Adam has apparently wrapped up his US radio promo tour, at least for the moment, as April begins. Above we see Adam as he spent the last several weeks – hard at work with promo. This is (hopefully) finally the last month – for real – before Adam’s new “Trespassing” album will be released. The album is scheduled to drop on May 15. Will we get a second single ahead of the album release date? Will Adam perform on American Idol sometime in the next several weeks? We’ll know soon – in the meantime enjoy the chat!

    Mils, you have fanmail.

Also, I wouldn’t hold my breath for Kimmel to put out Broken English, with the – um – Adamnicity going on there. But, here is a nice one.

Beautiful Sunday down here in Mississippi. 82 degrees, light wind blowing, not a cloud in the sky. Was just thinking about the fact that I have so much to be thankful for. Good friends in other life and online. I’m happy for those of you who will get to see Adam (and each other) in the flesh. This was a week of Adam Goodness that we all wanted and needed. And, WOW, the month of May is going to be even more full of Adam Goodness for all of us to enjoy. Bodes well for the rest of the summer too I hope.

Hope all of you have a great afternoon.

mils– I’m afraid we probably won’t get HQ video from Kimmel of Broken English and Cuckoo. From reports of people that were there, the professional cameras were rolling for NCOE, Trespassing, and Naked Love, but not for BE or Cuckoo. My hunch is that NCOE was intended for broadcast, Trespassing for Kimmel’s channel, and Naked Love for exclusive posting by Shirley Halperin on the THR site (note that Kimmel never posted Naked Love). I think we’re just going to have to rely on fanvids for BE and Cuckoo.

  7. cwm says:

Awww Ceddies, what a sweet sentiment to share. Thank you!

Real life has a not-so-funny way of taking sharp left turns every once in while when you least expect it. Yesterday I spent the morning in a wonderful singing workshop, then ran over to Barnes and Noble to pick up a copy of Instinct magazine with Adam on the cover. Was feeling so lucky because I snagged the very last copy off the shelf. What luck! It’s a great day so far!

Not 10 minutes later I got a call from my teenage daughter that my beloved mother-in-law had fallen and hurt herself and was being taken to the emergency room. Ok, snap myself into a whole new mindset. Off to the emergency room I ran where I spent the rest of the day.

Mom-in-law went down hard face-first on a concrete sidewalk; she broke her right wrist badly and has a number of wounds to her face. No head injury, fortunately. But in the process of assessing her condition, we discovered she also has pneumonia. So now she’s hospitalized. And we’ll have to figure out what to do once she’s out of the hospital without use of her dominant arm and unable to take care of herself. Frown

Well, better get going – gotta get over to the hospital. I’m wishing you all a good – and safe and healthy — day!

cwm, I’ve been there…recently. Best wishes to you and to your MIL, it will take patience and caring to get through the frustration and pain as healing happens.
One thing I have learned over the past couple of years is how very fragile older people are.
Hugs, good thoughts, karma, and prayers coming your way, cherie.

Well, I just searched back and found a photo that I took of the Hamsa that I gave Adam and it isn’t the same one. (sigh) Actually, the one I gave him is more interesting than the one hanging in his car, so maybe he has it hanging on a wall somewhere in his house. Wouldn’t that be nice? I wish I knew a way of linking an individual photograph to here so that I could show it to you.

Kradamour Just posted in the WB chat area that (a) I can help with the dinner arrangements after Tues evening, and (b) please add another 3 to the dinner total (I hope this is possible.) Sorry about the timing, but I am away and I’m not able to check the site daily….
    Thanks,

cwm, so sorry to hear about your MIL. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Sounds like she’ll need lots of TLC, and therapy ( occupational and physical ) once she can tolerate it. Best wishes.

cwm, hope your MIL is doing better. And isn’t it something that the pneumonia was discovered? Took a fall to find this out. She might have thought she had a cold. Now she’ll be treated properly and will be on the road to recovery.

Brought this over from Atop…No Angel was tweeting from Kimmel.

The Unbearable Rightness of Seeing Adam Live
    4/29/2012 by NoAngel

This past Thursday evening, waiting for the Kimmel concert to begin, dizzy from the vise-grip of the dense crowd, I thought to myself, “Self, what the hell are you doing?”

It seemed like forever since the last time I’d seen Adam live on the last day of GNT at Nokia, but the pain and suffering came rushing back like it was yesterday. Sore feet, hunger, thirst, dehydration. A diminished bank account and the terror of a diminishing cell phone battery. Enduring bitter cold (hey, 66 degrees is COLD in LA!) while waiting in line, and then being slow-roasted in the GA crowd.

My friends and I had followed the usual routine: Make plans with your concert pals to spend the time before the show sightseeing and doing assorted fun things. Decide that first you’ll all just go “take a peek and see what the line looks like.” Point and laugh at the 50 or so fans who’ve been waiting in line since dawn. (Of the previous day.) Start doing the aforementioned fun things but with a growing sense of unease. Realize that whatever city you’re in is really boring and the most fun is probably to be had in line. Join the line. Four hours later, realize you have to pee. Start to leave, hoping your friends will let you back in line when you return. Stop in your tracks when someone mentions that soundcheck will be starting soon. Two hours later, flail as you listen to soundcheck. Make another attempt to go find a bathroom, but just then the line starts moving. Allow yourself to be herded into an inescapable holding pen. Wait 45 minutes. Once the gates open, sprint to the stage area and stake your claim to a 6-inch square patch of land. Wait 45 more minutes. Ask your friends if they’ll let you back into your place if you leave to find a bathroom and be greeted by cold blank stares. Stay where you are, rationalizing that you can always get a new bladder if your current one bursts. Wonder why you always end up behind people with freakishly large heads. Wonder if all the pain and suffering is worth it.

    And then…

The band walks out and takes their places, the lights dim, the music starts, Adam appears, the crowd shrieks, and that voice fills the air like something essential for life. You feel lighter than air, nothing hurts. You realize that your jaw is hanging open and you have a goofy adoring expression on your face, and you glance around to see if anyone noticed, and see that everyone else has the same expression. You watch Adam dance and sing and you see his joy. You dance and sing and are filled with joy.

And you know without any doubt whatsoever. It’s worth it. It is always, always, always worth it.

Wow – what an incredible post by NoAngel – someone who understands what it’s like to be caught in Adam’s beautiful web.

  16. luval says:

I am obsessed with the first minute of NCOE from Kimmel. The electric piano plays those notes, Adam’s eyes are closed. His head is shaking ever so slightly back & forth like he’s in a beautiful heavenly cloud. His eyes open, he blinks, then reality takes over and then that voice…………

cwm Aww I am sending Hugs your way. Hope your MIL is feeling better soon.

Best wishes to you and your family cwm! Rose

  20. Ceddies says:

Oh, cwm, what an unfortunate thing to have happen to your mother-in-law, just when you were up in a high place after scoring the last Instinct magazine from the shelf. There’s never a good time for a good person to have a bad fall. As luval mentioned, she can now get the sneaky pneumonia cleared up. We will be sending HTP’s to you and your family as she heals and you deal with making the decision for her living arrangements when the time comes.

  21. Northern Spirit says:

thanks for bringing that over, luval! I can sort of relate from my one experience doing GA at Ste Agathe. Hunger, fatigue, but thankfully we didn’t have a crushing crowd, nor did I have to find a bathroom thanks to not drinking much after noon, and a salty breakfast LOL. Things we do to fuel our Adam addiction

  22. Kradamour says:

    Loved noAngel’s recap…yes. Just yes.
Ste Agathe was nothing compared to the usual ghastly GA gig…an orderly crowd, a big area so no crush (we were even able to spread out blankets before the show), and (thankfully) no opening act except Sauli bouncing down the center aisle!
My GA in Norfolk was hellish and we didn’t even have to wait outside for very long because in Norfolk he was nobody, line didn’t really form until very late afternoon and a local restaurant gave priority entrance to patrons (what a wonderful perk for a $10 lunch!). Still, inside with the endless Orianthi gig (plus Allison) and no way to leave and come back, it was a painful several hours before Adam finally came on stage. I had tickets for Richmond and sold them, it was GA and a billion degrees in August and I didn’t have anyone to share the pain with me.
BUT, missing Richmond was what pushed me to seek other concerts, and that is how I met cher (Raleigh) and fwachdr and noskerdycat (Atlanta) and how I justified my trip to Paris to see him there take my son abroad for an educational trip. Ultimately, it is why I went to Ste Agathe and met everyone there. So I guess GA was a very good thing for me, in a bizarre and backward way!
    Wink

Milw, just saw your message about the missing bold button. What browser are you using? I still have the bold button with Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 4.0.1, and Google Chrome 18.0.

Is anyone else missing code buttons (bold, italic, link, block quote etc) from the comment form? I did some plugin updates a couple of days ago, but the comment form wasn’t one of them.

Cwm, hope your MIL has a quick recovery.

  25. eywflyer says:

Just finished drafting the May 2012 chat thread – it will be posted around 1130pm EDT Monday night. Exciting to have several scheduled events to write about!

As I mentioned the other day, I’d expect that the May thread will be pretty much done once we get to the two concerts at the end of the month. I do plan for us to have live concert threads for both Wilkes-Barre and the Freshtival. Those are the only two events that I’m currently aware of where Adam is the headliner before the Queen + Adam concerts start up in early July. We’ll have live threads for all of the Q+A concerts of course.

  26. nkd says:

eywflyer, I think Adam is headlining the Six Flags New England 96.5TIC Spring Fling Concert on May 26.
Here’s the links, you can decide if you want to include it.

  27. eywflyer says:

Nkd, thanks for posting that info. It does appear that Adam is headlining, so I added it to the list of upcoming shows. I’ll be traveling on May 26th, but I think I’ll be able to arrange for us to have a live thread for Six Flags as well – that would be live chat threads three nights in a row! Just like the Glam Nation days…

  28. Ron says:

Dear eywflyer, you’re up! I mean you slept and are now conscience. Wink

I use the latest version of Firefox and no problems with bold. See? Big Smile

I know others, beside myself, had a problem with the count down clock you once had in place here for the, at that time, release date of the CD. The CPU went up to 100% on my computer and it would take 2 minutes to reload the page.

But, forget about that … and everyone else who had that problem … ROTFL ROTFL because I now have a super duper processor that can handle it.

So, put it back. Laugh Laugh

16 more days until we can put our hands on and have the CD that I’ve been waiting to hear since Adam’s first audition on American Idol. (I didn’t care for FYE)

eywflyer, hoping you’ll provide us with the first week’s sales? I don’t know where to find that. Has to be, HAS to be, over 100,000!

With the membership here, I just calculated that if we each bought 1,090 CD’s, mission accomplished. Big Smile

To date, I’ve bought 2 so I’m counting on someone else to pick up the slack.

  31. eywflyer says:

Hi Ron! I will certainly be posting the first week (and later weeks) sales numbers here. I am rather nervous about the numbers though. FYE did almost 200K the first week, I’d be very happy with 100K for Trespassing. I’ll have to dig up the post I had several months ago about first week sales percentage drops from the first album to the second album for various Idols, and what that meant for their future prospects.

I’d love to put the countdown clock back, but I think there were others that had trouble with it. My PC is less than a year old and I noticed a slowdown when I would have the page open with that clock running for a while.

Time to get ready for work now, four more nights to go then finally a long weekend off!

Don’t we all! Who knew 29 was too old to make a music video?!!!

Color…hum? So Adam’s going to wear some olive or maybe gray? Wink

I’d forgotten or maybe never realized that FYE sold almost 200,000 copies!

That was then and this is now but I would think that “after all this” he would sell twice that amount.

That’s in my own dream world but hopefully this dream will come true. Fingers Crossed

My MIL is doing better. She’s comfortable and resting well now. Thank goodness we caught the pneumonia early. We’ll know better later on today how long they’ll need to keep her in the hospital and, given the cast and sling on her arm, what kind of help she’s likely to need once she’s out.

Again, thank you all. Really really appreciate your heartfelt expressions of caring and support.

eywflyer I’ve lost all my coding buttons. I’m bolding by typing in the codes. It happened about 4 days ago, I think. I’m using Firefox 12, the latest version. I just checked Safari 5.1 and the buttons are there if I use that browser (but I don’t). Likewise, the buttons are present if I use Internet Explore 8, but I rarely do because it’s too slow. No biggie. I’m learning HTML coding.

I’m getting a bit nervous about the GA at the Apollo Hammersmith, but I have backup seats if I need them. I’ll see how I feel after walking around London for 10 days. Fortunately we have seats for the first night; The second, we have GA, and it’s our last night in London. I’ll be hobbling to the airport the next day… LOL

  49. Kradamour says:

eywflyer, I have all buttons on all browsers. The internet is a bizarre and wonderful place…

Oksana, I never thanked you for your offer to read the cyrillic page to see what I bought! I had skipped over quite a bit when life was busy. Thank you! but I don’t remember the name of the magazine or the link…my soldier son is relatively fluent in Russian (he studied it in college and then spent a few weeks with my Siberian friends – yes, I have friends in Siberia!) but I would NEVER send that to him for help! The eye rolls would be enough to create a seismic event felt up and down the east coast…

Down to work now…have a great start to the week, peeps! So glad to hear that your MIL is stable, cwm!

  50. eywflyer says:

Good morning. Northern Spirit, there is an update to the comment coding buttons plugin that I’ll try to apply this weekend, when I have a few days off. When I do that, I need to update the theme and WordPress version too, which can get a bit messy involving manual editing of php files, so I don’t want to take on those tasks until I have some time off.

I searched back through old comments and found the stuff I had previously posted (way back in June 2011) about the first week sales of first albums vs. first week sales of second albums for various Idols. Here it is (with some minor edits for better readability, numbers are taken from an old MJs thread):

The second album first week (that’s a mouthful) sales chart above pretty much breaks down into three tiers (listed by second album % of first album sales):

    Top Tier:
    Carrie Underwood 167% (315K to 527K)
    Daughtry 88% (304K to 269K)
    Kelly Clarkson 84% (297K to 250K)
    Jennifer Hudson 76% (217K to 165K)
This group all remained on track for long term success in the industry.

    Middle Tier:
    Fantasia 55% (240K to 133K)
    Jordin Sparks 40% (119K to 48K)
These two were iffy at this point. Fantasia has had some decent longer term success in various ventures, while Jordin has struggled recently.

    Bottom Tier:
    Clay Aiken 33% (613K to 200K)
    Ruben Studdard 24% (400K to 96K)
    David Cook 18% (280K to 50K)
    David Archuleta 13% (183K to 24K)
This last group was clearly in trouble at this point.

FYE sold 198K its first week, so for Adam to reach the 75% mark (top tier) on the chart above, the second album would need to sell at least 148K first week. For Adam to stay above Jordin Sparks, it would need to sell at least 79K. 100K sales would come in at 51%, close to Fantasia, and squarely in the iffy middle ground on that chart.

So there you have it. Considering that FYE was released right before Black Friday whereas Trespassing will be released in May, if Trespassing’s first week sales numbers come in at 100K+, I’ll be happy (when the stuff above was written we still thought that the “second album” would be released in November 2011). If they come in below 50K, not good, regardless of the seasonal differences. I really want to see Adam at the minimum come in at or above Jordin’s performance, which means it needs to sell at least 79K.
