great suggestions.
And there are many many more treasures!

  22. Cait1602 says:

nkd Thats my plan for the day. Watching concerts, vids on YouTube, sleeping in between. Makes the day a bit brighter seeing that boy on stage, hearing his voice.

  23. Kiwi says:

I don’t mind drowning in Adam videos Cait1602. I’ve just re-watched River Rock from 2010, Ten Commandments and American Idol “the Movie”. What a mixture! Adam satisfies my every musical need.

  24. Kiwi says:

I did have a chuckle watching River Rock and seeing Adam in his glittery “Queen” tee shirt. Little did we know what was to come.

  25. rs says:

Yeah, sweetpeabert and I sent Cait Napa vids in our first post-concert convo!

My car got rear-ended yesterday at an intersection! Doesn’t look like much damage, but very expensive to fix. Now I have to deal with him and his insurance agents (rental). The last thing I needed now.

I have Scrabble Club tonight, so I will miss the beginning of the concert. Will keep checking, though, to see if it is happening.

  26. cher says:

Welcome sweetpeabert and skaschep! Happy to have you here.

Mieps, enjoy the concert with riskyhubby and riskylady! Sorry
I couldn’t be there but have fun for me. One month down two to go. Never knew I would miss walking so much. Frown Then again probably when I can walk again my lazy butt will probably be sitting down Laugh reading Adam stuff on the computer anyway.

I forgot it was the Milan concert later today if you believe that and a cousin who was supposed to have gone to Milan with me wants to come get me wheelchair and all to go to her house to play games with her house guest who is a quadriplegic. I couldn’t say no at the time and then afterwards I realized Milan would be on livestream and now I gotta go. A promise is a promise. I feel ungrateful for complaining about my temporary invalid state when there are so many like this lady that are so happy to be alive even though permanently invalid. I lent them my shower chair (that someone lent me) because I can bathe in four stages without it and don’t have to use the chair. Just more convenient. I’ll take my laptop and try to listen anyway.

  27. cher says:

One more complaint. DH is in hot water with me. Earlier when I finished my bath and had gone back to the bed just sitting at the foot of it and was preparing to slide up backways. I put my crutches at the foot of the bed beside me where they normally stay and DH dived into his side of the bed (childish) and accidentally kicked my crutches right onto yes.. that foot!
The boot was on but unfortunately the top part where they hit
are not as protected as the sides and the bottom. OUCH and Double Ouch. angelowal, this boot looks like Darth Vader’s foot. I kid you not. Clunky and heavy!! The top part is padded fabric only and the bottom and sides are hard plastic or whatever. Rant over! Gone to zzzzz, I should punish him by playing Adam music while he’s sleeping. ROTFL

  28. cwm says:

Welcome skachep and sweetpeabert! So great to have you here! Please feel free to ask anything about where to find stuff or how we do things here – you’ll find us to be a super helpful and friendly bunch, Smile

Like the rest of you, I’ve been on pins and needles the last couple of days thinking/wondering/worrying about how Adam is doing and whether he will be up to performing tonight. Sending him virtual chicken soup and healing energy like crazy. And also to mils and Cait who also have bronchitis!

Given that it’s almost 1:30pm in Milan, I figure no news is good news the later it gets in the day. I wonder at what point they make the definitive decision that it’s a go or no-go. Fingers crossed that he’s way better and feelin’ good!

  29. cwm says:

Here’s a nice write-up on Max Martin, having won his first Grammy. They rank his 56 top-10 hits. WWFM is in there at #9. Smile

Cool slow motion vid of the curtain going up in Frankfurt:

    https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152575869047793

Which reminds me – there was a recent video posted a week or so ago where you could apparently see backstage from the side, behind the curtain, and could see Adam in his final preparations (stretching, etc.) right before the curtain goes up. I never got a chance to watch that and would love to see it. Does anybody have that link or can point me to it? Thanks!

  31. Axxxel says:

    cwm… if I were them, I would make a decision 6 hours before take off… so around 3 pm…

Still a bit worried… He may perform tonight but what about long term consequences ?

ETA: and I hope he will leave WWTLF out of the setlist.

  32. Axxxel says:

I am humane (maybe because I cannot cook LOL)
You’re a humane person — distinctly considerate and empathetic. You can almost flawlessly understand people’s feelings, behaviors, and actions, and you excel at addressing people’s needs in a very superhuman way. Your ability to cooperate and work together is madly impressive, and everyone wishes you were on their team.

  34. luval says:

@Kate__TheGreat: Confirmed from the guard: they are inside the venue

Maybe he didn’t have bronchitis. Just a bad cold. The worst that could happen IMO is that he sings today but might have to cancel next show and it really harms his voice due to not enough rest.

  35. Axxxel says:

luval also have that feeling that at least another concert may be cancelled…Me and my pessimism.

Get well soon milwlovesadam and Cait1602.
Hope you nip that cold in the bud, rs. Prague is calling !!

  38. cwm says:

    Thanks glambotgram! I love that!

Stretch the shoulders, couple of knee bends to make sure the pants are well seated, adjust the collar, check the fly… OK GOOD TO GO! Big Smile

  39. skaschep says:

glambotgram Nice video. Bit weird to see this since I was there. I made a short video myself more from the front of the curtain going up and Adam behind the curtain.

He seems a bit searching still for the vibe during this song. I’ve seen some other video’s of Amsterdam where he goes pretty nuts (for instance CLTCL: Youtube Amsterdam CLTCL). Don’t know if he got some weed somewhere when he went down during RGG. He did mention during the concert that he smelled something during that.

  40. cwm says:

On my phone so can’t easily bring it here, but Adam just tweeted “Alright Milan! See you at the show tonight!”

    YAAAAAAAYYYY!!!

  41. LadyNorth says:

luval, that’s why I am worried. He may do “fine” tonight, but the consequences…

Anyway, I pumped into some info about singing when sick, from people who are professionals (classic/opera). I want to believe Adam and the other crew do all the right choices tonight.

    http://idolforums.com/index.php?s=dc7fb60d24762018074e209ad68dad67&showtopic=718991&st=0&p=26704072&#entry26704072

The second one I can’t link, because it’s from the closed group. So I just quote it and inform it’s written by a lady who sings professionally, brought from QAL Fans United fb group.

“As promised, a bit more detail about the “technical stuff” which stops a singer performing when they have bronchitis. There are two dangers; the coughing knocks the living daylights out of your vocal cords, and in extreme circumstances can cause them to bleed (eww). Unfortunately, if your voice feels husky, the temptation is to try and push past it, as if you apply more pressure to your voice it will come out (sort of). some bits of the voice won’t be affected – for a man, the falsetto range will probably be fine as it’s produced by a different mechanism to the rest of the voice. The bits of the voice that get most badly affected are the middle and the “glory” notes, which is why he missed them out last night.
It’s really tempting to try and carry on, but if you and don’t rest up, you can end up with laryngitis, which is bad news as that can take several days (if not longer) of complete voice rest to heal.
However, the good news is that Adam will be getting the best medical attention that money can buy, and he’s also an extremely fit guy, which will mean he has better powers of recovery that most of the rest of us! He will probably be advised to stay off anything alcoholic for a few days, as that dilates the blood vessels in your larynx. I suspect he will also be getting anti-inflammatories, zinc (for healing) and possibly antibiotics if they think there is any sort of bacterial infection. He’ll also be advised to get plenty of fluids and probably steam inhalations as well, as they help to dilate all the crap in your throat and lungs.
There are one or two (pretty nasty) emergency treatments to get your voice back, but I hope he doesn’t go down that road as you can end up paying for it later.
It may well be that the set will change for a few performances – I wouldn’t be at all surprised if TSMGO and WWTLF stay out for a few days as they are both “high pressure” songs. I wouldn’t be surprised if Roger does These are the Days, and they might also break up the set a bit more, as often when you’re unwell you can sing for 10-15 minutes and then need a rest.
Sorry for the long post, but I know everyone’s anxious about Adam’s voice and I know all this crap because I’ve sung for years myself.”

  44. LadyNorth says:

Lol luval, I was just on Milan thread telling I have posted something here Grin I see if you’ve done it or I can bring it there.

ETA: copied it to Milan thread too

  45. Cait1602 says:

Being sick doesnt agree with me. Already did all, what i could do. Sleeping, napping, eating, drinking, short walks through the garden, listening to Adam, Queen, QAL. Now all is left waiting for tonight…who ever invented bronchitis should be shot thrice

  46. Calgary says:

Cait Loved your Hamburg recap, especially all the comments about the crowd response! Thanks!

  47. angelowal says:

mils, so sorry to hear that you have been hit by that bug too – bronchitis (in my experience) takes a long time to get over, especially that cough Frown I hope the early meds helped you and that you’re not laid up for too long. It took me a month to get over my infection and still have the occasional coughing spasms.

I can’t imagine how distressing it must be for Adam to get such an ailment – it really must be crippling for a singer of his calibre. I wonder how he’ll manage today? Sure hope that he’s not beating himself up for not performing up to his usual beyond perfect standards Big Frown .

cher, I know that big boot is cumbersome, but it’s oh so much better than a solid, fixed cast; at least you can get it off to scratch and air your leg out. Did you try removing the padded lining and replacing it with a hand towel to make it less sweaty?

Too bad about hubby’s awkward trip, but ya know, those crutches aren’t just walking aids, they’re really good ‘whackers’ – not that I condone Laugh No corporal punishment, but it is cathartic to imagine it, sometimes Wink ……

  48. Sweetpeabert says:

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the welcome wishes! I’ve drowned myself in Adam (that sounds odd/off in my head, sorry lol) the last few days also. Old school Adam before Queen it makes me feel like I’m sending him good energy and love. I did it until the next time i went to twitter to check on him. Why am I so protective over him??

See you all later today at the stream. I’ll be around but may pass out from lack of oxygen. I’ll be holding my breathe hoping he doesn’t cause damage somehow. I trust him but still worried/nervous.

Haven’t even watched Frankfurt (could barely listen to the end of the stream. I just wanted him to go curl up in bed) or Hamburg yet.

  49. firstimerob says:

I have been worried sick regarding Adam getting sick. Yesterday I went to a school concert of 10 and 11 yrs old. All I could think of ginger hair Adam same age saying “if I could do this the rest of my life I would be very happy.” My eyes filled with tears thinking please get better soon Adam.

  50. firstimerob says:

Cait Fantastic recap. Omg you said it all. I remembered all those feelings of the concerts I have been too you differently are not alone.
