Well guys it’s time for our August Chat thread. Here is one of my favorite pictures from St. Agathe. Another month with a major event. VH-1 is kickstarting the revamp of their fantastic series Behind The Music featuring Adam. Will everybody be watching on Sunday night???

    Woke up this morning and read most of the posts and it’s funny mils I started a post last night with gay gay gay gay then deleted it. The last 10 minutes were the best with all the statistics. Love “sold out arenas” all over the world. I guess you could call Trabendo in Paris an arena if you take that word literally. To me it was a rehash of THS with a few new clips.

    But I do understand people that might not have know he was gay LOL or didn’t know the background of Adam’s career although again they left or sooo much…wicked’ cruise ship etc etc. But I wanted to hear more about the voice and charities. Adam approved this show so whataya gonna do?

    And I agree that the big thing right now is that second album. He must have a killer first single. IMO this special won’t really generate more fans unless he does. Yes, mils I think you said something about international. That’s where his fan base will be. Guess we’ll never move on about gay. Don’t understand this. Oh well.

    Morning peeps. I went over to MJs to see what the reaction there was to the BTM showing. Pretty positive though of course there were a few folks upset that Adam got this when in their eyes he is a nobody. Good points being made that BTM is a show focusing on what makes an artist struggle. Additions, abuse, being different….. So, for those of us who wish the Gay focus would lessen that is not to be for shows like BTM. OTH Adam seemed to support it so who are we to argue?

    Can’t wait for the new album. Getting closer!

    The programme is called BEHIND the music, so I think we knew it wasn’t going to focus much on the actual music and new album etc. Its supposed to be about how the artist gets to where they are, the struggles they face etc and Adams sexuality is a major part of that. Yes it would have been nice to have less focus on the gay part, but I suppose this isn’t really aimed at us fans who know everything there is to know about him, but to non fans and casual viewers. And for that demographic I thought it was really well done, it was very positive, he looked stunning, was very articulate, and it was far less sensationalised then ETHS was.I hope he’s gain some new fans from it, even better if FYE gets a little bump.

    Adamized and hkfan..makes sense when you describe the “purpose” of this show but I don’t think the general public sees it this way. Obviously I didn’t. Seems like just another bio and all we got was…all we got. I’ll try and move on.

    This is exactly who the VH1 show was for last night:

    I watched the show last night. I learned a lot of new things since I am outside the Adam Lambert fanbase/bubble. It was really interesting. I can see why they choose to do a segment on him he really is an interesting character. From what I understand VH1 is going to do more relevant artists like him instead of going to the retirement village and digging out the old relics.

    In the interview Adam came off as articulate and very free spirited. He is a club kid and has lived a very unsheltered lifestyle. I think that free spirit is what has allowed him to be so creative and have such a successful tour. After seeing some of this footage I now wish I had gone to the tour. The size of the audience and the cheering was wild. Good for him. Which concert was that? Was that in the U.S.?

    Getting a show like that and the cover of the Rolling Stone etc amaze how quickly out of the gate he took off.

    Congrats to Adam and his fans. Well deserved.

    Really good to see Adam on my big screen. I just want to see and listen to him so it was a win for me. I did see some new pictures I had never seen before. Someone commented on Neil not being on there===wasn’t it filmed when he was in Asia?

    BTW, whenever I see that YeahRight person I’m preparing for the worst. This is something I could never get, why talk about person that you dislike so much?? Why even bother to read thread about such a person? *shrugs*

Love how serious Adam is about answering some of the hard questions…these clips really show off his reflective side, but with such charmingly arch humor interspersed. Makes me realize how much I would enjoy just sitting and spending an evening in thoughtful discussion with Adam.

    Didn’t see anything wrong with your asking for the EW mag, Oksana. Thought it was funny and put the troll on the defensive. Think MJ went overboard in the deletions, but it’s her blog – can’t argue with that. Anyhow, was waiting for the phony’s reply and now disappointed – waah.

    (Think I’ve got just about every mag Adam was in – including overseas.)

    ultimathule, I also have almost every mag with Adam, but this particular copy of EW seems to be the very first mag cover he got.Almost collector item.

    So, Neil was in Asia when they filmed BTM. That explains it. I don’t know why, but I like him. He’s so contrary. A bad boy in his own way. Having met him twice, the second time was much better. But, he still got snarky after a while!!

    Mils, whats funny is Neil was very nice to me both times I saw him. He even remembered me and stopped to talk to me while I was waiting in line for the second M&G. I used the old Grandma technique and it worked. Sometimes it’s good to be over 29.

    Every once in a while I go to ebay and see what Adam items are being peddled. I was amazed by the number of signed photos that were obviously signed at the barricades with his scrawly signature, not his good one. No wonder he gets annoyed!

    Neil was EVIL in Paris. That was probably at least part of the reason that peeps were so ugly to him when he deleted the M&G photos. After threatening constantly to take cameras of peeps who tried to take their own photos and cutting off each M&G after literally 20 seconds…he was so unpleasant, when I was standing next to Adam I could actually feel the tension in his body when Neil was being particularly obnoxious to a fan. It went way beyond snarky. There was just no excuse for it. Frown

    That’s too bad about your M&G Neil. He was snarky in Rockford, but very nice in Hawaii. Go figure. He remembered both me and goatie in Hawaii. He even smiled and chatted with us. Who knows. Maybe he got laid. Whatever.

    Anyway, I just watched BTM a second time. I agree with you luval, it was waaaay better the second time. I do like how they used so many beautiful images of him. And dipped into the GN DVD generously. And, they did their research.

    Ahem. Did anybody enjoy the picture of shirtless freckly curly blond haired pouty mouthed soulful eyed HAIR in Germany Adam as much as I did??

    Tata ya’all. I’m off for a week vacay with hubby and the boys.It’s called the Cape Cod of the midwest. Door County. Absolutely gorgeous. I’ll need a full recap of all of Adam’s doings when I get back. Is there anybody here that’s up to the job? You know. Somebody with a keen eye? A sense of humor? A good attention to detail? Hmmm. Anybody? ……Beuler?…..

    I watched the BTM episode on YouTube earlier today, but am just now getting a chance to post. I thought that it was well done. Adam looked beautiful and was very thoughtful and articulate. Giving us super fans new info about new music is not the target of a show like this. The goal of these episodes is to trace an artist’s interesting backstory– their struggles that made them the artist they are today. And growing up gay, struggling to find his identity, and then coming of age and finding his expression and his liberation is a major part of Adam’s backstory. And I thought that there was lots of good focus on his talent, his message, his journey, and his essential nature.

    I was surprised, though, that they left out any reference to Wicked and the deadend that he eventually found himself in there — and the “is this all there is?” thoughts he was having — because that was when he decided to try out for Idol. I also thought that we would hear more about the dark period that he went through in his mid-twenties.

    But all in all, I thought it was well done, and I found the story arc interesting and inspiring — that brought him from talented but awkward, closeted, and repressed teen to the glamorous, confident, proudly out, wildly expressive, and uber talented artist that he is now, and all of the bumps and experiences along the way that made him who he is.

    cwm, I loved your post. I haven’t watched all of the BTM yet, but from what I have seen, I totally agree. It is interesting that a couple of posters whose initial impression was very negative re-watched and then changed their initial reaction to one that was positive. I think that is probably a function of an uberfan’s (that would be us!) expectations and hopes for the program, which probably weren’t realistic. As you say, it wasn’t directed to us.
    Very odd about Wicked.
    But I love the timing of the program as part of the leadup to the sophomore album – it gets Adam out there on TV doing something other than going to a party! and he is always his best self in an interview –

    Adam looked beautiful and was very thoughtful and articulate.

    Yup, that’s our boy!

    I just scanned ebay, as I do from time to time, to see what adamphernalia has been added to the offerings. Some pretty creative things! I really like the various shower curtains and the sleep mask with a photo of Adam sleeping. I DON’T like that the photos are pirated by foreign companies to make these things, though. Would bet the farm that Lee Cherry (among others) doesn’t see any royalties for the use of his professional photos.
    I am more understanding about fan peeps who make things creatively using the photos, but there are very few of them now. Used to be more. Frown

    Admission to the afterparty is only $100. If Adam will be there, predict a sellout!

    His award is Equality Idol. Does that mean that it only goes to an Idol? or is the title changed each year? Before Adam, I had no idea that so many awards, ceremonies, etc. existed!

    Was in a store to buy some pens yesterday, and saw that Sharpies now come in a special limited edition “80’s Glam” package. Too funny!
    I wonder how much impact Adam had on this throwback to glam, or whether it was just serendipity?

He writes about their time in NYC, including the McQueen exhibit (they didn’t have to wait in the line LOL; I also chuckled at his vague reference to “Many well-known people are fans of McQueen’s creations…”) and seeing Sleep No More.
