Well guys it’s time for our August Chat thread. Here is one of my favorite pictures from St. Agathe. Another month with a major event. VH-1 is kickstarting the revamp of their fantastic series Behind The Music featuring Adam. Will everybody be watching on Sunday night???

    Ok, he’s done. Summary:

    – Single in about 8 weeks
    – Nov 4 album release date is a rumor
    – release date is not set “It has to be perfect for all of you, so I’m taking my time. Smile”
    – album cover photo shoot not done yet (courtesy of yours truly Smile Woot!)
    – sample lyric: “one day I was trippin, that’s when I could see, that the ether that I tapped into could be reality”
    – themes: his real life. Highs, lows, ins, outs. Fun stuff, crazy stuff, dark stuff. “real shit. real life.”
    – no rapping
    – 12 songs, deluxe version with more
    – he’s learned a lot about himself and about writing in the process of creating the album

    I, for one, can hardly wait.

    Oh and he slipped in a much-needed slapdown to the adommy crays: “haha omg let it go already!! Always been FRIENDS.”

    Nkd, can you believe I have never seen the vid you posted? I certainly can’t. Must say I was totally mezmerized. Love it and now it is among my favorites. Thank you.

    This is a little bit long, but thought it worth posting – from lambosessed’s site:

    My attempt at retiring from video editing didn’t last long. The lure of fresh new material from the debut of Outlaws of Love was just too tempting to resist.
    The gentle guitar introduction leads to the opening note that reminds me so much of CLYG. It seems that there are many screamers in the audience who can’t handle the excitement to the vexation of everyone else trying to shush them. When I hear Adam sing, everything else falls away. I guess this is what he meant by bringing the focus back to the voice and I adore it. It’s the closest I’ve heard to an a capella, and his soothing, mellifluous voice is painfully, achingly, agonisingly beautiful. The pretty melody is fairly simple, the range not too challenging, no vocal acrobatics, it’s all about the emotions evoked by that voice in a song written for that voice. Even without understanding the lyrics, we can feel it’s a haunting lament about an enduring sadness, energy and hope slowly draining away, which is so heartbreaking to listen to. It’s sung so smoothly and flawlessly with breathtaking trills effortlessly eased into that floating voice, topped off by a heart-stopping crescendo with grit providing the necessary light and shade. I must admit I have a bit of a fixation with the rich hoarseness of that final “hell”. Stunning.

    I suspect that the arrangement for this is much sparser than what the studio version will be, but I hope the vocals will still be central with nothing detracting from it. I like the idea of having an acoustic rather than an electronic production, perhaps with just a piano or even harp as accompaniment. Whichever way, I’m looking forward to seeing how Adam changes it up. Perhaps one thing I’d tweak is the bridge. It reminds me of Broken Open but I think the transition into it could flow a little better. I’m rather excited by video possibilities for this song, which feels quite cinematic. Ronnie and Clyde outlaws on a road trip. Wearing Burning Man costumes.

    And then:

    Note to Screamflailberters: For the benefit of all concerned, STFU when adam sings please. Sh*t your pants, die, explode, whatever, AFTER he has indicated he has finished the song. Thankyouverymuch. I spent f*cking ages trying to clean up after your mess and there isn’t just just some f*cking program I run this through to magically get rid of every unwanted noise. It involves manually pinpointing the set of frequencies of every single f*cking noise for zapping. This means having to listen to every single f*cking one of your painful wince-inducing sounds over and over, making sure Adam’s voice doesn’t become too distorted and the removal isn’t too jarring. It’s no wonder I want to retire after each edit, especially when cleaning the sound takes longer than the video. It drives me insane. Rant over.

It was really late last night (for non-west coasters especially) — he started the party at about 12:30am PST and finished somewhere around 2:00am PST.

    kradamour — I agree with you on all those crossed fingers! I wonder about the grammy eligibility, though. The cut off date for this year is Sept. 30, and that’s only 5 weeks away.

    Of course, we know from experience that Adam always plays it safe with numbers and dates until he knows for sure, so he may have said 8 weeks because he figured it would be 8 weeks at the most and he doesn’t want to disappoint us with a delay.

    From what I read under Pennyroyal’s description of the “Grand Prize”, they are already thinking about a skeleton key pendant.
    That would be good news for those who can’t quite warm up to the peace pendant. Since I can’t say no, I’ll get the peace pendant first, but then I’ll be looking forward excitedly to the key pendant.

    Kradamour, has the storm hit yet? It seems crazy that they shut down the NY subway system today when the storm isn’t scheduled to hit there until sometime tomorrow. I hope that everyone is over reacting and that the storm will be no more that just a lot of rain and little flooding. You will have mail very soon.

    I know, turquoise, I noticed that too! The key pendant seems much more appealing to me. I would have been surprised, though, if no key pendant were to appear.
    The prizes are amazing…
    They have some fleur de lys earrings that I love. I wish that a portion of that sale could go to the charity.

    Adamized, it is supposed to be a crazy storm in the northeast. We have some condos in Maine and have been getting updates from the management company, it isn’t looking good. I guess it takes a while to clear out the subway system and batten it down for the hurricane, I imagine that all the stations have to be sealed off.
    Here, a lot of plywood covers a lot of windows. Norfolk is mostly below sea level – the largest at-risk city for flooding after New Orleans. I regularly kayak in front of my house after a storm, so we are prepared for the worst. Like I said, I might be spending my birthday tomorrow in a closet – or at least an interior room – to stay safe. Frown

    But Adam has thoroughly endorsed that arrangement, and PennyRoyal has done charity tie-ins for other celebrities, too. It’s a win-win. Yes, the company is making money – but their work is fairly priced (IMHO) and they are very upfront, and the % given to charity is much more than most of these arrangements provide.

    But maybe it isn’t PennyRoyal that she is mad at.
    Who else?

    Honestly, there will always be peeps who can’t be satisfied and who find (or create) negativity in anything. Frown

    What a great story! Made me smile, too – unfortunately, that could never happen in a classroom here because Adam has never been played on the radio, outside of a very few times on the Ryan Seacrist show. Frown

    It looks like Avril Lavigne and David A are ahead of Adam. At the end of the day I don’t think the voting really matters all that much. I’m not sure I could make myself sit through a Jingle Ball even for Adam. The audience is usually so young and so loud. Each performer doesn’t get very much time either. I’m not sure I could stand having Adam on stage for only 20 minutes.
