Adam-LunchLA
Having wrapped up the overseas “We Are Glamily” tour, Adam and Glamily are back in LA for some well-deserved rest. Later this month, Adam will be in Miami Beach to headline their Gay Pride event. It seems to be the first of his “a-concert-a-month” series while he works on new music. Above we see Adam enjoying his downtime lunching with Sutan. Photo from Just Jared.

Oh, Ron, say it isn’t so! A pre-fab kir royal!?
No, no, my friend, you were wise to pass it by.
    A real kir royal:
A splash of crème de cassis in a crystal stem, not too large nor too rounded; a tulip is perfect
Held up to the light to see the rich claret color sparkle in the glass, with a gentle swirl to loosen the scent…
A quick pass under the nose to relish the aroma…
Four parts of a delicious dry champagne, chilled but not too chilled so as not to deaden the taste buds…
poured ever so gently so as to minimize the loss of bubbles…
the gentle pour will maximize the visual enjoyment of the blending of the two nectars…
One final lift to the light to reveal the bubbles dancing over the lovely pink of the beverage…
Finally, the first sip, as the bubbles tickle and effervesce…
THAT does not come out of a bottle ready-mixed.
    Not at all.

OMG @adamlambert !! They look so much like each other in that pic *.* http://pic.twitter.com/ESQ8CLdB8Y

  3. luval says:

Thanks for that pic, loveroftalent! Am gonna send that to a couple of Elvis lovers I know.

Krad, I am not a drinker but do you think I can try that at home? Smile Such a beautiful description my mouth is watering. Don’t have ingredients around here, though. Just the tulip!

  4. ultimathule says:

What were some of the similarities between Adam and Elvis? Remember both 6’1″ – born in January – dyed hair black – any others?

  5. ultimathule says:

Elvis’s last concert was in Indianapolis.

  6. luval says:

I think the majority of similarities are physical. There’s the curled lip at times, both actually strawberry blondes, both considered controversial early in their careers. Both had only one brother (although Elvis’ twin died at birth).

Both are humble, gentlemen, mom raised them right. Both have the “IT” factor. Both have the swagger factor. Both flashy dressers, costumey at times. (I got some of these from Adam Official).

This is IMO by far the photo that I think looks most like Elvis. And I have fooled people with it. From Glam Nation tour.

  7. luval says:

My musician friend here in Syracuse once asked me to send him interviews where the interviewer mentioned the Elvis similarity in looks. So I sent him the Jonathan Ross one and FYE Nagoya Japan.

  8. milwlovesadam says:

They both like to swivel their, um, “hips.”

Okay, we’ll call it them “hips.”

    Elvis the Pelvis.

That pic side by side is simply uncanny.

AL thank you so much for the Oksana posts. She was so snarky. She’ll be very missed.

  9. milwlovesadam says:

Just watched Smash. Best episode of the season. Has it been canceled or just moved to Saturday night?

    Megan Hilty is beyond. Just…beyond.

  10. luval says:

  11. JOJOSIE says:

I read that Elvis and Adam both have Jewish Mothers although neither ended up a practicing Jew. They both had large female followings of OTT fans. I hope Adams fans stay long term like Elvis’s did. If this group is any example I think they will.

  12. milwlovesadam says:

luval, thanks, I didn’t hear any official confirmation of the cancellation. Speculation is that the move to Sat is a precursor to it.

I just really hope it is continued somewhere. It seems to be picking up steam in plot and character development.

And Kat actually moved her face this week. ( Snark )

  13. Kradamour says:

luval, yes you can do that at home – no need to be a professional!
    Grin

I always worry a little when Adam is compared to Elvis. Elvis had such a sad and lonely and dysfunctional life…a talent, I guess, although I didn’t like his music; definitely a voice. So tragic that he became a bloated caricature of himself. I want so much more for Adam: happiness, family, love.
The physical resemblance can be uncanny, even the little half/double chin.
Was Elvis really a ginger? I never heard that he dyed his hair! That is almost creepy.
    Thinking

  14. luval says:

Thanks for that tidbit,JOJOSIE. The similarities are adding up. I’m sure we’ll find more.

  15. milwlovesadam says:

Okay, it’s Sunday night. That means I need to clear my slate for a bad boy.

    Draper. Don, that is.

Although something tells me that Pete Campbell will out-wit him this season. Just a hunch. Oh well. At least Don wins in the sexy charming way too handsome and well-dressed sleazy scotch drinking cigarette smoking make-out king department.

  16. milwlovesadam says:

There were also tons of rumors, to this day, that Elvis was really gay. Or at least bi. Don’t shoot me peeps, it’s been a rumor for my whole life.

There are moments where, if an Elvis movie is playing while I’m channel surfing, it’s just uncanny how much they resemble each other. Even the wardrobe. When Adam wears loose slacks, yikes, it’s there. And the creepers too.

  17. milwlovesadam says:

Krads, krads, krads, I just love ‘ya!!!!

But, no offense, I just wouldn’t want to play Pop Culture Trivial Pursuit with ‘ya!!!!

Now, if you say you don’t know what Trivial Pursuit is, I Razz Wink just will go and quietly bang my head against the wall a bit!!!

I remember we had the “elvis is bi” discussion on mj’s. Not gonna shoot ya, mils! It’s documented in most books about Elvis. I believe it.

  21. Kradamour says:

mils, anyone who plays Pop Culture Trivial Pursuit (Okay, I did not know that there was more than one version, but I have heard of Trivial Pursuit even though I have never played it) would die of boredom and win at the first round. I would totally lose….my husband for years has been exasperated when he will try to tell me a story about someone I have never heard of…
    But I digress.
Here is a website about Elvis’ Jewish roots. Apparently his great-grandmother was Jewish. Scroll down to the end where it shows the headstone he had made for his mother with a Star of David and what it says after that.
    So interesting.

He is more interesting than I thought he was.
When did he die? Was it before 1982?
For those who believe in reincarnation, there is a lot of stuff to digest here.
    Thinking
ETA: NO! I just saw the URL of the first website I posted above…it is a HATEFUL website and I will look for the same information from a site that is not despicable. Please do not give that site hits. I would delete it, but it is worth knowing that they have a page about Elvis’ mother and the breadth of their reach. BRB.

ETA: here is a safe website to click on to see Elvis’ mother’s tombstone: http://www.elvispresleynews.com/GladysPresleyFuneral.html

  22. luval says:

Kradamour, like you I never liked Elvis’ music but I am so interested in his history & lifestyle. Always wanted to go to Graceland. On my bucket list. He died on August 16, 1977.

(another Elvis post by me LOL)

  23. Kradamour says:

My brother died on August 16.
That date will be easy to remember.
    Big Frown

  24. luval says:

Rose Sorry for your loss, krads.

  25. nkd says:

I apologize, but I am sitting here reading this convo and LMAO! Kradamour, Heart Kiss Heart

ETA Now I feel terrible, I posted that comment before I saw the one about your brother. So sorry.

Hey all! Crazy weekend and am now sitting on the runway on a plane with no brakes. Yay! They won’t let us off the plane. I may not make it to SC tonight. Ugh. So, thought I would check in. I never knew much about Elvis. He died when I was 7 so all I know is from history but remember my mom being shocked and sad when he died. So weird, I really remember that day and never seeing my mom that upset about someone we didn’t know. Of course, now I get it!
If my Finnish friends and family have their say Adam is reincarnated. Her mom is SURE about it. Never knew the similarities. Can’t wait to look at that web site.

Yay! We get to leave the plane! Check in later.

    Adam is the reincarnated Elvis.
Wonder what he was up to during the few years he had to wait for Adam to be born?

Improving the range on that voice, for one!

  29. Kradamour says:

Posts that pass in the night.
My brother was “gathered up” many years ago; I miss him, but it is no longer painful.
Time does in fact heal all wounds.

  30. ultimathule says:

I was never much of an Elvis fan. Neutral

When I was growing up, there was an elderly Italian lady in our neighborhood who was very friendly with us kids, we all loved her, but she didn’t speak English very well.

I never had the heart to correct her when she would pronounce Elvis’ name (I guess she was a fan) because she would call him Elvis Pretzel. I’m sure she thought that that was his name.

    Big Smile

Mrs. Verastro. She was so funny.

  34. JOJOSIE says:

Luval, not a real Elvis fan either but I did manage to visit Graceland on one of my trips south. It was quite awhile ago and I still remember it. Lots of folks in line for tour, we did get inside but were not allowed in any rooms, just a look thru the door and only a few rooms on the main floor. The house was not as big as I thought it would be that was my main disapointment. Not the size of the Hollywood star homes you see. Elvis is buried there.

  35. luval says:

Love that fan video, ultimathule. Even the song!

What am I doing up? Have to get up early.

Ron – Check out his famous ’68 Comeback Special on DVD – dressed in black leather – rock’n’roll at its finest. Brilliant – he helped bring black music into the mainstream.

  39. Ron says:

In our family this is a classic “Mrs. Verastro” story.

It’s either very funny or very tragic or maybe it’s both.

    Smile

I must have been 5 or 6 years old when one day my uncle brought home a goose that was to be his backyard pet. This did not please my aunt at all. It was a long time ago but I still remember her saying, “What on earth are we going to do with a goose?!! How do I feed it? What does it eat?”

Unlike my aunt, I loved the goose and so did all of my little playmates. The goose however hated all of us. When it wasn’t biting us it was flapping its wings and running away. I learned at a young age that a goose doesn’t like to be petted or grabbed by the neck. It’s a good thing those things don’t have teeth otherwise I’d have no fingers today!

Months passed and my aunt finally reached her limit with that goose. The goose had to go but go where? What do you do with a goose that you don’t want any more?

Mrs. Verastro came to the rescue. She grew up with animals on a farm in Italy, she had a small enclosed pond on her property so everything would be fine and she’d be happy to look after the goose.

So the goose is gone. My uncle is unhappy, my aunt is thrilled.

Something must have been lost in the translation though because, not long after, there was a knock on aunt’s door. When my aunt opened it, there stood Mrs. Verastro holding a large serving platter. And there on the platter was a golden brown cooked goose!

    My aunt was horrified! Shock

She imagined this goose swimming around in the little pond. She never thought it would end up in Mrs. Verastro’s oven!

That was Mrs. Verastro. She thought she was doing something very nice for my aunt and uncle. Smile

I don’t remember what my aunt did with it but I’m sure she didn’t eat it.

This is something I haven’t thought about for centuries years but it all came back to me because you’re talking about Elvis Presley.

    Laugh

  40. ultimathule says:

Great duet, nkd – enjoyed that.

Geese are nasty critters – hissing and biting and snapping – better off cooked.

  42. Ron says:

Speaking of my aunt, I just remembered! What a coincidence.

Today is her birthday. April 22nd.

    She’s 96 years old!

When I speak with her I’ll ask if she remembers the goose. Smile

    Good night.

I assume she is looking for attention.

She may be looking for attention, but Adam did tweet that pic of himself as a young blond, and she happened to have another one.
