Adam returns to the concert stage this evening at Veterans Memorial Coliseum as part of the Arizona State Fair in Phoenix. This large venue seats over 14,000 people and is not sold out for tonight’s show. This is Adam’s first revenue concert in the United States since the All-Star Summer Concert in Des Moines, IA on July 28 (he did also perform a benefit for gay marriage at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC on September 25).

The show is scheduled to begin tonight at 7 PM MST. Note that Arizona does NOT observe Daylight Savings Time, so the time conversions are one hour offset from what we are used to. See the World Clock link below for the start time in your area. It is unknown at this point whether or not there will be an opening act.

something when flights from/to Iowa don’t happen every day. And
jojosie knows motel info is just a phone call(and 500 miles)

    Great job goatie!!!

I remember standing next to you in Hawaii while you filmed with your lei around your neck and your pretty Hawaiian dress, and your amazing ability to be so still and film. I, on the other hand was next to you flailing and dying inside because we were so close to the stage and him!!

That was almost exactly two years ago already. They had just done Sandman for TJR’s birthday, and you and Jojosie were already in Hawaii.

Now, you all just had another incredible Adam concert and travel experience. I’m so happy for you, and know we’ll have another chance sometime in the future.

The videos are just great, the picture and the sound.

Was your seat really that close?? Wowza. It’s just like the seats we had in Des Moines.

  4. milwlovesadam says:

cwm, your Adam airport encounter and recaps were positively killer. Like being there. I especially loved how you patted the seat while walking past it. That just put a huge grin on my face. Honestly. I would have too!!

You must have been fighting so many urges that whole flight. The urge to just go up and chat some more. The urge to tackle the flight attendant and put on her uniform so you could serve the beverages to him. The urge to get in the cockpit and announce over the loudspeaker that a certain celeb. is on da plane. The urge to pat the back of his head. The urge to climb in his lap and cuddle…. ( Oh wait, that’s my urge!! LOL) Devil Evil Grin Blush

Here is a report about the Arizona State Fair concert — impressing #s for that show…

@geezersgal Asked as we left we were told they sold 3K b4 that day 7k/8k where in house that it was their highest attnded show

  10. cwm says:

Awww, thank you everyone for your wonderful reactions to my “flight with Adam” story! You all make me smile all over again reading every one of your reactions. And honestly, I make myself smile all over again whenever I re-read my own story! I’m so glad I wrote it down. It really brings it back to life for me. I still can’t believe my good fortune!

I just finished packing up my stuff here at my parents’ house, because I leave SoCal in a few minutes to fly home. I ran across my boarding pass for the Phoenix – Burbank flight. I put it in a special place – that’s definitely one boarding pass I’m gonna hang onto!

You know, one of the things that tickles me when I think about my encounter with Adam is that I was wearing my infinity necklace (which I ALWAYS do whenever I travel because it’s been my “good luck” travel charm ever since I got it), my trespassing-themed fingernails (thanks to luval!), and my trespassing-themed rubber bracelets from the Queen+AL London concerts (thanks to tchrsd!). So I don’t know whether he noticed these things or not, but it added something sweet to the moment, as though all of you were there with me!

Of course, in the meantime, I have thought of additional things I wish I had said to him, like how much I respect him, his talent, his music, and the way he carries himself in this world. Like thanking him for the way he and his music bring me so many emotions, especially joy. I guess I just have to be satisfied with hoping that those messages came across in the way I said “you make me so happy” and “thank you,” and in the sincerity with which I spoke to him and looked at him. Sigh.

  11. luval says:

Hi cwm…I remember you and I talking about our “good luck charms”. You mentioning your infinity necklace & I always wear something “eye of horus”….Most of the time my ring. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking but honestly I really do feel safe or protected or something like that when I have it with me.

  12. cwm says:

I know exactly what you mean, luval, me too. And now my infinity necklace has just been elevated to even greater status since it brought me that airport/same flight encounter with Adam that I had fantasized about for so long! Wink

  13. mmm222 says:

I’m finally getting to my Phoenix recap. I had a grueling 27 hour shift at the hospital starting yesterday morning. I’m still on call, but all is quiet, so I’m now at home sitting in front of the Adam Lambert Shrine (my husband’s name for the computer) with the “altar boy” my orange cat, Hector, purring in my lap. So here goes…

The Phoenix experience was short but intense and incredibly fun. All nine of us staying in Phoenix were at the same hotel, which gave us plenty of opportunity to spend time together. Everyone was so interesting and entertaining. We tried to find escargot in honor of Ron and Kradamour, but the pickings were slim in Phoenix, or at least in our neck of the woods. But we did have 3 decent restaurant meals together and didn’t get thrown out of the restaurants for being too rowdy.

After a late lunch with the group on Wednesday, luval, adamized, cwm, and I headed to the State Fair. It was quite an experience with gaudy food and trinket kiosks, nausea inducing rides, fun houses, prize winning craft exhibits, and an exhibit of huge plastic insects that moved. Then there were the agricultural exhibits with goats, ducks, pigs and fluffy, freshly vacuumed(!)cows. And last but not least, the fabulous pig races! When we went to pick up our tickets at Will Call, we ran into Glamberts we knew from other concerts. Cwm seemed to know many of the more famous ones. We talked to glamberthaf in line. She is really sweet and looked fabulous. The back of her hair was in a Mohawk and was fluffy and dyed yellow. The front was longer and black and yellow. I have to hand it to her, if you’re going to dress up, you might as well go all out and do it right. I’m glad she got that front row seat. I also spotted a certain joyless SPG in the front row during the show. She was wearing the same “interesting” outfit she had on at the National Harbor show. Enough said…

We met up with the rest of the group at the concert. We had great seats and were all fairly close to each other. Goatiegarden was in section A which had 7 rows. The rest of us were either in the first or the fifth row of the next section. I was very happy to be in the first row of the second section and close enough to see Adam’s facial expressions which are always so entertaining. Jlurksacto brought a pile of DVD’s with him to give away with retjenny as his able assistant. Luval and adamized found a mother and 2 daughters way back in the general admission section to give their 3 extra tickets to. They were Adam virgins and were quite thrilled to move up to such good seats.

Adam’s performance was just amazing- high energy, fierce, and sexually charged, just perfect for the large venue. He looked gorgeous in that sleeveless vest. His arms and shoulders are so nicely toned. His hair keeps getting darker, and is more to my liking. His vocals were perfect with some beautiful random melodic riffs thrown in here and there. He had the VJJ’s sit down with him during OOL and they harmonized with him quite well. It was a marked improvement over the OOL mess at the DC concert. The mic action during Pop That Lock was such an OMG moment. It was so mind boggling and over way too fast. Thank goodness for our faithful videographers so we can relive that moment over and over again. (If this is the result of Sauli being out of the country, we should arrange for Adam to be celibate for a week or so before all of the shows.) It was interesting for me to compare this show to the DC show I attended 3 weeks earlier. They were equally good but totally different. The DC show was very intimate with a loose, chatty Adam performing to a smaller, very accepting adult crowd. He was gorgeous that night in a very classy well tailored suit. His highly energized performance in Phoenix was perfect for the large venue. I love both Adams, the intimate one and the fierce one, and am grateful that we get to see both sides of him. At both concerts I noticed that Adam seems so much more relaxed on stage chatting and interacting with the audience than he did prior to Queenbert.

Last but not least, thanks to my fellow Phoenix concert goers. It was such a pleasure to share this experience with you. A special thanks to the very generous jlurks for spreading the joy with his DVD’s, to goatiegarden for her amazing videos, and to jojosie for showing us all so well that age is just a number. I can’t wait to meet up with all of you again.

  14. milwlovesadam says:

mmm222, thanks so much. You have a way with words that makes me feel like I was there with you.

“Joyless SPG?” Let me guess….Short dark hair and dark rimmed glasses, leather jacket?

Or, big thick gray braid to one side with an “outfit?”

  15. sparkle says:

mmm222– glad to hear that Phoenix lived up to expectations – after our DC experience, I wasn’t sure if it would. Although when you said that there were 9 ALL’ers, I knew that you had to have a fabulous time – we are such a fun group! mils – I believe that mmm was referring to the Safety Pin Glambert – am I right? Great recap! Say hi to Hector and your husband for me!

  16. milwlovesadam says:

    Safety Pin Glambert? What?

  17. Kradamour says:

hehe, I was thinking of Ms. Safety Pin, too, sparkle! She is the one I had my unfriendly conversation with at National Harbor when I was trying to be helpful. This one is dyed blonde, mils. The common characteristic seems to be “unsmiling”.

What do you want to bet they will be in Bali?
    Razz

mmm, thank you for that wonderful recap! and especially for the comparison with DC.
And as an avid fair-goer, so glad you included some comments about the venue! I can fairly smell the funnelcakes…!

  18. Kradamour says:

glambotgram, THANK YOU for that link to the concert! It is way too rare that a peep posts a complete concert…the individual songs are wonderful, but the whole is definitely greater than its parts when the whole is an Adam concert!
    In Love
Now I will go back and watch goatie’s vids again, I can put them into a larger context.
    The best of both worlds!
    Grin

  19. milwlovesadam says:

kradamour, I wouldn’t doubt that a few will be there. At a platinum table. All unsmiling and up front for all to see, “Ugly Americanism”, and entitled behavior.

    UGH.

Adam is a good sport for dealing with them.

Another perspective is that they support him, but, honestly, he must get sick of them. Oh well. We sure have discussed them a lot over the years, and they are not going away. I just have a hard time getting used to them. They just continue to shock me. I can’t explain it. I just get a pit in my stomach when I see them, and their get-ups and their dour faces and their whole demeanor.

Thank goodness for this group. It makes everything better.

  20. riskylady says:

Wonderful recap, mmm, like being there! Note I made to self after my first Adam concert: Never take your eyes off him if you can help it, because moments like that Pop That Lock action happen without warning and so fast, yet are so jaw-droppingly fun!!!

    Hi mils!

This lady is definitely not what’s referred to as an SPG.

    http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL629/13192141/24087654/404324115.jpg

This is “Aunty Quaint” and she’s actually very sweet.

She couldn’t be more OTT (and, as far as that goes, in terms of “outfits”, look who’s standing next to her and what was I thinking wearing THAT? – Big Smile ) but she’s OTT crazy in a fun way!

She has this infectious zest for life and I loved meeting her and I admire her too.

I didn’t say anything to her about her hair. She brought it up. Each braid represents a year of sobriety and she’ll continue to grow it each year that she remains sober … and that will be for the rest of her life.

    Eccentric? OTT?

Yes, but in the very best way.

I think the hat is wearing her and not the other way around. Big Smile

No, not at all. She “owns” everything about her ‘look’ and about herself.

  25. milwlovesadam says:

  26. Kradamour says:

Ron, what a lovely story! (and photo!)

But what gives her away as NOT an SPG is that thousand-watt smile!
(Of course, she has a lot to smile about: she is spending time with you!)
    Wink

  27. milwlovesadam says:

Okay. Thanks Ron. No offense meant. She seems nice!!! But, definitely gets conversations going wherever she goes!!

Must have been one of “those” SPG’s.

    Enuf already…

  28. mmm222 says:

Yes, the SPG I’m referring to is Ms. Safety Pin, sighted in Phoenix wearing the infamous black shirt held together with dozens of safety pins. She has been in the front at the 4 concerts I’ve been to since May. I didn’t see her at first and thought maybe, just maybe, she stayed home from Phoenix, and then half way through the concert, I spotted her in the front row in the safety pin shirt. It’s good thing I didn’t have a mouth full of water or I might have snorted it out my nose! Well, I can’t call her a nut for going to these 4 concerts since I was there myself. However…I’m sure she’s at many others and always in the front.

  29. Kradamour says:

About the safety pin shirt…it’s interesting, actually. A t-shirt with slashes every inch or so, and all held together with hundreds of safety pins. It’s very eye-catching, and to be honest I would wear it (but it looks
uncomfortable, wouldn’t wear it for very long).

But at National Harbor, she was sitting right in front of me, and I was watching those metal safety pins under the hot sun and how pink her skin was getting under each safety pin…

  30. Kradamour says:

The safety pin shirt is on sale. Such a deal…
    https://www.theoutnet.com/product/241070
    (oops, sold out…)
Balmain did a whole collection of these t-shirts; long sleeves, asymmetrical sleeves, short sleeves.
Retail was just under $2000 per t-shirt. Yes, really.

But, you could make your own!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxgt3tklzHU

  31. Kradamour says:
  32. mmm222 says:

Considering who was wearing it, why does the outrageous cost of that safety pin shirt not surprise me?

  33. adamized says:

One additional thought on the SPGs. I was surprised that after the concert they were waiting to catch a glimpse of Adam like the rest of us and had no idea if he was there or not. This surprised me a bit since I thought that these two were a bit more of insiders. I had the impression that all the money and gifts they lavish on BB provided them with some additional access. Guess not.

Its amazing the range of venues Adam has played this year when he hasn’t been on tour. The pig races were exciting but I think I would prefer Bali over New Years. Maybe if I win the lottery.

  34. dcglam says:

Okay. Thanks Ron. No offense meant.

Oh mils, no offense taken and I hope I didn’t come across as being defensive. It appears as though I did and I didn’t mean it that way.

It seems to me that “Aunty Quaint” devotes her life, or certainly a great portion of it, to every gay cause and anti-bullying rally. She’s right there up front and center.

I have a strong feeling that you mils, with your great sense of humor, and Aunty Quaint, with her wonderful outgoing personality, would really hit it off!

  36. Kradamour says:

Thanks so much goatie garden! Adam’s face and his beautiful smile in HD. This show was full of that delicious, flirty smile that I can never get enough of. Wish there was a gif of that particular smile. I defy anyone to not fall in love with him immediately once they see that smile (well any woman.)

I wear both the eye-of-horus and my peace necklaces quite a bit. The dog tags are a favourite, though. When I’m in Adam-friendly territory, I wear the Trespassing and the NOH8 tags together and love them (also love the Trespassing dog tags).

I had a jeweller carefully detach the black cord from my HH key and add a silver, mesh link chain which suits it to a T. A surprising number of people ask me about the key – as in who gave it to me or who it signifies.

  41. TLKC says:

  46. milwlovesadam says:

Ron, you’re right!! Of course!! That smile of hers says so much!

    Re: the SPG’s:

Yes, it is odd to me also, that after that much up close attention, countless M&G’s, countless encounters, personal gifts given to him and worn on stage, “friendships” made with the whole glamily and their parents, it does seem odd that they still flock to barricades and fences and after show oppy’s.

And, on some level, their behavior is so off-putting that we are still talking about them two years after GN. I coined the phrase after my Labor Day road trip to Rockford and Peoria. Guess it stuck. For better or worse.

  47. milwlovesadam says:

Who knows, maybe one of the most “famous” ones is responsible for him coming to AZ. She seems to have show-biz connections.

Fantastic shot of Adam on the big screen!

    http://instagram.com/p/Q6UCrRnVIt/

It was so awesome and funny when he did this.

The funny thing is, we were so close to the stage, that I wasn’t ever really looking up at the jumbotron because there was no need to. So when Adam lay down on the stage and sang directly into the camera, I thought it was cute but I couldn’t see him very well anymore, but I thought – how cool is that for whoever is going to see that film! And then it dawned on me – the jumbotron!! So I looked up, and there he was – in all his overwhelming glory! LOL It was a great moment.

  50. cwm says:

I posted these on the October chat thread, but want to make sure they are posted here as well…

Here is a picture of a fan with Adam at the Phoenix airport, so this is what Adam looked like when I saw him there!
    https://twitter.com/jo4harts/status/260221436705247232

Also, I had an exchange on twitter with two fans who were on the same flight as Adam on the way TO Phoenix from Burbank. Remember that Adam said in the Phoenix TV interview that he got delayed in security in Burbank and he missed his original flight? Well, he ended up on their Southwest flight to Phoenix, which is all coach and you pick your seat. He was the last one to board the plane, and asked one fan about sitting in the seat next to her. She indicated that she was a fan (showed him her phone case LOL) and he politely said something like “oh sorry, maybe not.” She took it well, understanding that he didn’t feel like sitting next to a potentially cray inquisitive fan when he was irritated about missing his flight and being delayed getting to Phoenix. So he picked a different seat, which was in the same row, across the aisle, from another fan! – who stared at him the whole flight, of course. LOL

Apparently, he slouched down in his seat, leaned his head on his hand, and watched a movie for a good part of the flight. For that flight, he was dressed in the same clothes that he appeared in in the TV interview, and was not wearing a hat or sunglasses – so was not “disguised.”

    These are the two fans:
    The “scorned” one: https://twitter.com/SCmtnbert
The one in the same row: https://twitter.com/PattiHum

Fun little slices of life with Adam!
