Fantastic!! I really enjoy Sally’s articles. She always does an awesome job and is a talented writer. She did excellent work here with accurate facts (props to her impressive research) & she broke everything down perfectly. Gave very respectful homage & praise to both singers.
I have been wondering when someone was going to finally take this complicated & rather delicate Freddie/Adam voice analysis/comparison breakdown task head on… and leave it to Sally to make it look like a shot in the breeze … in her entertaining & engaging way.
Personally, I’ve been profoundly fascinated with Adam’s voice ever since hearing it for the first time…. all the in’s & out’s of it – the smallest detail I could hear & analyze, read about and find. Ironically, Freddie Mercury has also been a voice of study for me – even before Adam came along in my world.
I’ve listened for hundreds of hours to them both… analyzing, dissecting, studying each closely – taking all in every facet of vocal resonance (particularly Adam’s, in more recent years). Studying voice is one of the most enjoyable things I like to do… and Adam’s is such fun as his is one of the choicest creams of the crop.
So… I must say, this article is of particular delight for me! Thank you, asif.

Yes, I can’t imagine a better beginning to my birthday except if we had audio and visual treats. Well, I am happy with what I can get.
Thank you for posting the Wilkes Barre gif. I was there that night with many of you and we knew it was going to be extra special. Adam had just been told that Trespassing was #1BB. He was so happy and beautiful and sexy and everything you could have wanted. For those of you who don’t know Wilkes Barre is a special concert venue. It is a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. This means that Adam and his band stays in the same hotel as the fans. What a special feeling to know that you could easily trip over Adam in the lobby or get on the same elevator.
After the concert that night we waited for Adam to come out and sign. He did and it was glorious. I will always remember him surrounded by a group of young teens and them giving him a group hug. It was absolutely adorable and he took it with such good humor. He controlled the crazy crowd all by himself. No security in sight. After he was done signing he strode across the street into “our” hotel. A few of us discreetly following behind.
It was so wonderful to be part of what I’m sure was one of the most memorial days of his career at that point.
BTW, this livestream is amazing. Anyone who can stay up and listen is in for a real treat.

Adamized summed up Wilkes Barre perfectly.
Adam apparently told the security to stay away and let him handle things, because they were there but on the other side of the street at a considerable distance. He was masterful at the crowd control! Very in charge, like nothing so much as an affectionate but firm school teacher keeping order in the hall between classes and ensuring that everyone had an opportunity to be near him and get an autograph or a hug.
ETA: if anyone is interested, I was sitting with Adamized in the front row of the balcony at Wilkes Barre and made a craptastic video of the whole concert and posted it to youtube (search Kradamour). There are WAY better vids (and, ahem, gifs…) of individual songs – the TALC ladies were there – but individual song vids often leave out the little bits of talk or movement between songs and I wanted to preserve everything.
I posted this on the Sydney thread but since everything started here….it’s here too.
Happy Birthday (on time ) adamized !! What a great start to your day from half way around the world! All best wishes for a great day and the best year ever!. (The Duke and I remember Wilkes Barre so well too. Such a great night and we were so close to Adam after the show) and the most wonderful people we met!!!!!! And the Duke’s tie! OOOOHHH!)
