Having wrapped up the overseas “We Are Glamily” tour, Adam and Glamily are back in LA for some well-deserved rest. Later this month, Adam will be in Miami Beach to headline their Gay Pride event. It seems to be the first of his “a-concert-a-month” series while he works on new music. Above we see Adam enjoying his downtime lunching with Sutan. Photo from Just Jared.

    I will stick my hand up and admit to reading all 3 books of the 50 shades series…..They’re OK, a bit silly in places, and certainly not the best written books I’ve ever read!. I know quite a few people that only read the first one, but I thought they got a bit better with the 2nd and third, a bit more story and character development, and not quite such an emphasis on sex…..I do wonder how they will translate it to the big screen though, as it is very sexual.

    That Bedlam looks great, and so professional.

    I haven’t read 50 Shades of Grey and won’t, because I already have too much reading to do with two book clubs.

    As far as watching Adam’s S8 I go there often, and lately I’ve taken to watching full episodes of S8 Idol ,and previous years too. Love Paula and Simon. it’s an antidote to S12!

    Hi Everyone!
    Just wanted to let you know that our Glambert lunch is all set. I’ve made reservations for 25 people at the Poseidon Restaurant in Del Mar on Monday, July 1 at 11:00. To accommodate a large group they wanted to seat us when they open. We’ll be on the open air patio right on the beach so hopefully the San Diego weather will live up to its name! Ya never know about June gloom that can linger a bit into July. But fingers crossed!
    These are the folks that let me know they’re planning to attend as well as a few who are friends of friends here on the blog that heard of our plan. The restaurant said 25 was what they could accommodate at lunch on what will probably be a busy day for them with the holiday that week.
    Here’s who I have by “real” or Twitter name: tchrsd, annjohnson(hopeful), ovationimpact, mmm222, cwm +1, little duchess + the duke, Marg, Dorothy, nkd, adamized, rena, retjenny + Mr. Jim, Cher, Jim, 771squared +2, Margie & Lisa, (if they fly in on Sun.), riskylady + mr.
    I hope I didn’t leave anyone out. If I did please let me know ASAP.
    Lunch is early enough so that you can stay on and enjoy the view from the bar or freshen up to go to The Brass Rail gathering later that evening downtown.
    I’ll give you more details regarding menu, directions, and parking as we get closer.
    Looking forward to seeing everyone! Please feel free to give me your feedback, especially if I’ve left anyone out inadvertently!

    So here is a bit of Pop music trivia that I never knew. Who remembers the cute song Love Potion #9? It first came out in 1959, was very popular, and was recorded by a number of groups over the years. The version I remember best was by the Searchers in 1964. Well, it seems that the song was banned by some radio stations because of the line “but when I kissed a cop…”

    Radio stations had a lot more independence back then in choosing their playlists (not like now), so I imagine it was just a few stations. When I heard that on an Oldies but Goodies show today, I just couldn’t help but think, Fever, nothing has changed.

    Good Morning everyone…

    I think everyone here knows how I love David Bowie. TLKC sent me this article. Bowie does not give interviews but the author asked him to describe his album in a few words. Bowie gave him 42 words. (I had to look up a few of them!). In a weird way it reminds me of the thought that went into Trespassing and Adam’s description of it in interviews. I think he and Bowie would have a hell of a time together discussing!

    When I saw it I instantly thought it’s the anti-gorgeous pic. Shows how even the most beautiful man can be geeky looking. It’s all smoke and mirrors sometimes. I think he decided to change it just to show that dorky can be ok too! IMO, of course.

    Re Love Potion #9…the other “ban” that stands out in my mind is “They are coming to take me away” by Napoleon the Fourteenth. It was banned in Maryland because of a possible – and very remote, imho – reference to bestiality. I just wiki’d it, and it had quite the life afterward, even tho banned all over for other reasons.

    So I just went to the chokehold link and watched/listened through…never listened to the words before. Then I clicked on Map and watched those lyrics, hadn’t really heard them before, either. It really struck me that both of them would be killer if sung by a female artist, especially Map. I wish that successful artists would cover Adam’s songs.

    Good for Adam getting that link onto the author’s feed! I assume he has a kajillion followers.

    Am out and about now this morning. Kradamour, do you know that E.L. James is a woman? I think when the book came out there was speculation that it was a man but then she revealed herself. Would bring over the wiki link but can’t do it on my iPhone.

    I read the first book and was a bit bored. But like you said, HK fan, the second and third are supposed to be better.

    Yes, EL James is a woman. She has made all the talk show rounds, and is quite, “plain.” She is married, English, and says she did her research for all the sex and games on the interwebz. She was once interviewed with her husband, and they were asked quite frankly if they used any of the “techniques” at home. They both just laughed and said “no” very emphatically!

    I am getting a little thrill that she is a Glambert though. It would make sense.

    Love Adam promoting his own song to her. Chokehold would be so supremely perfect for her book, as we have said before.

    I have a co-worker who is reading the trilogy at lunchtime. She’s one of those gals who is kind of self-unaware and trips over pop culture references a lot, anyway, one day she came back from lunch with the book in hand and said, “you know, I was reading my book, but some of the pages were stuck together and I had to stop reading.”

    We all just lost it. I practically did a spit shot, my friend choked on her salad she was laughing so hard! The gal just looked at us quizically, and asked ” what did I say?” Which, of course, made us laugh even harder…poor thing. I still don’t think she ever got it. Laugh Laugh Laugh

    One more piece of 50 Shades trivia, it started as fanfic on a blog for Twilight fans.

    All Imma gonna say is, some Glambert/Adommy crays on other sites might just be sitting on a goldmine.

    I personally don’t care for fanfic, it is just too much. Too much shipping and fantasy nonsense for me. I’d rather follow the real deal.

    Loved Allison on Idol. I hated her first single and only liked a couple of songs on her first album. She has really come into her own since she has been able to perform the type of music that she likes. She is a real talent.

    Yes, I just loved her at GN in Peoria and Rockford. I remember her crying her face off during one song and just belting it out. I could see every emotion on her face from my front row center seat!! ( Great night, oh what a night !)

    Thanks to goatie who went up into the pit, and I got her seat. Caught more than a few eyebeams that night. ( Closes eyes and can still feel it…)

    AL happy belated birthday wishes. Appreciate all your support and creativity to make this blog so enjoyable.

    I absolutely hated 50 Shades, all three books. Yes, it is like saying “the food was so awful but the portions were huge”. In my defense, my sister had downloaded them onto our shared Kindle account and I read them last spring while on vacation in Italy. I kept waiting to see if any of the characters woould be developed (no); or if the writing style would improve (no); or if at the very least I would find the sex at all sexual (no). Part of my ire is pure jealousy that I hadn’t thougtht of turning the basic Cinderella story into a porn novel. James is laughing all the way to the bank. That being said, having her use her influence to get one of Adam’s songs on the soundtrack would be fantastic. It may even push me to go see the movie.

    IMO, some fanfic I have read is 100 times more well written than the 50 Shades books and a lot more “moving”

    Krads, 50 Shades is about, in simple terms, a young woman who gets involved with an older man who enjoys sex games, sex toys, and sado-masochism, and the woman is submissive.

    Lots of controversy about “setting women back” and women being submissive to enjoy getting shady.

    Fanfic? To each their own. I prefer my naughty a la True Blood and Duchovny these days. Six weeks and counting to Sookie, Eric and ..sigh..Alcide. The anticipation factor is getting high.

    Kradamour completely agree with you in 50 Shades not being well written. At work everyone was gushing about it, how it’s the kinkiest book they’ve ever read and they couldn’t believe it that it got published. So I took my stab at reading it. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. THAT, my dear friends, IS NOT KINK. Let a Glambert write you a Kink fic, THEN YOU WILL HAVE KINK! Plus can’t take a book seriously when they say “down there” and “his pulsing member” Like really how old are we?

I totally agree with Krad, “Story of O” was so many levels above 50 Shades – and I only read a few pages here and there. Complete drivel. Why are we surprised? People were taken in by that drivel, just like the millions taken in by the crap and rap coming out of our radio stations.
    Someone wrote on Twitter that 80% of the music played comes from about 10 artists.

    Agree with that post, Ron – but he has problems more than just the music – think he’s right when he says he’s still not one of the “cool” ones – like Pharrell. Coming from Idol is part of that, but PP has escaped it somewhat – perhaps because he was obviously not thrilled with being on Idol. (Plus “Home” and he’s a WGWG.) But there’s no doubt Adam has become a go-to figure when voices are mentioned – plus the growing awareness of his intelligence and wit. So much depends, however, on this next song and its rollout. It’s got to get the listener on first hearing.

    They played WWFM. Why didn’t they play his releases this time? That’s the 64-dollar-question, Ron. (Radio didn’t like first song, FYE.) That could’ve been because of the AMA’s, of course.

    Some say the rollout was screwed up – I don’t know, but we were all criticizing it.
