This is a “book” about Instagram current incompatibilities so if you are having no problem viewing Instagrams or Vines in your browser right now – just move along past this post. But if you are having issues viewing these types of media, the following may help you. Caution – I have not actually tried this temp fix because Instagrams work for me – I have just located this temp fix info by googling the issue.
Apparently instagram recently did an upgrade so people can import saved videos now, instead of just realtime posting of videos. This upgrade just happened in early August and the problems started being reported about a week ago. I am using a new laptop (a few months ago) with Windows 8 and google chrome browser and I have no problem viewing instagram and vine pics and videos. But apparently some people are having issues.
Some people are saying it is related to Adobe Flash Player’s hardware acceleration feature causing conflict in browser and there is a temporary fix for this. But before doing the temporary fix thing, I guess I would first make sure you have the most current version of Adobe Flash, just in case that update on your computer is behind the Instagram update.
But if you want to try the temporary fix, within google chrome browser, Enter “Chrome:flags” in the address bar. On the page that comes up, find an entry that says “Disable hardware-accelerated video decode.”
Click “Enable” button.
Please note that the Chrome:flags area is a long page and takes awhile to find “Disable hardware-accelerated video decode”. A faster way to find it is to press the Control key and F (for Find) key on your keyboard at the same time and then when the window comes up, type in accelerated and arrow down through the times that word shows up on that page. BTW, if you are not already aware of the Control F keyboard function, it is a big time saver for searching a particular webpage.
But since this is a recent Instagram update issue, it is possible that if you just wait a week or so, everything on your computer will get caught up. It depends on whether you have updates set to happen automatically or whether you have them set to just notify you and you have to specifically elect to do the update. Certain updates, like Adobe Flash and Java, IMO may be better to have set to be notified and then rather than clicking on that notification, specifically go to the Adobe.com website or Oracle/java website to download the updates (uncheck any boxes that download extra toolbars etc).
The reason I say this about Adobe Flash and Java is that there are some known trojans that masquerade as Adobe Flash updates so when you click on the notification to do the update, it could actually be downloading a lot of stuff that you do not want and not an Adobe Flash update. The trojan hijacks your browser home page, tracks your internet activity, and makes use of it unstable and therefore slow.
Java is just inherently hackable (poor security controls) and prone to delivering trojans to your computer, so I actually have it disabled in all of my browsers and only enable it specifically for something that I can’t view without Java (rarely need it for things that I routinely do). And I make sure my Java is always the most current version,since the programmers at Oracle keep trying to close their software holes. But again, I do not ever click on Java update notifications, but rather I specifically go to Oracle/Java for the update download.
I have removed 3 such trojans in recent months on the computer of my husband, my son, and my father-in-law. Two of these trojans were embedded in the Java program files and one came in with an false adobe flash update notification. These experiences have self-taught me about these security concerns related to Flash and Java. We use one of the strongest antivirus software (Kaspersky)and Father-in-law has Norton, but these trojans still happen, because you are specifically clicking to give permission to your antivirus software to go ahead and do the Flash or Java update when you click on the update notification. Right after you download such trojans, your antivirus software finds the malware, but can’t remove it. So far, for me, System Restore to an earlier point in time has worked for me to eliminate these trojan issues when this happens.
BTW, similar Instagram compatibility issues are being reported for Firefox browser, but the instructions on how to do temp fix are different – just google it – or just wait – everything will probably get back in compatibility in a week or two once either Instagram or Firefox or Flash gets caught up with their compatibility issues, because users report the bugs like this and eventually they fix and do updates.
Not sure if posting the above computer stuff is inappropriate, particularly since it is so long. I am just trying to help people to view our boy in all his glory!
My probs with instagram pics (videos) is with them not opening in
browser Internet explorer. They work fine in Chrome or
Mozilla Firefox. So suggestion is try another browser. They
are free and just take a few minutes to download. This is
true with anything but apple products. I have a imac laptop
but only use it when traveling so don’t know too much about
it.

Thanks jlurksacto. I downloaded Chrome and now have no problems with viewing anything.My facebook page also kept locking up while using explorer and that seems to have been solved as well.

I am a bit out of things that’s been happening here – had to catch a lot of pages that I missed during past couple of weeks. I needed something to happen in my “love” life and put a profile on an internet dating site. That is so time-consuming and also driving me nuts (alongside that my back cracked badly
) but girl has to do something if she doesn’t like to go to clubs or doesn’t have friends who know single guys 
I guess I give up soon, but at least I’ve tried… What comes to Adam’s love life, I am very neutral about the guys he hangs around with, whatever they are (dates, mates, pals etc). mils, your list rant was again a nice thing to read 
I understand a concern of some, and I am not offended at all if people express opinions about people he is seen with, but personally (in the middle of a slightly wild experimenting period of my life) I think Adam can handle his human interactions, so I am not worried. Which doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be happy if I saw him in a loving relationship again

OMG aely! That’s why Sauli left before the end of August. Here in Canada we had a Dancing on Ice show using hockey players and champion figure skaters. It included a lot of lifting and was actually quite dangerous. I couldn’t watch it after a while.
It ended after two seasons – the winners of the first season divorced their spouses and married each other! Bad publicity. (Plus the husband of the figure skater was their coach –
)

Just wanted to clarify TLKC‘s comment on our skating show Battle of the Blades. It was actually hugely popular – some of the highest ratings on TV – and was not cancelled but put on ice (hehe) after three seasons because of budget issues.
It will be back again this fall season. Works more or less the same as AI – there are 2 regular judges (skaters) and a weekly guest judge (also someone involved with skating, could be a commentator); watchers vote for 2 hours after the episode. If you are a hockey or figure skating fan it is really fun to watch – especially to see the hockey players learn some of the more complicated figure skating steps.
AL related – Kurt Browning (World Champion) is one of the emcees and he has skated to Adam’s Feelin Good.
I will be an avid fan again, as it is a pretty neat reality show.

Arjan Writes used to write glowing reviews of Adam’s music. Haven’t heard much of him lately.
I recently returned from my latest summer trip, camping and hiking in the mountains in northern California with my husband. Nothing cleanses my soul better than the combination of strenuous exercise and gorgeous mountain scenery. I’ve been trying to catch up on all things Adam. I’m happy to see that the musical collaboration and love fest between Nile Rodgers and Adam is continuing. But as a big Glee fan, I am most excited about Adam’s role in Glee. The details about his role are leaking painfully slowly, but I really like what I hear. He was so funny as a prima donna in the Vh1 Diva sketches. I think he’ll be marvelous in NYC playing Kurt’s nemesis. So when is Adam’s first episode on Glee? Apparently, to my knowledge, that’s still a state secret. Another plus that I’m looking forward to is that all of Adam’s Glee recordings will be available on I-tunes each week. My car and I will be very happy.
It seems like I’m alone here .. talking to myself.
Anyway … I’ll talk to myself and then I’ll go get busy with my RL.
A week ago I took a little break from the internet after hosting a string of house guests. And now I’m getting the house ready for my daughter. She is coming back from South Africa. We will be busy catching up and figuring out what she’ll do with her next chapter of her life. She finished her job in Korea and has travelled for 3 months. Now she’ll be looking for a job because it’s quite late now to go back to school for her Masters’.
Right now she’s not sure what to do. I’ll be with her through this uncertain time. That means I’ll have less time here. But I’ll lurk and post as much as I can.
