After a very eventful past month for Adam and his fans, December has arrived. Adam enjoyed quite a bit of publicity during November, including an epic performance with Queen at the EMAs, a Rolling Stone interview, a mentoring appearance on Majors & Minors, and his return to the AMA stage (unfortunately only as a presenter this time around). ~~Still no new music for us to enjoy with our holiday feasts, but all the signs currently point to the lead single from Adam’s new album being released in January.~~

Update 7 PM 12/14: as per Adam’s tweets today, “Better Than I Know Myself”, the lead single from his new album “Trespassing”, will be released on Tuesday, December 20th!

Melody sounds like the demo with lots of production. Hope you’re right, nkd, that the real song will sound better. I know I’m in the minority. But I guess the general public will like it. Seems radio friendly. Like Aftermath, I only liked it after I heard it in person. We’ll see.

Damn. Is there room in the corner for one more? Me, too. Just muddy and could be anybody’s voice.
I don’t even think it is all that radio friendly. No bounce, no dance. Certainly not anything new in terms of music. Def doesn’t live up to the hype. IMHO, of course. But I’m really, really disappointed. Especially if they think this is the best cut on the album, the one chosen for the first single.
Okay, gonna reserve judgement until I hear it all six days from now (unless someone leaks it before then, totally possible but I hope not, it should roll out the way Adam wants it.)

This song has been in my head since I heard the demo, and Adam’s voice on it can only improve things. I was not a fan of Aftermath and I don’t think it sounds like that at all.
I’m not sure that this was thought to be the best song on the album, but the safer choice for a first single. We’ll just have to wait for the album to decide that I suppose.

As an old Prince fan, I wanted more oomph and funk and beat, or: something really weird and different. But I don’t completely dislike it either. Gotta sleep over this a couple of times, then see how the full version sits with me. Meanwhile I will stare at the cover art. FYE peaked at #61 on the Billboard Hot 100. It did reach #5 on the “Hot Dance Club Songs” chart.

ETA: Believe me, I am hoping for a huge hit, and not having heard any version of the song I probably shouldn’t be saying anything at all at this point. I was just a bit surprised at the somewhat mixed reactions from those of y’all who have listened to the snippet.

I’m withholding judgement on the snippet. It sounds over-produced and mushy, unclear. Hoping the actual sound will be better. I just want a sterling clear vocal to come through.

Wow, I just heard the snippet, it sounds good and I can’t wait to hear the whole song. I am looking forward to Adam singing this live. Kudos to Lee Cherry, he did an amazing job on that cover and I absolutely love it.

Wow, I just heard the snippet, it sounds good and I can't wait to hear the whole song. I am looking forward to Adam singing this live. Kudos to Lee Cherry, he did an amazing job on that cover and I absolutely love it.
