nkd you sweet wonderful person, thank you I am downloading them now. Feeling good is something incredible. I wish I had something to give back. But the only thing I have and you don’t is salty licorice
Technology hasn’t been my friend yesterday. My stereo system doesn’t work. It doesn’t switch on. So no cd listening now I have to listen to what I have on lap top (both FYE and TP and Queenbert thank god). And a few songs that I have on my old MP3 player. My old table computer with CD drive said bye bye too, on the same day. I have only used it lately for ripping my CDs to MP3s. But all my old photos are there. Luckily I had saved everything on external hard disc a year ago.
My new Adam hobby has raised a need to get some new technology. Now I have a reason for that. Lap top that can be connected to TV. MP3 player with bigger storage. Or a smart phone where to add music. I hate to learn how to use them Haven’t had the need before…
LesMiz gate. I am glad that I was asleep when it was on. When a critic says something, it’s not that deep. And ordinary people in Twitter/youtube say very harsh things about many subjects. But when a celebrity says something, it raises a war. I haven’t seen the movie, so I can’t have an opinion about that. Adam has every right to say his opinion and he is probably right, I just hope he realizes the consequences if there are such.
Happy New Year’s Eve Birthday DCGlam! Enjoy your day today and if you’re going to a party tonight have fun! Double celebration for you today!
Was in Denny’s eating after midnight this am and lo and behold! They were playing NCOE!! I had to stop eating to listen. Wasn’t a radio station playing though. In-house cd? Made my night!
Happy New Year to you!!!
Cher I hope dcglam goes back a few pages to see her birthday greetings. I was’t sure I’d be lurking today as our restaurant is having big preparations for tonight’s dinner. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL. HOPE IT IS A WONDERFUL YEAR FOR EVERYONE HERE.
Not worried about Miz-gate. Let Adam have an opinion and glad he has the balls to post it. I haven’t seen the movie or the play but he is correct, the songs deserve great singers.
Lady North Feeling Good will forever be one of my favorite Adam performances. The vocals, the stairs, the suit. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE IT.
TLKC I would like a seat on the plane also. I can help mils keep the corner mopped up.
YAY…\O/… I’VE GOT THE TOAST!!! I’VE GOT THE TOAST!!!
I’m very, very happy.
Fianlly, I belong to the Yakking Club!!!
Thank you AL !!!

adamlambert:
Im so thankful for my Glamberts this year! Without your Support, Energy and Joy, my endeavors would not have meant anything! 2013-MORE!!!
Hi glambotgram, your name is now on the Wembley Wonders list on page 44.
I saw Les Miserables on Sunday and discussed it with Ron yesterday morning. I feel pretty much the same as Adam, except that I did think that Amanda Seyfried did a good job on Cosette. (All the girls were good.)
Imho, Russell Crowe was dreadful to the point of ruining the movie. Hugh Jackman was okay but after you have heard Colm Wilkinson? Also, I beg to differ on his “Boy from Oz” vocals. My theatre-freak friend made me listen to the cd on a drive one day and his vocals aren’t that good. I finally got her to admit that part of Hugh’s charm is visual and seeing him on stage automatically adds a lot of oomph to whatever he is singing.
Helena BC and Sascha BC were a delightful blend of Dickens and Tim Burton, helped by the fact that their characters are intended to provide comic relief.
It is a mystery to me why the director didn’t help some of the actors out by pre-recording. The vocals ruined the film for me and a few others I know.
Ask yourself why the director wasn’t nominated for a GG. He didn’t pull the sum of the parts of this film together. He didn’t serve the actors by assisting them on vocals. To the extent that he put these people through a vocal version of “Dancing With the Stars” – talented people doing something they do not do best – he sacrificed the power and the feeling of this amazing story.
It’s all about the actors and the director and how they stretched themselves – well guess what? It’s not.
The huge box office Les Miserables is getting is mostly due to the success of the play, which begs the question: why did they need a big name actor in the role of Javert to pull in middle-aged female fans? This movie was going to get them big-time anyway.
Other musicals have done a much better job over the years. NINE and Chicago, to name a few. Not sure, but I bet the singing was pre-recorded on both.
Is there a cd for Les Miserables? Can’t wait to see the sales.
Maybe Adam Lambert is incensed because he knows a lot of Broadway singers who could have served the story better. And who probably needed the work.
Addendum to above: Hugh Jackman was okay and I would be hard-pressed to say who else could have balanced the acting and singing requirements as well as he did. Don’t want that to get lost in the shuffle about how I feel about his vocals in general.
Also don’t think Adam’s comments are a biggie since most of Broadway (and the critis) agree. Also, JJ, Rickie and the Hollywood Reporter are a small bubble. And if it keeps Adam out of the movies, that’s okay with me. Acting is not his forte and what’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
Happy new year, 25 mins to go here…..
DEAR ALL,
HAVE A HAPPY, HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2013!!!
MAY ALL YOUR WISHES COME TRUE.
LOVE, LIGHT & PEACE
Adam must have been shocked when he heard those vocals – for those who love the music of Les Miz must have been a big disappointment. Understand his reaction much more now.
Dear rs!
I’m very touched that you went out of your way to get my email address to be able to send the New Year’s e-card! How very thoughtful and considerate of you! I appreciate it so much. Lovely sentiments from a lovely lady whom I’m going to have the good fortune to meet later in the new year! Thank you for your kindness, rs.
Half-dozen roses.
I’m starting to get started for this evening. I’ve already begun to get all ready!
Took care of
coloringtrimming the goatee so that’s out of the way.I will say that I agree with Adam’s views about not hiring strong singers, or actor’s who can’t sing at all, to portray roles on screen that are normally associated with big voices on Broadway.
The prime example for me is the movie version of “Phantom of The Opera”. The stage role of the Phantom has been sung by these glorious, soaring voices. Yet, who did they cast in the movie? Gerard Butler?! Beautifully mounted film with wonderful production values completely ruined for me by Gerard Butler. What he did was not called singing IMHO.
Pierce Brosnan in “Mama Mia”
Love both Johnny Depp and especially Helena Bonham Carter but that’s not what I call singing from either one of them in Tim Burton’s “Sweeny Todd”.
I would even argue Madonna in “Evita”. Her interpretation of the songs was frequently very breathy and the score simply out of her range.
Last and least … and on a more lighthearted note … the beloved Lucille Ball in “Mame”. “I Love Lucy” but … what was that?! She sounded as though she’d gargled with razor blades! She should have had a professional singer sing along with and over the top of her vocals and then combined the two voices. That’s what was done for Rosalind Russell in “Gypsy”. She pointed out in her autobiography and would argue to anyone who would listen, “That was my voice you heard in “Gypsy”. I sang every note of that score”. True but she left out the part where Lisa Kirk sang along with her … and to great effect.
Whether Adam should have expressed his thoughts about this on Twitter, I don’t know. I’m on the fence about that. But his point is valid and well taken.
Sorry, once again I seemed to offend people with a mere statement suggesting that we be kind as a whole.
Yes, bad things happen to good people. My sentiment was that if you throw out negativity, you generally receive negativity back.
Back to lurking.
P.S. Was not insinuating that any of you were being negative.
Happy NEW year!
HAS ANYBODY SEEN MY 2000TH TOAST?
I wanted it so bad. I’m excited about it. It’s good to feel belonged.
Now he is off to Vietnam for the Jan. 4th Hennessy concert with Aurea and a Korean singer. AL or eywflyer, could either one of you wonderful hosts be so kind as to update and correct the Upcoming Shows list? Because, Kiev is listed twice and I believe something else might be missing.
http://adamlambertevents.wordpress.com/
And, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THE ALLers!!! It has been so much fun to chat, read, meet in London and sF, gripe, whine, angst, discuss, laugh, laugh, laugh all year, and we have so many AFL concerts coming up to look forward to.
Hey Reese. You are right of course! I am adding you to the Wembley Wonders flight list on page 44. You never know, luval or I may hit the jackpot.
Adam doesn’t have to be “right” or “wrong” – he is just stating his opinion. The fact that many, many reviews of the movie agree with him kind of validates his opinion somewhat. Even lowly EW gave the move a C and wasn’t fond of the vocals and the way they were presented.
And, I don’t care how many awards people have – that doesn’t mean much anymore.
You can tell the quality of those who disagree by comparing the comments under THR’s article.
“Adam, you suck.” “Adam, you loser.” “I hate Adam Lambert.” All very intelligent, thoughtful dissertations about Adam’s opinion.
In journalism, there is a saying: No such thing as bad publicity.
Maybe he should trash a club, or commit felony assault, or release a sex tape or naked fotos……that seems to be the way to go…..
OMG and WOW!! You are the kindest and most thoughtful peeps out there. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the many lovely birthday messages (and gifts) sent my way. You seriously made me feel very special today.
We have been out of town for the New Years/birthday celebration — left home last Friday morning and will return late tomorrow. Right now I am on a hotel computer, so I can’t stay too long. However, I do want to wish everyone a healthy, safe, stress-free, and all around wonderful 2013. Things just keep getting betterer and betterer around here with our beautiful man.
Totally agree that Adam has a right to tweet his opinion. That’s a given.
But to compare his tweet to a reviewer misses the point that a reviewer’s whole function is to watch movies and state opinions; can’t avoid writing bad stuff, and that is the point of what they do.
For Adam, it is more gratuitous. He didn’t have to tweet anything at all about it, and it might have been better to keep these thoughts to himself or share with his friends and family.
But, y’know? I think he kind of thinks of us in that category and shared his opinion with us on that basis.
Gotta love him.
At the risk of being a repeat:
this is a great multicam video of the Queen 7/12 opening by FM4ever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-7WO-tpR9c
(nice way to ring in the new year!)
I don’t consider Adam’s comments on a musical and the performances in it as in any way gratuitous. He is a professional singer and he knows what Les Miserables can and should sound like. The director effectively disrespected the emotional core of the work by mis-casting a key role and forcing his actors to jump through the kind of hoops that even amazing singers might have trouble with.
I cannot believe that musical performers everywhere aren’t thinking the same and wishing that someone would just come out and say it. In that sense, his comments are utterly apropos.
@KradamourI agree with you…I have always felt that when Adam tweets he is having a conversation with us…He likes other people’s opinions and loves to talk…I think he will be really surprised that the media picked up on his comments…
Its getting really chilly over at the other place about Adams tweet about LesMiz, I tried a nice post, but its really going downhill fast, anything to dis on Adam, the Blog host is even in on it, because hes lonely in BAli, Lolol. It seems to me a show he liked, saw and had comments about it, no big deal, then everyone looks for anything to slam Adam, for some unknown reason. Same as DJs dont play Adam Lambert, UGUG just, well anyhow HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
I agree with loveroftalent. Adam probably didn’t expect this to go much beyond us, especially at this time of year. Actually, this doesn’t seem to be a big deal beyond a few blogs that focus on him or Idol.
LadyNorth, you’re welcome, and no, I don’t have salty licorice! I was not on the receiving end of any of that previously sent.
Reese, you didn’t offend anyone. I very much appreciate your New Year’s wishes. Please jump in and comment often!
This talk of the casting in Les Miz reminds me of the casting in My Fair Lady that my dad used to talk about often. (I’m way too young to remember those casting controversies!)
Julie Andrews played Eliza on stage but was not considered a big enough star to carry the movie. I adore Audrey Hepburn, and in this role, but her singing was dubbed with another’s voice. I can’t imagine that this classic movie musical would be the same if they had let Audrey do the singing.
nkd…That Aquarius prediction was amazing!!!
A couple more write ups on lesmiz-gate.

http://scallywagandvagabond.com/2012/12/her-majesty-adam-lambert-does-not-approve-of-anne-hathaways-performance-in-les-miserables/
It sure fits Adam’s situation right now.
Me too, nkd, but I somehow know all about it.
Boy, did Julie Andrews ever have the last laugh that year!
Warner Bros. would not cast her in the role she originated on Broadway. “Unknown” and “untried” were their words. The studio and director George Cukor wanted Audrey Hepburn. She didn’t want to take the part away from Andrews and flatly refused. Cukor persisted (and persisted!) telling her, “Someone has to play the part. I want it to be you”. Hepburn finally relented reasoning, if they’re absolutely not going to hire Julie Andrews, someone DOES have to play the part … why not me?
All of Hollywood resented Hepburn for stealing the role away from Andrews even though she turned the part down a dozen times.
Disney Studios was eager to cast “a new star” in their movie “Mary Poppins” and gave the title role to “unknown” and “untried” Julie Andrews.
Academy Award nominations for that year … no Best Actress nomination for the suddenly unpopular, “role stealer” Audrey Hepburn.
Julie Andrews is nominated for “Mary Poppins” … and wins!
She’s too much of a lady to have stuck her tongue out at Warner Bros. when accepting the Oscar but I would think somewhere deep inside that she wanted to.
That’s my Oscar lesson for the day.
Still getting ready for this evening.
I have a need to watch My Fair Lady and Mary Poppins now!
MFL on TCM tomorrow at 10:15 am CT!
BTW Ron, I love your ensemble for this evening from the pictures that you posted. Very dashing!
Of all the gossip articles that came out about Adam’s Les Miz tweets, I love this one from VH1. They love him and think that with his voice, he has every right to say what he did. Good for them!

Recent movie musical casting: Tom Cruise in “Rock of Ages,” and we can soon look forward to the non-soaring voice of, and non-emoting CU in the remake of “The Sound of Music.” Question: WHY does “The Sound of Music” need to be remade??????
Aol jumps in on lesmiz-gate

It doesn’t!
Interesting tweets:
This person vidioed the concert, and will load when he/she gets home late tomorrow.
LOL
Because PH apparently tweeted Adam’s comments to Jackman.
To everyone on this blog, posters and lurkers alike, I want to wish you all a very very Happy New Year. May 2013 bring Health and Joy and success to us, and especially to the reason we are all here, our favorite Glittery Alien, Adam F Lambert.
Thanks for this one-liner, turquoise. I am so ready to kick 2012 in the butt as I’m sure many of you are. I am hopeful for a better 2013 but somehow a little apprehensive. We’ll just have to wait and see.
So, with that said, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE. I love you guys.
My sentiments exactly!
Great response! Love him for that.
My Top 5 Albums of 2012 – Mark Gilroy
Almost ready …
Now that is class, Hugh Jackman. Love him
I tried to find nasty sarcasm in this statement but I couldn’t.
Another year end topper for Trespassing.
Best Music 2012: Adam Lambert’s ‘Trespassing’ Voted Year’s Best Album By Idolator Readers
I’d like to add my wishes for a happy, fulfilling, and fortuitous new year. May 2013 bring us much Adam, Queenbert, music and gatherings with our ALL friends! You all have enriched my life and enjoyment. I love you all.
Woweee, zoweeee! I am exhausted just trying to catch up!!!
The twitter rant is all over the net. Maybe even TMZ on TV. OMG. At least 25 web articles. Seven pages “over there.” Nobody gets her hits like an Adam controversy.
Here’s my post:
They got the biggest. They got the longest. Lucky bitches. Dammit.
Take a look at the biggest and longest set list:
http://adamlamberttv.blogspot.com/2012/12/adam-lambert-live-in-grand-ballroom.html
It certainly don’t need to be remade, especially with Carrie Underwood as Maria.
