    Hi ALL –

    I finally have a chance to post and give you a little recap of the Tacoma show before I need to start getting ready for the San Jose show! I traveled from Seattle/Tacoma down to San Jose yesterday, and will be seeing the San Jose show tonight with a different contingent of my family. But first, a recap of the Tacoma show!

    I went to the show with my hubby, 25-y.o. daughter, her BF, my bro-in-law (hubby’s brother), and my 24-y.o. neice. We were all coming from different directions and met at a German beer hall (Rhein Haus) in Tacoma, which was a lot of fun. Bocce ball, mini-golf, all kinds of games INSIDE the restaurant. It was a hoot. It was a great festive start to the evening.

    We got to our seats right at 8:00pm, but true to form, the show didn’t start until about 8:30. I had kept myself unspoiled about setlist, visual display, costumes, etc. so I really didn’t know what to expect and watched the show with “new eyes” (see what I did there? Wink )

    The Tacoma Dome is a interesting venue. The entire domed roof is made of wood, and in fact it is one of the largest wood-domed structures in the world. It’s wider and flatter than most arenas. I don’t know how many seats there were, but it was full up.

    We were on the floor, about half-way back. Everyone on the floor stood for the entire show, and it was cool to see that most everyone in the first level of the risers all the way around the arena was standing for the whole show too. It was a great crowd – lots of excitement and love, singing, yelling, etc. They showed Adam a lot of love. I’d say the biggest cheers went to Brian.

    The rig and visuals are spectacular. As you’ve probably seen from the videos, it’s set up as an ornate theater stage, which is segmented and then morphs into a number of different visuals throughout the show. I loved that Frank makes a couple of appearances during and after the encore. It’s all really well thought through and visually spectacular.

    And then there’s the music! OMG the setlist is amazing! It’s “monstrous” as someone in my party said. Especially in the first part of the show, it’s really relentless. I don’t know how Adam does it, but he and his voice were absolutely amazing and flawless throughout the entire show. There’s definitely less stage chatter this time – it’s really all down to business from one song to the next. It felt relentless in the first segment of the show, but then there was a pause when Adam went to change clothes for the first time and we caught our breath a bit.

    Adam’s costumes are amazing – he really stepped it up this time! My favorites are the silver tassled vest and the royal robe and boots during the encore, but they are all visually arresting on stage. Adam was very playful and happy and relaxed and fun. It’s unbelievable how much energy the show must require!

    A few favorite moments:
    – dancing and singing at the top of our lungs with my hubby to our favorite singalongs (FBG, STL, DSMN)
    – WWTLF was absolutely gorgeous. It always is, of course, but I never cease to be amazed at how beautiful that song and Adam’s vocal performance of it are. At the end of the song, I leaned over to my hubby and said, “that song right there is worth the price of admission alone”. He just shook his head and said “flawless”.
    – Adam lounging on the motorcycle during Bicycle Race is a fantastic idea
    – Lots of big notes, high notes, and long-held notes. Adam being Adam and knocking it out of the park over and over again!

    Everyone in our party loved the show and had a great time. Two people in our group of 6 were QAL newbies – my bro-in-law and neice. They loved it! It was fabulous fun all around and we had a ton of fun together. Thank you Adam, Bri, Rog, Spike, Neil, and Tyler and the whole crew and set designers for a wonderful and amazing gift!

We didn’t have great seats for taking video – we were on the floor about halfway back, there were some tall people in front of me, and I couldn’t get any close-ups, but they do give you a sense of the big picture visually, and the sound is good.     cwm– Loved your recap! Have a great time again tonight! I’m glad to hear that Tothebeat is able to join you. Did you go to the Bohemian Rhapsody movie screening and singalong? Wasn’t that last night?

    I’m loving everything about this new show. I was happy to see the return of In the Lap of the Gods. I also love Machines and the way it showcases Adam’s voice.

    I’m going to be camping in the wilds of Colorado for the next two weeks. I won’t have access to wifi so I won’t be tempted to overdose on Rhapsody videos before my first show in DC on 7/30. I’ll only have to exert self discipline for a a few days after I get back. That’s never an easy task when QAL is involved!

    I experienced 1 of the best arena rock shows I’ve seen to date
    “Under Pressure” If I had any question of Lamber’s vocals, they were dissipated when he hit the high notes of the song.
