December has arrived and that means that 2012 will soon be over. Adam has been “trespassing” all around the world lately and currently finds himself in China and will wrap up his 2012 with a New Years Eve concert in Bali. But before the year ends with a bang there is plenty to do on his home turf. He heads to NY for “Cyndi Lauper and Friends” and a TV appearance, then hops across country for a radio event and a little “Diva” hosting thang.
A lot of holiday cheer to look forward to!

Choosing a photo for the monthly threads is never easy. However, it’s his most recent look that is getting attention. Since it may not last long, I thought that most of you would enjoy the look from the Mnet Awards – fierce, defiant, always unpredictable Adam.

Enjoy the chat! Happy Holidays!

@adamlambert It’s what I’ve always said: Better to hire singers who can act than actors who may not be able to sing! #MammaMia

True…especially Pierce Brosnan, love him, but his singing was so bad in Mamma Mia it was funny…

I’m confused about the time in Bali. According to the World Clock posted above, it should be 11:44am ish there, but looking at the resort homepage with local time at the bottom, it shows it to be 10:44am.

I must have been bad this year, or put out some bad karma. Big Frown

ETA However, I did meet Adam this year, and saw him in concert 4 times, and got to meet up with some wonderful people! Heart

Re lesmiz-gate: when I read those tweets, I had a sinking feeling. Yes, Adam is totally entitled to say whatever he wants about any other person trying to sing, but these are honest-to-goodness A-listers who don’t need to be dissed by him.
Comes under the heading of “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all”.
Tweets that should have been slept on before sending.

I’m not sure Adam was dissing the actors so much as the Hollywood system in musical to movie productions.
He did call them great actors.

His comments will not be appreciated across the board, obviously, but maybe he felt he had to say it.
I think he loves a little controversy and the ensuing discussion. Adam will be Adam!

IMO, Les Miz would have the audience draw without the big names, and perhaps made some stars of some deserving actor/singers.

@BravoAndy: @adamlambert you are allowed to have a critical opinion of this or any movie don’t hedge! People are too sensitive

Whatever, he has no filter and never will. I have that in common with him. Gets me in trouble all the time. I think I am just being honest (not trying to be mean)and I have very thick skin so I don’t get why people get so bent out of shape. I just in the last few years figured it out (mid 30’s). He will too. It will never go away but he will finally learn to think first like I did.

  32. asifclueless says:

riskylady … Love Anthony Lane’s review!! LOL

-… I screamed a scream as time went by. Smile

-… Valjean (Hugh Jackman) serves nineteen years for stealing a loaf of bread: a punishment that he regards as unjust, though in fact it reflects well on the status of French baking. Had he taken a croissant, it would have meant the guillotine. ROTFL

-… There he is dimly recognized as a former convict by Javert (Russell Crowe), the local police inspector. These two cross paths for the rest of the film, with Javert in panting pursuit. Would it be too fanciful to suggest that they have a thing for each other, to which they never confess? That would explain why Crowe and Jackman, both tough Australians, are made to sing at so agonized a pitch.

    Laugh

  33. ultimathule says:

I agree Krad. Singing is subjective, not everyone likes the same vocalist. Plus with this movie vocals had to be adjusted to add in more acting than the stage musical. Here is a list of professional singing of the cast in Les Miz:
Hugh Jackman: Tony award winner for The Boy from Oz, played lead role in Oklahoma! in London’s West End. Has also won an Emmy Award.
Aaron Tveit: Played Fiyero in Wicked on Broadway; starred in Hairspray; originated the roles of Gabe in Next to Normal and Frank Abagnale Jr. in Catch Me If You Can on Broadway.
Samantha Barks: London West End star in Oliver, 25th Anniversary cast of Les Miz.
Eddie Redmayne: 2010 Tony Award for his performance in the West End and Broadway production of the drama play Red.
Amanda Seyfried: starred in Mamma Mia / she took voice lessons, studied opera, and trained with a Broadway coach while still a teen.
Daniel Huddlestone: played Gavroche in West End production
Isabelle Allen: (age 10)first film, did musical theatre at school
Anne Hathaway: 10 years vocal training, starred in high school musicals; her mother Kate Hathaway played Fantine in the first U.S. Tour of Les Mis.
Helena Bonham Carter: Sang in Sweeney Todd
Sacha Baron Cohen: sang in Sweeney Todd; passed singing audition in West End production of Les Miz at age 20 but could not dance well enough to get the part, will play Freddie Mercury in movie and will be singing the songs.
Russell Crowe – yeah weak vocals; punk rock band lead singer.
The film’s album is projected to be #1 on Billboard this week.

**What you put out, is what you receive**

I have always interpreted this in terms of social interactions, not as bad actions attracting bad luck.
While it certainly is worth striving to be the best you can be, I refuse to subscribe to this idea that if bad things happen to you, it is somehow your own fault. Well, occasionally it is, but most of the time you just got a rough deal, and then you certainly don’t need this double whammy of bad luck + guilt trip. So any of us who had a difficult 2012: full steam ahead into a hopefully better 2013.

  41. asifclueless says:

I’ve seen Les Miz and I’m going to see it again with a Les Miz virgin friend.

When I came out of the theatre I was pleased with the movie.
The cast was good especially Anne Hathaway, Samantha Barks, Aaron guy? (Enjoras), and the Gavrof kid.

I was disappointed in Russell Crowe and Helena and Sasha.
Crowe can be replaced with somebody like Phillip Quast(?).
Javert is an important role. Crowe killed my fav. number “Stars” (in a bad way of kill.)

Anyway I am happy that finally they made it a movie. I like it because I’m a fan of Les Miz. I have watched most the non-musical versions movies. The best one was by the French and filmed it at the real places the story took place in France. They dubbed it in English because the actors were French.

And last night I got to see Colm Wilkinson (the Bishop in the movie). He is the best Valjean on stage. I called my daughter to check and she spotted him right away. She has seen the movie twice already in Korea.

My daughter and I are big fans of Les Miz. We saw it twice at West End, London. Each time two years apart. We watched the DVD Les Miz concerts 10th and 25th Anniversaries numerous times. Good singing, no need acting. Just stood there and sang … OK danced little bit too to the Thanadiers’ numbers.

Like Adam said … Visually impressive w great Emotional performances.

The visual in the movie is great. It’s hard to do much on stage. The emotion … I cried my eyes out .. but that doesn’t say much. I cry a lot.

The singing overall not up to par that it should be; but I didn’t expect it to be.
Like Adam did it to me. When he sings his songs or covers others, I likes his versions the most and I won’t expect the others to be as good as his.
    We are spoiled by him.

Oh sorry!! Too Long and too late at night.

    Good Night ALL. Sleepy
