As July ends the “Trespassing” touring era now seems to be over with the last show at Paso Robles. But work continues as Adam is to be part of the Glee cast and also is guesting on Avicii’s new single “Lay Me Down”. It may be quiet on the touring front but there are always surprises. When it comes to Adam, expect the unexpected! Photo from Alikat1323 Smugmug.

I follow Eli on twitter and he seems like a nice down to earth honest person. Adam likes him and wants to spend time with him so he must be a good guy. He has never asked or insinuated anything about Adam or their relationship which I think speaks volumes.

I do think Nile got a boost, for himself, from working with Adam but he didn’t get any recognition from Shady since it was not released. He has his own legendary name which is way more powerful than Adam and I believe, he is doing everything he can to help Adam and his career, not the other way around.

Did anyone see Gaga’s “burqa” vid? Running out of ways to be transgressive, I guess.

  3. Kradamour says:

I know Nile says he never stopped recording or playing or producing but to me it was the Sam Sparro tweet & Shady that re-started Nile’s career or comeback again.

Exactly. When I was in NY with mmm222 and adamized and nekkid at the performance, there was such a disconnect between his performance with Adam and the rest of the evening. The Adam/Sam/Nile collab was current and fun … the rest of the evening revisited his old music.
There was a yawning chasm in the middle.

Am bringing this over from the previous page. It’s about 30 minutes long. I started listening and couldn’t turn it off. Mostly talking about Adam and his career. The one woman talking could be one of us! Not sure where it originates from. (the top pod cast).

  6. ultimathule says:

Those gifs are wonderful, nkd – his face is just so expressive.

  7. ultimathule says:

Hey, luval – you got me hooked on those podcasts – listening as I’m posting this. And yes – who is that gal (Brenda?) – definitely a Glambert – maybe not in name, but certainly in spirit.

  8. ultimathule says:

Whooo – guy talking about a whole town power-texting for Kris.

  9. milwlovesadam says:

luval, I just listened to that podcast. And, yes, that one gal does sound like one of us!! Although the info they have is oldish.

I have listened to everything Nile has done lately, every interview posted here and other sites, and while he is generously mentioning Adam, he never refers to Shady specifically. It kinda bothers me.

He could also mention the WAF gala and their performance there. I understand that he is moving forward, but, he could mention their prior relationship just once.

And, maybe one of the special surprises at AFTEE will be Sam Sparro.

  10. milwlovesadam says:

I really liked what that guy on the podcast was saying about Adam. He could be one of us too! Especially about the collaborations.

  11. Calgary says:

Wow, I go make dinner and you guys go crazy!Haven’t caught up yet, but I just HAVE to say this – I love Nile and most everything he has done, but I hate Get Lucky! Thanks! I feel better!

  12. ultimathule says:

Yes, mils – how it’s better for Adam to do these collabs with different types of musicians rather than just drop an album – get known by a varied audience first.

  13. riskylady says:

Well, from the get go, when Adam was in the studio with Nile he blogged about it, tweeted video snippets, etc. these were retweeted to infinity and beyond by all of Adam’s fans, featured in blogs, etc. by the time Trespassing was released I can safely say most of Adam’s over 1 million followers at the time knew who Nile was. Some bought his book and many, many started following him.

I HAD NEVER HEARD OF NILE RODGERS BEFORE THAT. I did know of Chic, and remembered some of their hits like “Everybody Dance,” “Freak Out,” etc. but do most average listeners, especially from when radio was the main source of music, know names of behind the scenes producers, etc.? Complete surprise to me that he had anything to do with Bowie, Madonna, et al, and I’ve been a music aficionado since 1950, worked as a DJ on Armed Forces radio in the Philippines, collected jazz records since I was 13, worked two summers running a record shop during college in the Fifties. J/s. And don’t get me wrong, I love Nile and think he is completely giving back to Adam in spades because he is that rare good guy.

Of course, folks in the music biz knew him, but he was pretty much working under the radar and doing smallish live appearances in Europe back in early 2012 cause I used to watch the YouTubes. Thank goodness for this renaissance!

  14. ultimathule says:

Agree, Calgary – GL’s OK, but never found it particularly interesting and, though have it, don’t ever play it. But it was Daft Punk – so it gets played on radio. Like Billboard said – “in a fairer pop universe . . . .” So true.

  15. ultimathule says:

I bought his book, too, riskylady.

  16. milwlovesadam says:

Oh, I do love all the back and forth, here. We all come from such different backgrounds, and from all over the world.

I do remember Nile Rogers as a legend in the music biz. His name would pop up often, especially in Rolling Stone, I don’t remember where or when, but, he was often in “best of” listings, and named, or referred to in interviews of other artists, as someone who influenced them.

I guess I came of age in the disco era, and actually liked most of the music, it was happy and everybody danced danced danced. It was before AIDS, before herpes, before things got scary. It was after Vietnam, and people were feeling in a better place. I remember Chic soooo well. Le Freak baby!!

Knowing that he was involved with so many massive stars, his influence in the industry is quite impressive. AS soon as we knew he was working with Nile, I was literally covered in goosebumps at the potential.

And then just gobsmacked that Shady wasn’t THE single put out.

I just hope they get to perform it at the AFTEE show. It is hands down so much better than anything than Timberlake put out this year.

I like Get Lucky. But, Blurred Lines is an earworm stuck in my head. I just love it.

  17. riskylady says:

Kinda bothers me too that Nile never mentions Shady, which would explain his original link to Adam, but… Maybe Adam doesn’t want him to? Wants to push the Avicii song over the RCA record and their disappointing lack of foresight?

  18. luval says:

    Love the discussions here.

  19. milwlovesadam says:

We have mentioned here and there so many times, that Adam is like a throw-back to another era. Listening to Nile talk is like listening to Adam in so many ways. He uses similar expressions, especially about music being organic, and expresses himself so well. He’s older than Adam’s parents, and has been around for decades in the biz. And he and Adam just jibe together so well. Love it.

  20. riskylady says:

Must confess, I rarely listen to music Adam tweets, but I did like “Hot Damn” by Ivy Levan and “Made to Love” by John Legend (like him anyway as a real singer).

  21. riskylady says:

Agree, mils, I think they are musical soulmates. Hoping Nile is writing something for Adam to include on his own new album – sounded like it, he mentions he will have lots of collabs.

  22. milwlovesadam says:

Agree risky. Some of the music Adam tweets is just too much for me. It’s interesting, but often I don’t care it. However, those two are very very good to my likes. John Legend is incredible.

  23. aely says:

I knew who Nile was before he worked with Adam. Always heard about him being a legend. I always thought and still do Brian May is better…..hee….Nile is fantastic and actually he has a much broader reach and therefore is better for Adam and his career.

Nile always says he has worked with Adam on his last album but Shady wasn’t released so most people would not know anything about it. It is more important that he TALKS about Adam and their work together than the specific song. That makes Adam “seem” (insert eyeroll) more important and worthy. People are talking and he is on Avicii’s album because of Nile not RCA or anything else. It is all pretty interesting and I do love seeing everyone opinions.

Anyone notice Target is using Under Pressure and Another One Bites the Dust in their new ads? Funny…..

  24. milwlovesadam says:

Yup, I’ve heard those Target ads.

But, the ads, ( off topic ) that make me laugh hard right now are pretty juvenile and obnoxious. They are the Hump Day camel, and the KMart Ship my pants ones.

Today was hump day. Wednesday. You could hear people saying “Hummmpp Daaay” all up and down the halls today. They were talking about it on Elvis Duran this morning before work, and , true enough, at work too. Razz

But, the “ship my pants” one is just ridiculously funny. IMHO

  25. milwlovesadam says:

Post Ho out. It’s been fun tonight. Thanks.

  26. riskylady says:

aely, WHAT? WHAT?!?!? Of COURSE Brian May is better, plus he now has added value of a completely new and modern body part! Just kidding, apple orchard vs. solitary orange tree lolol. No, really – isn’t it wonderful that both legends in completely different genres have embraced Adam and he can convincingly perform with both?

  27. aely says:

On the podcast, I really find Kerry Kolsch hard to take seriously. I believe she loves Adam and has his best interests at heart but she is exhausting. I think she hurts him in some ways because she always thinks and comments on EVERY article how he is held back and everyone who doesn’t like him or his music is homophobic. My goodness, she even wrote a BOOK about the “cheating” by Chick Fil A and Kris Allen. It is just to over the top for me. Actually, it might just be fascinating to talk to her. Anyone know more than that or can tell me differently?

where is that video footage from??

  36. turquoisewaters says:

for whatever it’s worth: they came together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y3QEivuAq4 , they left together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbaXLpJNmuc . And that’s about it.

  37. TLKC says:

WOW – lots of stuff over the last 24 hours. First of all thanks to ulti for that Glee New York fan YouTube video which pretty much brings Glee Season 4 NYC storyline up-to-date. Great for someone who doesn’t have time to watch the whole season. I got goosebumps for Rachel and Kurt just watching it.

RE: Nile and Adam and Shady. Adam is probably not in the least bit interested in promoting ANY of his songs on the RCA label. He will sing them in concert but promote them? No. Nile is probably fully on-line with this.

As aely and mils say, Nile provides an amazing amount of credibility for Adam with key industry people and some very snotty music fans. Adam has cultivated a lot of people in the business and and those associations are gradually paying off. JMO but if someone who gives him a leg up benefits from it, no biggie.

FYI – the mystery guest on Auguest 19th might be Sting, who is very close to Nile also. Another interesting connection for Adam to make. Sting’s taste in music is very eclectic. Don’t ask me how I remember this but when Ricky Martin performed La Vida Loca on an awards show for the first time, Sting was among those to lead a standing ovation. Here’s hoping he has heard and liked Adam’s Bob Marley. Boy George certainly did.

Is he wearing a skirt/kilt/pants combo thing?

  39. TLKC says:

RE: scandal attached to Adam having a new boyfriend. My comments on the subject were related to “squeaky clean” reference, which I found particularly funny coming from mils, because, lets face it, if Adam cleaned up his act, mils would be bored stiff.

Though recognizing the selfless of mils wishes, I have to demure. As risky lady has noted, Glee has it’s own set of obsessives, shippers and fan warriors and they are by no means faint of heart. Darren Criss’s girlfriend and Chris Colfer’s boyfriend have inherited the same names as Sauli on twitter: whore, slutty, skanky, hanger-on, ugly etc. These mirror the things that One Direction fans have said about Taylor Swift, as well.

Whatever the fandom, the scum settles on the bottom and engages each other. The newbies trot in and settle with the happy ones.

Also, the cat is already out-of-the bag on this one for Adam, since Adommy Crays are in a full tilt hate-on for Glee. Starting yesterday, Chris Colfer is already in their gun sights:

    TWITTER IDIOT #1 – 11h
Oh and don’t pull shit like Adam falls in love with his nemesis in the end. I will fucking castrate the person who wrote that shit.

In this context, a boyfriend for Adam would actually deflect a lot of their anger. Not that I wish that job on anyone.

  40. TLKC says:

Some kind of diagonal apron thingy. It looks like something he should trot out in full fashion mode, rather than a casual Wednesday evening. It would be fascinating to watch him choose his clothes before he goes out. Bet he’s the type to try half a dozen things on before he leaves the house.

Maybe we will get an inside shot without the jacket – or without the T-shirt Laugh

  50. sparkle says:

aely– Loved the facial hair/no facial hair side by side pics you posted last night! Is it just me or does the facial hair make someone focus more on his beautiful eyes? Maybe it’s because my brain is telling me to avoid looking at the facial hair, Lol! BTW, I think he looks great both ways but my preference is no facial hair.
