Adam takes his tunes to the beach – the ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball hosted by iHeart Radio to be precise. He is scheduled to perform a 15-minute set at 1 PM PDT (may be broadcast live or not) and then will be back at 5 PM for another longer set. Some fortunate ALLers will be in attendance. There may be a live stream so check back to get any updates.

    I posted this on August thread too.

    A couple people on twitter wondering why he’s gone back to his dark hair. Here’s my new theory….In the video that was filmed the other day, he plays an Elvis impersonator. Has this Vegas job with all the people screaming for him on-stage but then goes back to his place for Another Lonely Night!

    The three amigos, firstimerob, retjenny and Mr. Ret (Jim) at the WSOBV Concert Series (Long Beach, CA) 8/22/15

    Wow, for the small crowd, there certainly are lots of good videos and pictures that have turned up on the web.

    The set up. There were bleach seats down both sidelines of the volleyball court, with the VIP seats being the first three rows on each side of the court. You had to have a ticket to get to the VIP rows but you didn’t have an assigned seat. The stage was as the North end of the court.

    After the last Volleyball game was over about half of the bleach stands emptied out (with the exception of the VIP seats). Then, just before Adam came out to sing they told all the peep in the VIP seats to come down to the front of the stage. The announcer had to keep urging VIPS to come down. (can you imagine that) so those who did go down had a great interaction with Adam and a great place to take vids and pictures.

    In addition, behind that “pit area” they opened up the VB court and brought in a crowd of younger peeps who were waiting outside. Sadly the crowed was still minimal

    firstimerob and I got separated from Jim but we had really good seats, front row seats. The bleacher were raised so the front row was at stage level. We were about 20 feet or so from the edge of the stage with a 45 degree angle view so we decided to stay in our seats. We could see every little ounce for that hunka hunka of ……(you know! )

    The concert started and he looked his usual beautiful self. He was right on with the vocals and in full performance mode. He had to do a quite a bit of hand singles to the band, so they are still working things out. Adam was terrific and played to the crowd, especially the pit. Jim was in the second row of the VIP seats and was only about 10 feet away, but on the side, of the stage. He was wearing his Queen/Adam shirt. He said Adam came over to the side of the stage and looked right at him and noded his head. He was sure Adam was acknowledging the shirt.

    That is the good part. On the negative side, after sitting thru 2 volleyball games in the blasting sun (about 2 hours) Adam treated us to only THREE songs. However, those three songs were definitely a treat. He was originally suppose to sing after the other three bands but at the last hour they announced that he would KICK OFF THE CONCERT. Our guess was that since he had to be there at 1:00 pm to sing his two songs for NBC (only one of which was broadcast) that he didn’t want to wait around till 8:00 or so to close the concert. I don’t blame him.

    The radio dudes gave him lots of complements and praise, etc. but, it was after all, another one of THOSE radio gigs.

    For our big bucks tickets, in addition to our seats we got a ticket worth $10 at a couple of the food stands. So after the big concert we went and got some pretty good pork sandwiches and sat down to eat. We could hear music from the Iheart booth and guess what they were playing? Everything but Adam!!!

    retjenny Thank you very much for your detailed report… Seems that it is still hard to get Adam played.. The good thing is that Adam was in full performance mode !! I guess this is one of those performances that is more like a learning experience for Adam’s band…

    Thanks for the recap, retjenny! He leaves us wanting more. My sister & her husband, who are not really fans, saw the performance on NBC and she thought he really sounded good. He gives 150% whether it’s 20,000 people or 200 people. Can’t see how he could ever be at this volleyball tourney but a gig is a gig.

    GMA was only 4 songs but the difference was the whole live show experience. When TLKC and I saw him with Cindy Lauper it was only 2 songs! And one of them was a duet with her!

    So I guess you can look at it as your TOH tour show in case he doesn’t have one. Now you went to Morongo so you can say you saw 2 shows now!

    Thanks again for the detailed recap. Very interesting to see how these things are run.

    eta: Always said I’d never go to a radio show again but here I am thinking of going to NYC to Duran Duran & Adam.

    So didn’t the other groups play after Adam? Was the music you heard from them, or an actual radio booth separate from the concert stage? Just curious.
    Also, wonder if some people were planning to show up around 8 to hear him, and didn’t know about the last minute switch.
    Those radio things are often a roll of the dice….and throw the sport thing in the mix too.

    riskylady – Yes the other groups did play after Adam. We just didn’t stay to hear them. The music we heard was while the equipment was being changed out. It was from the Iheart booth.

    We had not planned to go as early as we did, but of course I was continually following things on the net, so I did get the word. But it is sure possible that someone might not have heard and got there after his performance.

    luval You are right. An Adam performance is an event no matter how many songs he sings. And we really did have a fun time. We saw several Glamberts that we have met at other concerts: ovationimpact, tchrsd, cocoglam,….

    Also, I sat next to a very nice young gal who is another “he had me a momma” fan. But, this was her very first time to see him live. She couldn’t believe how beautiful he is in person. We talk about all his Idol performances, and I told a little about the Queen tour. I also told her about this blog but she said she is very busy and doesn’t go on the internet very often.
    In case she drops in HI DEBBIE Come back and see us here. Bottom line: of course I would go again – any time Drunken Razz

    Thanks for the recap, retjenny. Love the fact that Adam saw Mr. Ret’s QAL T-shirt. Sad to hear about the size of the crowd but Adam was shown on TV and there are a lot of volleyball fans who would have been watching. Always good to reach new audience.

    The main thing is you got to see Adam sing and to meet up with firstimerob, tchrsd, ovation impact at al. Half the fun is meeting other Glamberts.
