I believe a stage assistant (throne guy) put the chalice on stage after Brian finished playing. At the very end of the ajmalco KQ video above you can see him placing the chalice on stage.

Barcelona recap (part 2):
Although our view of the stage was great, the sound was not ideal in our section early in the show. The band was a little too loud at first, obscuring Adam’s voice. Then there was mild mike distortion during Play the Game and Killer Queen. (That was sad!) But after that the sound improved. Kinky, who was further from the stage and speakers, didn’t notice any sound issues, which was good. In spite of this, I could tell that he was singing beautifully throughout the show.
Some comments in answer to your questions above… Adam pulled his shirt tails out just before STL. I’m not sure why. He made some comment as he was doing it which I didn’t hear. About Killer Queen…there was an attachment on the upper left side of the chair for the cigarette holder. The last time Adam puffed on the cigarette, he blew out a stream of smoke. The chalice was to the right of the chair. He picked it up, drank from it and then spewed only one stream of water into the audience.
Another observation which was probably not obvious on the videos…During Brian’s guitar solo, there was a succession ghost like animal shapes superimposed on the background graphics. (Fox, dolphin, etc.) That was Brian giving the audience a subliminal message to love all the creatures of the earth!
One thing that I really enjoy about seeing Adam and QAL perform in different countries is watching how the audiences respond to the performances. There is a lot of cultural variation which I find interesting. The audience in Barcelona was so passionate. Before the encore and after the end of the show the audience sang a beautiful chant of ole, ole, ole, over and over again. It gave me chills. I asked riskylady about it after the show, and she told me that it was their culture’s way of showing approval and thanks for a good performance. It was so moving and a perfect ending to a great show.
Was curious about what the audience was chanting, mmm222 – so happy to hear what it meant. And happy, too, that you and everyone else enjoyed this concert so much. Worth the trip!
Great re-cap as usual mmm22. And my brother pointed out that the same day Sergio Garcia won a major golf tournament here in the states. It was years since Sergio won. The crowds would have been extra passionate! So happy that you got to see Queen one more time. Like me with the Wembley show…just had to!
