Adam-LunchLA
Having wrapped up the overseas “We Are Glamily” tour, Adam and Glamily are back in LA for some well-deserved rest. Later this month, Adam will be in Miami Beach to headline their Gay Pride event. It seems to be the first of his “a-concert-a-month” series while he works on new music. Above we see Adam enjoying his downtime lunching with Sutan. Photo from Just Jared.

If I could, may I ask that everyone keep my daughter in your thoughts today? At 26, she is having her tonsils and adnoids removed. Everyone has told her every scary story they’ve ever heard about complications when adults have this done. Thanks for some good karma.
It is funny about how everyone has different idols from the past that they liked in their seasons. I never liked Fantasia or Clay very much. The only other idol music that I purchased was David Cooks’ first and I think I listened to it about 3 times. I only ever voted for Adam and Haley. The girls this year are great singers but I hate them being compared to Whitney or Beyonce or whomever. That’s why I love Adam because he is one of a kind and his voice is so unique. No one sings or sounds like him.

Prayers and good thoughts being sent to you and your daughter, apal123. Smile Funny how insensitive people can be about these things – I’m sure she’s been suffering because of the adenoids and tonsils, so I’m sure she will be much better off without them!!

Agree with you about Adam being one of a kind. I listen to Pandora quite a bit, and they come up with the strangest artists on Adam’s station – Nickelback (really??), 3 Doors Down, Muse, Kris Allen, tons of Gaga… He really is like no other. But I have to admit that I’ve LOVED the music I’ve heard from Adam’s bastard albums, especially “Fields”… Might have to break down and buy that album. I really hope Adam goes more rock next time. Smile

P.S. Count me as one who LOVED the Miami outfits, especially the chestbert/plunging neckline one! Geez, with those sunglasses, he looked mahvelous In Love

    Dear apal123

It’s natural to be worried when a loved one undergoes a major surgery. I hope you will find some comfort in this …

My father had his tonsils removed when he was 36 years old with no complications afterwards and this was back in … 1961! Medical practices and procedures have come a long way since then!

I’m sure your daughter is in expert hands and will be all the better for having them removed.

I hope she likes ice cream. Smile

A sore throat will likely follow the surgery and ice cream can be the best medicine to soothe it.

    All best wishes!

Good thoughts for your daughter apal123.

  5. glambotgram says:

Hkfan I think Clay sang BOTW because it was his shining moment on Idol when he was there. He really did a beautiful job on it then. I liked him then, he seemed like a nice guy, now not so much.
Fantasia is another story, there was nothing about her that I cared for then or now. Summertime was the only thing she sang that I could even listen to. She sounds screechy to me.

APAL. Good thoughts to your daughter, I had my tonsils out at 18 with no problems.

nkd do you remember the triangle shirt? It really seems familiar to me for some reason.

  6. TLKC says:

Good luck to your daughter, apal123 though she’s not going to need it. My doctor once he told me that his pre-op patients often call in stress and tears about horror stories they have been told by so-called friends. He said that some mothers like to scare the heck out of first time pregnant women, too. Go figure.

I don’t like to read too much into song choices any more but maybe Clay read the SMGN rant and sang BOTW to send Adam a message of comfort. Grin

In complete awe of your intimate knowledge of the paternity
Adam’s wardrobe, nkd. You must be a major fashion freak or in close touch with one. Love, love, love your posts. Don’t go away now, ya hear? Kiss

Adam is getting a mite thin imho. Not reading anything into it other than a health kick and the desire to look as good as possible in front of 2 billion people. Performances are great exercise. The tour gave him a great head start.

  7. riskylady says:

nkd, thanks for that beautiful performance collage. He really is amazing – those Trespassing runs were the “ninja rolls” of this performance lol!
This lovely man traveled 5 hours from Miami, another 19 to Hong Kong, and an hour ferry to Macau, yet was smiling and signing autographs and taking pics at the ferry terminal. Now that’s a real STAR. And I’m not even including the wait time between flights, ferry, etc.
He can reward himself with whatever tattoo he wants IMHO. (Just not the neck, please please!) And I don’t think OOFTA will go away, that would really send the wrong signal to everyone.

apal123, sending good karma to your daughter.

Everyone, check out cher‘s Miami Beach recap on the Pride thread. She’s up for another one. Amazing!

  8. rs says:

hahahaha! Lyndsey Parker does it again! On her The Day After program about this weeks Idol she and her cohost were complaining how the contestants didn’t take enough advantage of the DIVA theme. And I quote:

“You can do Adam Lambert! He is a VH1 Diva

TLKC, I can’t imagine that Clay would send Adam any message of comfort. He has ever had only nasty things to say about him, including that his singing “made his ears bleed”

apal123, sending out good thoughts for your daughter’s surgery. The thing I remember about when I had my tonsils out when I was 6 is the jello and ice cream. Smile

  9. TLKC says:

Those chain link pants are wonderful and should be at that price tag (753US$, WUT?) Love the new suit and will love it even more with a different shirt than that purple number. RE: camouflage harem pants – if Mad Men lasts another 10 years, they will make this look fashionable again and only we will know that Adam was one of the first to retro it Devil

  10. turquoisewaters says:

Lots of good karma from me to your daughter, Apal123.

  11. TLKC says:

LOL, rs, I put a grin at the end of that sentence for a reason. Should have put a devil icon, maybe? Sad to say, Clay probably agrees with Kent about Adam’s suitability as a gay icon, though I doubt he would be as awful about it. (We know he wouldn’t agree with Kent about Adam’s voice. Devil )

  12. riskylady says:

I was just gazing at the larger version of the MTV Prince of Glam foto over on 24/7, and that is a Mona Lisa smile if ever there was one. Would love to know what he’s thinking…..

  13. riskylady says:

  14. rs says:

Watching last night’s Idol now and Clay is singing BOTW. This is the first time I have ever heard him sing. I didn’t watch Idol when he was on. I was very prepared to ignore what he said about Adam and like his singing (I liked that he was a special ed teacher in another life.)

Sorry, I hated it. Frown . That song and Simon and Garfunkle were my generation. I had the album, and that song brings back so many memories and has emotional meaning for me. I just thought that Clay butchered it, and it was totally wrong for his voice and style. Just NO.

  15. TLKC says:

The only tattoo I might wish away is the spewing man.

Someone who is getting all his hand tattoos removed told me that hand tattoos are frequently removed because they cannot be concealed and often receive negative feedback on job interviews. Adam’s job interview situation is a bit more fluid but an acting role might make OOFTA an obstacle.

I always thought that OOFTA’s meaning is more general, less Sauli-specific. Something having to do with a gentle reminder every time you lift a drink to your lips. Good advice for the rest of your life. so to speak. JMO but Adam is enough of a self-aware butterfly to know that personal love tattoos would never be a good idea for him.

  16. Reese says:

apal123… Many prayers coming your way for your daughter’s successful surgery and recovery.
    Peace, love and light.

  17. TLKC says:

I didn’t watch last night and have no particular attachment to Clay since I didn’t get into Idol until Season 7. BOTW means a lot to me, too. It beat out Let it Be at the Grammy awards the year it came out, which says a lot about it’s meaning for an entire generation. Covers generally bother me. I love Neil Diamond but will never forgive him for putting out the first version of John Lennon’s “And so this is Christmas…” to rival the original in radio play. Bah, humbug! Devil

I know a lot of thought and probably money went into those CMA figures…..and I’m really happy Adam won one…but they really do look just like the sort of cheap tat souvenirs that you would find in the markets!!

The main picture on the front page of the sky news website shows one of the suspects standing right near the family of the young boy who died. Awful looking at it, to think that just moments later he will be dead, and his sister maimed for life…….so senseless.

I just checked on the eBay auction for those tickets to “A Very Private Concert” and they are at $2000. There is no date, so I wrote to ask for it. They are refusing to give the date, “in Adam’s best interest”. Can anybody here figure out what they mean? Do they think they can keep it secret? Do they not want paps or fans hanging around the entrance? Beats me.

  28. Calgary says:

apal Your daughter will be okay. My sis was about the same age when she had hers done. A couple of days with a REALLLY sore throat (lots of mashed up T3) and then she was fine. Give her lots of TLC.

  29. Calgary says:

Post ho here. Thought this was an interesting take on fame/success in the music biz.

After touching on lang’s induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame on Sunday, Ghomeshi asked about her the challenges of her life and career.
“I have never felt like I was fully part of anything,” said lang. “Whether it’s being gay, being a Buddhist, being a Canadian. It would be best to be independent of categories because thinking in those terms is deflating.”
She also admitted that there was a conscious decision about stepping away from trying to be a star – “It takes so much energy, there’s so much pressure. You can see that Justin Bieber’s been struggling with it lately … I just decided it wasn’t worth it.”

ulti, I was referring to the SPG at Gaylord with the Balmain T-shirt held together with all the safety pins from his 2011 collection. It was about $3000 at retail.

Re hand tattoos…my niece has quite a few on her hands and has not been able to find any sort of a job for almost two years. She has looked into removal, but it would be tens of thousands of dollars and will likely leave scars.
The daughter of a friend had her hand tats removed because she was dismissed from so many job interviews when her hands were seen; the removal was very painful and healing took a long time; her scars will be dealt with later, she can’t afford it now – the removal of only a couple of relatively small tats was ovr $5000.

I assume that the music industry does not have the same issues, but acting is another story. Don’t want Adam to lose out on any aspect of his career.
OOFTA can be covered with makeup.
Oofta, uffda, etc: Interjection signifying exhaustion, weariness, resignation, or overwhelm, especially used by those of Norwegian descent; The Norwegian-American slang equivalent of the Yiddish term oy.) That is from urban dictionary, but it is also what I understood from my scandinavian classmates in the midwest at college. A pretty thoughtless and foolish tattoo, IMHO.

    Erica Jade???
    lol!

  33. Kradamour says:

Why do I get a “twinge” now when I see Adam out in the clubs? Doesn’t seem like networking anymore.

Because it isn’t and because we worry… Frown
I want him to have fun and satisfy his “needs” as he put it on the FYE tour, but I also want him to make music and be known for that rather than for clubbing…and clubbing does seem immature on some level, and I want him to be taken seriously.
    It’s all about the balance.
    Thinking

  34. nkd says:

apal123, good thoughts for your daughter. Heart

When that tweet came through earlier with Adam in the club, I had a similar reaction as you luval, but then realized that he’s alone in a foreign country, and it’s either go out or sit alone in the hotel. He could have skipped the tweet however, IMO.

  35. luval says:

Thanks, guys. I thought about it and I guess it’s better out in the open(his clubbing and meet-ups with random pretty audience members) than secretly caught on camera.
I remember he used to do this on the GN tour. But Sauli changed all that. Guess he still has a LOT of oats to sow.

eta: Here is what I want to be shocked by…that Adam meets someone close to his age…maybe even older, Smile, maybe a writer, playwright, artist, nerd, geek …not the pretty young things. Don’t think that will happen, though.

  36. Kradamour says:

Yup, could have skipped the tweet. My only real concern is drunk tweets or impaired tweets that put too much out there…Adam lives such a public life, in part to satisfy our curiosity and to share with us…don’t wnt him to come across as shallow or frivolous…for better or for worse, Adam likes pretty new things in a lot of contexts…he needs mental stimulation and novelty, and has said so often.

luval, I somehow think that Adam may well look for those things when he finally decides that it is time to look for a life pertner. Not yet, though.

nkd do you remember the triangle shirt? It really seems familiar to me for some reason.

glambotgram, I don’t remember seeing this shirt previously, but I could have easily forgotten it. I thought it was blah with his suit on the red carpet.

  48. nkd says:

Love the rehearsal videos! He looks really tired though.

What are those shoes though?!! If they were blue, he could be a smurf!
I know they were discussed earlier but I’ve been sort of out of it, and only really noticed them in the videos. So round and clunky!
